Calling Boeser a PP specialist is fake news. The point I was making with showing those stats was that Kapanen was as good of an ES producer as Boeser, not that Boeser was a bad ES producer.
Kapanen is not a fit on the Canucks, we have Boeser, Garland, Hoglander, Podkolzin as top 6 wingers.

Having the main piece of a Miller trade be Kapanen makes absolutely zero sense.

"At worst, Kapanen is something he has never accomplished in his career"

Lol.

It's almost like Kapanen was on pace for 60 points last year while playing with Malkin, showing what he could be while clicking with a star player.

Boeser's stats from 2018-2019, and 2019-2020 are not that relevant to what he is now, he wasn't far enough removed from his injuries.

Yet Kapanen is still producing at identical ES levels even if you take out those two years.

In fact, if you only look at the last 2 years, Kapanen blows Boeser out of the water in terms of ES production.

Wow, Kapanen was on pace for 60 whole points, while playing with Evgeni Malkin? Absolutely Amazing.

If Kapanen had been on the Canucks for the last two years, and Boeser was on the Penguins, what do you think these stats would look like?

Actually read the post you quoted genius. Read it nice and slow.

So when Kapanen was on the Leafs and equaling Boeser at ES, it was because Boeser was injured. When Kapanen was on the Penguins and equaling Boeser at ES, it was because he was on the Penguins.

Seems like you're just a homer who thinks your player is better. "Whenever your player equals my player, it's because of reasons other than the players being of similar ability because my player is better"

I read your post, which was a stupid way of saying, "kapanen was on pace for being what I'm trying to convince you he is, while being carried by a superstar."

All you try to do is point to even strength points at face value, while barely looking at any context.

If you don't think recovering from injuries impacts a player's performance and thus their production, and likewise for playing under a dog shit coach, the situation a player plays in, etc, then I don't know what to tell you.

Numbers aside, Kap brings speed and that is the single biggest asset the Pens covet. Now 4th line guys are not burners but Pens value speed and a slower RW is not as valued. Miller can skate and does bring some elements that the Pens like. But the cost and making the cap work are prohibitive plus the Pens are winning so Hextal will slow play any moves.

Marino+ for Miller.
This is a terrible trade straight up for the Pens, let alone us adding to it. We’re not deep on RD at all. Marino has proven he can step into that #1D role for stretches with Letang out.

Boeser would be sweet here, though.

funny during the q and a, one guy asked that he said he uses analytics, but he proceeds to bring up jack Johnson and gudbranson as pieces he’s brought in, and questioned him about those transactions if he really did use analytics.

Weren't they literally the two worst dmen in the league at the time in regards to analytics?

Tweet was from the weekend before it even leaked that the Canucks were looking at poaching Patrick Allvin to join Rutherford in the front office so it seems Blake Price has some credible sources.

Price of course used to be a media member for TSN.

What can a possible Pens and Canucks trade look like?

Some tidbits that Rutherford mentioned in his presser yesterday in relation to trades.

1. Canucks will not be trading any early round draft picks. Late picks are available
2. Canucks looking to acquire speed
3. Canucks looking to acquire a player that is similar age of the core and can grow with the core
( 21-26 yrs old)
4. Canucks against the cap so it would have to be dollar in dollar out trade

Poaching is illegal. If there is a career change for an employee from one of the teams to the other, it comes through legal processes.

I can't imagine Rutherford makes a significant trade before hiring a GM. That would be extremely stupid.

well no... if something comes a long that is too good to turn down he will make that trade. He's still a qualified GM, and that's why he's the interim for now. Who knows how long our hunt will be? 2 weeks? 2 months?

Crosby, Malkin, Letang all past their prime. Cup window is clearly closed after losing in the first round for the last 3 years with many more dominant teams in the east getting stronger each year. They should be trying to rebuild and get as many picks as they can for those three while they still can instead of trying to beat a dead horse like other teams have done in the past with their old cores.

The only roster move that makes sense for the Penguins right now is a massive talent upgrade. Bonafide top F or D.

They don’t really have the cap or pieces for that though, and Rutherford isn’t a tear it down type. Hextall isn’t a rock the boat type. I guess crazier has happened.

Maybe some sort of a prospect swap where Hextall sends Rutherford back a guy he drafted for someone he likes better?

Honestly I’m guessing nothing happens here.

Marino is the other guy that would fill a need but obviously that opens up a big hole for the Pens to fill.
Yeah, I dont think the Pens would be able to part with Marino. If you needed a LD, we would be your team all day, but shipping out Marino (and getting older in the process) would leave our right-sided D as Letang-Ruhwedel-Friedman for the foreseeable future.

Like someone else said, we're not actually good trade partners. And I'm loath to ship Kapanen when he finally seems to be generating some chemistry playing with Crosby.
