The Keyboard Expert Penguins Fans want to blame the coach or bottom 6 players but its on the superstars. Hard to do when you own their jerseys.

See #58 and #71 "effort" on the open net goal last night. See the 2 on 1 with Crosby and Malkin to up 3-0 with no shots.

The positioning is awful and high risk all over the ice. Certainly this isn't the "system". Its players failing to adapt to the system.

The special teams aren't on the coaching either. Its players not willing to shoot or block shots.

But this is the farewell tour fans wanted. Pittsburgh needed change. This is still a playoff team IMO.

A lot of posters seem to think that the Pens will turn it around, and they may be right, as they always seem to make the post-season.

But one of these times they won't turn it around, and they will continue to be mediocre for an entire 82 game season.

Who is to say that it's not this season?

Then it's been a good run but my question is it worth holding onto this core and delaying the inevitable rebuild when they haven't shown anything in half a decade?

Watching them blow leads against the Bruins and then the Sabres, it doesn't seem like it's the depth guys. This is Letang waterskiing on a guy he should easily beat into the corner, then Malkin and Rackell not winning a battle 1-on-3 that helped salt away the game last night.

I don't know if the Penguins fans here don't understand positioning or if they fail to succumb to the reality that doesn't fit their personal narrative or number on the back of their favorite player's jersey.

Much easier to blame the coach or bottom six players.

It is on the stars. They get paid the most. The narrative #87 and #71 are point per game players and it is not their fault is so lazy and amateur. Almost delusional in fact.

I've counted the Penguins out year after year, and every year they have made me eat that prediction. I'm done thinking they are 'done'. Until they're done, they're not done. Now I'm done.
Yup, came here to say this exactly. It's so early in the season, and they are struggling a bit, but I'd be completely shocked if they don't make the playoffs this year, and make a nice little run.

Pens have been done for years they just somehow barely scrape into the playoffs. Pens are a garbage hockey team who have pieces who were once the elite of the elite. Might as well be a different franchise from the one that won cups

The problem is the entire roster construction. They can score when the game is played their way, but can't shift to plan b when it doesn't.

They have a lot of valuable parts to sell, problem is that they have a dumpster fire in the front office.

They may want to rebuild but it is kinda tough to tell Crosby to take a hike as long as he wants to keep playing. They kinda have to go all in with this core for better or worse till Crosby doesn't want to play anymore.

Still pretty early in the season right now and they have a handful of defensemen still trying to gel together as a unit.

Now if it’s still looming this way 35ish games into the season then it’ll be a bit more concerning.

I'm of a same mind, though when they finally do make a change (Hextall/Sullivan out), then they're going to have to ride their aging stars hard to get into the playoffs. At some point, that's going to become untenable.

Both letang and malkin (x2) had the puck on their stick in important moments in OT or at the end of the game and didn't score.

They are being paid to score in those opportunities if they are going to cough the lead up preceding to the said plays.

But blame the front office. The fans wanted the band back together. And here you go.

You are nonsensical; it wasn’t the fans that made these horrific contract decisions, it was the very Front Office that you’re defending......Yowza

4 Consecutive 1st round losses, it's not like they're showing up in the playoffs either.
They lost in OT in game 7. Literally the slimmest of margins.

I’m a rangers fan and I really thought we were going to lose to them.

Are penguins done with this core? Yea probably. But I think they at least had a shot last year.

Sure but the fans wanted it. The moves were celebrated. Now some are trashing the signings or wrongly blaming the 3rd and 4th Lines or coaching. Its because they manage in hindsight and are hypocrites.

Or don't understand positioning.

They are hypocrites, but look back at my posts and you'll see that I have carte blanche to hammer the FO.

Very well could be the year. Pens and Caps look old .. but weve looked old before and always seem to be playoff bound .. injuries and old age be damned.

Im expecting Pens and Caps to not be in the playoffs this year .. but lots of hockey left.

Hammering might not be fair though. There are a lot of empty seats these days. Sellout streak is over. Perhaps the Front Office wanted to keep the old stars to fill the arena until we transition out of this pandemic. It is clear to me many enjoy #71 despite him being a negative player 5 on 5. The fanbase just wants highlights and memes.

Things aren't always black and white. The closest thing to something that simple is that age in undefeated.

They do this literally every year. Start like shit. Everyone cries for them to burn it down. Then it's "March" Of The Penguins memes while they go on some absurd streak of 16 wins in their last 21

The problem is their tendys cant stop a damn beach ball come playoff time

Malkin has been on the ice for 8 gfs and 6 gas against this year at 5v5.

Some people watch the game. Others chase stats.

Was he on the ice last night when the lead was blown? I wonder who made the lazy turnover.

People that post 100+ times during a game aren't really watching the game.
