Fine. They can have Granlund.I dont see Scheifele going unless they go full scorched earth. If they trade him they have no top 6 centers of note.

I suspect we'd get a good season out of Puustinen at this point. I see no reason to look in free agency for a different league minimum guy in his stead.I hope we can find a bunch of cheap hard working players like the Kraken have to complete our bottom six with DOC and Poehling. Want some guys that aren't f***ing scared to take a hit to make a play

I would like to see Caggiula get another chance as well. 53 points in 65 games for Wilkes. If you're looking for speed then he certainly brings that. Not afraid to get his nose dirty either.
He got 4 games with us, averaging 6:30 TOI. 82% D-zone starts. That's no way to assess a player's fit here.
Mike Sullivan coaching at its finest...put guys in positions to inevitably fail and then go back to the guys that are penciled into the lineup no matter how they perform.
I'm so sick of the absence of accountability that has seeped into this organization.
You mean like a Brandon Tanev?I hope we can find a bunch of cheap hard working players like the Kraken have to complete our bottom six with DOC and Poehling. Want some guys that aren't f***ing scared to take a hit to make a play
I'm actually surprised a guy like Caggiula didn't get more rope from Sullivan. He seems like the type of bottom six player Sullivan would love.I suspect we'd get a good season out of Puustinen at this point. I see no reason to look in free agency for a different league minimum guy in his stead.

Not only isn't he getting fired, he will probably help find his next Boss!!!! lolIt’s so pathetic that Sully didn’t get fired. What respectable GM would want this idiot on the team for another minute? If he’s still here once a new front office is assembled, it means that either the GM is just as incompetent as Sleepy and post 2017 JR, or it really was mandated by FSG that you can’t fire the town idiot coach.
FSG is a joke for keeping this clown coach around this long. It was also pretty pathetic they didn’t let Hextall go after his whole my plan is in my head nonsense. FSG has been a horrendous ownership group.
Zucker’s decline will definitely, for 100% start next season. However, he's hitting the age where a natural decline will start at any time. Could be next season. Could be 3 years from now.
And then when he says yes, ask him when he announces that of course Sullivan is returning as coach, “how you can justify retaining a coach who has a terrible postseason record since 2018 (cite it) and now failed to make the playoffs — five seasons of failure?“ and “Do you think Sullivan, while being a good coach overall, has hit his expiration date in Pittsburgh and maybe the team would find more motivation and success with another coach? It has worked in other places like Boston when some high quality coaches were let go and another coach brought in”There is no doubt that the first question the media should ask the New GM at the press conference, is if they have 100% of the authority to fire the coach.
I would say that speaks more to "it's hard to win a cup".I saw a mind-blowing stat somewhere the other day that sounds unbelievable but at the same time lends itself to some of the coaching discussions that have been going on. Do you know how many coaches (in the modern era, screw the original 6) have won a cup, left that team, and then won another cup with another team?
One. Scotty Bowman. No other coach since expansion has won a cup with different teams.
It's almost like success breeds stagnation and it behooves teams to bring in young, new faces every now and again.
That's also why I said since January to take advantage and trade him at the deadline!!Zucker’s decline will definitely, for 100% start next season.
The combination of age, injury history, and getting paid will ensure we never see Contract Zucker again.
That’s why it’s time to move on.

My vote to replace Zucker, if that's the direction we're going in. Excellent even-strength producer.
We may even get a pick for free. Vancouver murdered their leverage.
He's 27, is fast as f*** and busts his ass. Unlike most highly sought UFA's, this is someone we can actually bring here. He's an upgrade on Zucker defensively too, albeit not a huge one.

Don't see how he's worse than Bertuzzi for us anyway? Bertuzzi would outproduce Garland on the PP but we wouldn't give him PP1 here in all likelihood.
He's also more durable than Bertuzzi, on top of everything else.
This is the solution to our problem. Checks all the boxes.
I'd try to trade Granlund for Garland, Canucks save a year and we get a younger player that is still capable of producing and playing in our top 6 ( replacing Zucker )
They will, in 2 years lolThe Canucks want to trade Garland to open up cap space.........not replace it with another player making the same amount.
But Boston got in the playoffs lol…While I was thinking the same, Boston isn't a great example after their loss in the first round. If I was the GM, I would bring that up immediately, that it didn't work once they got in the playoffs.
If I am him and I was just hired. I would say that I need to do an evaluation of the coaches and will then make a determination. The important part is does he have the authority to make the decision. I know people want Sullivan fired but i personally would have a problem with the GM making that decision without talking to Sullivan and the rest of the organization, including players.
It's hilarious that after allll that fuss, Boston only lasted ~2 weeks longer than us.But Boston got in the playoffs lol…
all of our wingers or top nine players would be tiny and good but not great, kind of middle of the road…we need something different…we need to go bigger imo…go after Meier if he doesn’t sign w NJD, try to trade for Matthews if he doesn’t want to resign in Toronto…try to pry a really good RFA from another club, etc…we play it safe way too oftenIt's just a shame we have no GM right now to make it happen. Hopefully he arrives in time before Garland gets gobbled up.
I really don't see us finding someone that fits our needs better and is an actual attainable target.
Even his contract lines up with our window.
And yet they were still a much better team…ran into a hot Florida team, happens in the playoffsIt's hilarious that after allll that fuss, Boston only lasted ~2 weeks longer than us.
I notice more how none of our other D men are even up there lol…
