That deal sucks ass. That's like a "if that's all we can get" trade you agree to at noon of trade deadline deal.
I wouldn't be surprised if we get something that underwhelming for Jake. That's always how these deals seem to go. People get hyped up about a guy's value and then by deadline day they get moved for something that nobody is happy with.

UFAs to be just don’t get hauls. Only way Guentzel gets something we’re happy with is if he negotiates an extension with the other team

But we got the Belle of the ball. This is different. It's a sellers market. We got a guy in his prime with a relatively low cap hit and we can retain. His playoff stats and GPG in the post season are superb! We're gonna get a pant load here, just watch!

Not true, he will get an enormous haul back. Well, depends on your definition on what that consists of.

Lindholm got quite a haul and I'd say Guentzel is at worst an equal player to him. He's also by far the best forward available on the market. Trade won't be crazy but I think they should be able to get more than late 1st + meh prospect for him

I was thinking Smith at 50% for a 2nd was reasonable, you could probably get that without retention if there is enough interest in him.

Getting 2 1sts in value for Guentzel and at least a 2nd for Smith would really help their prospect pool.
I read that Vegas REALLY wants to get Smith back from the pens, and could make the money work if Stone is out till the start of the playoffs.

I'd be willing to bet the "haul" for Jake isn't that mind blowing.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb and say none of us will be happy, regardless. If for no other reason that the team is trading a 40 goal scorer before it fires it's empty-headed coaching staff.
I will, Jake will get us a 1st, a high end prospect or equivalent and an nhl depth player, most likely to even out the cap. That's the bare minimum. If we retain we get more!

This is why Kyle gets the big bucks. This TDL if played right can help shape the length of time by which we're able to get off the mat, two years? five years? It's all on the table. Very excited about this new direction. Well, to some degree.

Players like Jake aren’t moved. We better be getting something better than Warren Foegle, what would likely be 32nd overall, and a very near bust like Holloway.

Unless we get extremely lucky that the player/draft pick we acquire for Jake exceeds projections, you're always going to "lose" a trade when you're sending a 40-ish goal scorer the other way.

Having said that, I hope that whatever prospect/young player they get actually projects to be a top line scorer. I'm sick and tired of this team continually adding middle six wingers to the mix and then wondering why we struggle to score when Sid/Geno aren't on fire.

I'm right there with you but I honestly have no expectations either way until at least the support staff is fired. Even once you get past the stale and/or incompetent coaching staff what, exactly, is this team going to do with these vaunted "futures?" Draft more garbage? Not develop what they DO draft? How about whatever roster players this team targets? You guys excited about that considering this team's track record when it comes to player evaluation?

This is why I roll my eyes a little at everyone jumping up and down in glee about how excited they are to "move on" and "blow it up." They don't even know what they are asking for. There's a massive step everyone is skipping, here. Cart ahead of the horse.

I wonder if Vegas would just give us our 3rd back for Smith similar to when Jamie Oleksiak got traded back to Dallas for the same pick. An extra 5 million this offseason would be nice.

It was actually their 3rd, but if they would give us a 2nd and a prospect like what I heard from a poster on the main boards I think it was I would do that easily.

With Smith having a year after this I could see a bubble team being interested. That way it’s not a rental if they miss. Maybe Minnesota.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall for the first meeting between Guerin and Smith. “Kid I know you wanted to go back to Vegas, but we have a mighty fine casino right down the interstate. Shut the f*** up and go play hockey.”

I say completely punt on this year and see about getting rid of basically everything if you can.

Jake for hopefully a haul.
EK65 only if someone wants to go insane
Smith, Raks, Graves, Rust for as good as you can get and reload with your gains in cap space/remaining /added assets 🤷
