Petry was a decent transition dman with slightly below average d who isn't good on the PP and who makes a lot of mistakes. Not worth 6 mil at all. Hopefully he bounces back, despite his age, or something.
He was rumored out of Montreal 2 years ago and with the wife wanted to get back closer to home, hopefully he can be moved to Detroit

Who all do we have at the WCs? I see POJ on Team Canada.
Apparently also DOC & DeSmith.

Canada’s blueline looks kinda crappy so POJ should play on one of the top pairings. Less clear on DOC. Good experience for 2 of our younger players though.

It’s hilarious how everyone blames Petry while we had an even worse old defenseman making 6 mil for 5 more seasons.
Letang was fine. Petry was also fine. Neither were problems.

Not looking forward to both of them being a year older though when they're already old and on the decline.

This team needed Petry like Sid needs a concussion. 10 years ago? Sure.
Yeah getting older was absolutely not something the Pens needed to do. I'm not of the mind that we need a full on youth movement but we do need to get younger.

Letang was fine.
Can't agree with this. He was arguably our MVP the prior 2 seasons. Maybe Jarry last year.
This was a colossal drop off defensively. He salvaged it somewhat after returning the 2nd time, but by then a lot of damage was done.

Him bouncing back is one of the keys to making the playoffs next year. Still think he can, despite his age. The skating is still pretty good. Just get him a solid partner from free agency from game #1, or maybe Petts continues his strong form and that becomes a reliable pairing.
Confidence is huge for him. Gotta provide the right environment to create that.

Bonino as well, but UFA.

it's not about blaming Petry, we didn't need him with Matheson and Marino on the team. We didn't need him then and we don't need him now. Weber is not playing 25+ minutes for us and paired with him!

Bones is nice and rested after his vacation in Pittsburgh to end the season.
Probably shopping for a home in Europe

Hopefully, this team got over their weird fetish for guys well past their primes or he might be back.

I'd re-sign Zucker if he took a Rust-type deal & discount. Clearly prorated for production. Which actually comes out to just under $3M per year.

I know people are poo-pooing Rust for this past season but he took a hell of a discount.

And that's after a bad year.

Probably a preview of our goalie tandem next year with Desmith and Cal Petersen.

Plus Nylander.

And I think a player from WBS/Wheeling is repping France.
