Toronto: Seth Jones

Chicago: Carson Soucy, Vinny Desharnais, Canucks 2025 1st, Canucks 2025 2nd, Leafs 2025 2nd

Vancouver: Rielly (5.5M, 2M retained by Chicago), Ryan Donato

Toronto takes a risk and potentially gets a top pair D with the cap set to skyrocket.

Chicago swaps Jones for Rielly and a 2nd so they can flip Rielly with less retention (and return). Recieve a 1st and 2 2nds in this draft, and able to get off the Jones deal.

Rielly waives NMC to Vancouver and costs essentially the same as Soucy and Desharnais combined. Donato helps replace the JT Miller production.

Vancouver doesn't have Desharnais any more.

We're not paying a 1st, 2nd and bottom pairing D for Diet Hughes, who I'd argue isn't worth a first alone.

We have two Petterssons that are looking like a better fit to our system than Rielly.

Donato won't do any better then anyone else on our roster already.

So I can say Vancouver is out, you'd have to talk to Chicago fans too though, as that doesn't seem like a fun go for them either.

Vancouver wants Marner, not a defender

I tink you need to change the deal as one piece as the player has been traded

Agreed, our Dcorp is looking very good now and longterm.
What we desperately need is a pass first top line forward that can help now but also going forward. Not an easy get and likely won't be addressed until the summer and now that we have upwords of 20 million in cap plus likey more with Soucy being expendable and perhaps Hogs who just doesn't seem like he's ever gonna get the proper role he deserves along Lekkerimakki and Raty clearly ready and are both more shooters, I'd love to add Marner or Rants.
It seems Allvin has little interest in bringing Brock back which I'm not a fan of but I guess they see Lekkerimakki as his replacement and I wonder if he gets moved for immediate help?

If the canes can't sign Rants and don't want picks etc Brock + makes sense. Another rumour says they wanted Demko and while again I think it could very well be a mistake to move him and certainly not both for a rental but if the nucks could have an extension in place if Rants perhaps sees the nucks and the city as a place he would forgo UFA and Brock also came with an extension that would certainly lesson the blow of losing Necas

People think Demko is a risk and I get it but these setbacks have nothing to do with the knee or hips and likely are from the 7 months he missed and based on his recent play he's shown he's still elite and worth the risk since he's not signed past next season.

From the nucks perspective, Lankinen isnt as good but he's certainly good enough especially with a team that overall is very good defensively under a very defensive system.
As for Silovs he's honestly very, very good on anything high danger from the slot inward but has struggled mightily from distance tracking pucks but has made strides in that area and looked much better in Abby and last night was one of his best games as a nuck fwiw.

It's very obvious that we need a high-end forward more than anything and to aquire that via a trade won't be cheap.

Sorry guys for going off topic

I'd be happy to add Seth Jones in Toronto. But it's pretty much a guarantee that he doesn't want to play in Canada. And even if he would come here, the other two teams in this proposal lose out big time.

Jones, with a bit of retention, for a couple of picks and Kampf or Jarnkrok. If he'd be willing to waive and if Chicago isn't getting many offers then that's something that might be a starting point.

Where does the idea that he doesn't want to play in Canada come from?

I hadn't heard that until today and I find it very hard to believe that if given the opportunity to go from Chicago to Toronto, a team that is top 5 in the NHL, and leading their division that he wouldn't waive given the situation the 2 teams are in.
