After reading through your thread, I see there is a lot of anxiety going on. Just remember guys, it's the playoffs. Time to leave the negativity at the door, and rally around your club, and give it everything you've got as a fan. There's plenty of time afterward to be cynical. Cheer loud, and proud.

I'm not worried. I just don't think victory will be easy or guaranteed.

I'm happy with the season, tbh.

It's like the fans of this team don't actually remember how the Kings have finished up like the last five seasons and buy in to this meme of the Kings flipping some switch during the 2nd half.

They weren't going to win the division as mentioned by me three weeks ago or so. This is the Kings we are talking about! Now everyone is freaking out because of the Jets loss when, really, it was amazing they had a chance to win the division in the first place after Anaheim crapped all over the ice on their Canadian trip. The Ducks win those games like they should have and it would of been a moot point.

Kings choked at the end of 2012. Cup.

Kings finished 3rd in '14 and weren't great at the very end, plus Doughty got a little banged up. I don't think anyone was on here thinking that team was going to roll through the playoffs. Cup.

I lean negative but come on now...there are no clear-cut favorites in the West and every series is a toss-up except DAL/MIN, but it is Dallas so that could be surprising as well.

I've been saying it for awhile now, but this team is not head and shoulders above last year's squad but some on here ate up the division lead as if it confirmed the Kings were killers. Well, they dominate 3v3 OT compared to last year when they couldn't win in OT or the SO. Look at Saturday's game...get the best chance 3v3 but can't do anything once the PP ended and it was 4v4 the rest of the way. Then the SO was vintage '15.

Still, all we wanted last year was to get in because "built for the playoffs" or whatever. Well, that still hasn't been refuted so--until that happens--the doom and gloom should be kept to a minimum.

Very similar teams, should be unpredictable and fun. The mental component between these two could end up being very important for the Kings.

Regardless of the final standings and playoff seedings, this season the Kings best hockey is better than any other teams best hockey. The only team that concerns me is Chicago.

LeBrun saying Kings in 7. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing lol

This may be true. However, the problem lies in the fact that we'd then have to go up against the Ducks who, for all intents and purposes, will not have played a 7-game series against the Preds. We're SCREWED!!!!!!!!!

These playoff series against division rivals, namely interstate teams, are essential in further establishing traditions in our clubs' rivalries, relative to their early existence in the league. We've been around longer than SJ and ANA, but we need them to enriche our tradition. We don't quite have the storied rivalries that many of the east coast teams have; these germenate in a playoff series/atmosphere. All these recent series we have played against division foes are laying a great foundation for this particular narrative.

Think of all the storied rivalries in the NFL, and the east coast/Canadian teams. We needed SJ, and SJ needed us, imo.

Chicago will have a very very tough path to the WCF. St. Louis is a very physical team. That said I think Ladd steps up huge for the hawks.

Edit: Also Backes is still out..Big lose for the Blues.

Friendly sharks fan here (in New Zealand)

This is probably Thornton's/Marleau's last chance for anything, so I am pulling for them, but it should be a good, intense series. Lets hope for no injuries.

Milan Lucic is tough as woodpeckers lips, as they say down here.

lol - that's hilarious

you must be new around here :)
same thing happens every year we make the playoffs...no one believes how good this team can be until they are holding up the Stanley Cup

Sure the Kings have a chance but they really have no answer for Burns. Kings D looks even slower than last year's, probably unable to get the puck out of their own end against any sort of pressure. Only real hope is Shark mental fragility.

2012 was an easy ride. No real stanley cup expectations and being up 3-0 in every series. God that was nice.

One thing I hate about NHL playoffs is how drawn out it is. Teams should play more back to backs when there is no travel in between games, especially come second round when there are not 8 different matchups making TV schedule easier. In the 1st round there should be 4 games every night until a team is eliminated.

The NHL playoffs are the best, and they should be drawn out in order to keep viewers attention. Also if it ends sooner than the winning team would have longer to recuperate for next year...something most kings fans would agree is important.

Muzzin & Doughty on the back end are potential answers. Kopitar, Lucic, Lewis on forwards are answers as well. LA plays a godo team defense and Sutter can set matchups to stop whomever he wants..the issue becomes if they focus on burns who then has a better matchup for San Jose.

Edit: Also lets not underestimate Brown. He is overpaid but has been hitting a lot more since the last Edmonton game IMO, and may be extra motivated.

A quick start is going to be crucial. Quick few goals in the first, and physical and sustained forecheck throughout the game. The Kings will need to instill doubt in the Sharks and have them feeling apprehensive about this series.

I respect the Sharks and think they have a great team this year, but I feel really confident about winning this series. People need to stop equating the Kings' post-clinch play to how the Kings will play in the playoffs. Sutter clearly did not care about the division and was messing around with the lineups after the Kings clinched. Its similar to comparing results from pre-season play to how the team will perform on day one of the regular season.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see a completely different line up than what we have seen the last few games. My prediction is that Sutter roles with the following lines:

Pearson-Kopitar-Steeg
Lucic-Carter-Toffoli
Clifford-Lecavs-Gaborik
King-Lewis-Brown

Some might call this crazy because AA has been on fire (I myself might be in this group), but Sutter made comments after the Ducks game that he was concerned about the number of end zone draws AA's line had to take. Frankly, that is a real concern with the Sharks, considering that a clean draw and pass to Burns could lead to many goals.

I think your under estimating Nashville a bit if you think that will be an easy series for the Sucks. It will go at least 6 games and Ana could be in trouble if the Preds goalie shows up as he has been wildly inconsistent this year. There are no easy round one match ups in the west.
