top 3 defense (even though its the 'system', really) in the league as far as GAA is concerned, dont you forget that. the overwhelming majority of this Kings roster knows what it takes to dig deep and win. I think that fact in itself trumps everything else....momentum, Burns, Thornton, a hot goalie, or whatever else you can name. this team is full of playoff warriors that know how to win. no one wants to play the Kings

The kings cannot stay out of the penalty box and the pk is at alarming levels of poor performance. It was near the top in the first half of the season and has been trending towards the bottom. Sharks pp is 3rd best. Yeah, the boys won't make it easy on SJ but "digging deep" is rarely enough.

Offensively I think we have them beat. The defense is what I'm worried about but I'm hoping Scuderi and Schenns game are better suited for the playoffs. The Kings always perform better in the playoffs throughout the lineup. If Gabby plays we have the deepest lineup in the league.

I think a lot of teams are saying this. If Malkin plays, if McDonough plays, If Sequin Plays, if Peron plays. Point is every team is a little banged up and looks good on paper if all their guys are good to go. It's the next fleet up that need to be able to play. Mersch will be called on at somepoint.

They kind of shot themselves in the foot this year with another change they made. They are requiring many season ticket holders to pay for the whole playoffs up front, not just by round.

I imagine if they pay for whole playoffs and San Jose gets eliminated it would just get applied to next season's seasons tickets. Not a big deal for those fans planning on renewing, but those that were not or who were debating may not be too happy.

on the flip side San Jose has a piss poor PK as well..although I do not know if it has improved since bringing in Polak.

It can be a big deal if you could budget the money over multiple payments vs all at once up front.
I know when I had my seats before moving that would prevent me from being able to do it. I could afford the money being taken 4X and being over 4 paydays not all at once. Didn't like putting my tickets on plastic.

Most teams give the option of a full refund or credit for the following season.

I didn't renew my Ducks seats but did get playoff seats for this year. Even though I did not commit to next year, they still offered a two-part payment plan where I paid for Rounds 1-2 when I "renewed" and then Rounds 3-4 will be charged on Thursday, I believe.

That's a little over a month but it beats getting hit for ~$5K right away if you are trying to not pay any interest on them.

I read on the Sharks board that they froze playoff ticket pricing for Round 1, something the Kings have been doing since at least 2010 and the Ducks would have done if I renewed a full season. Apparently, this is the first time SJ has done this, or at least recently. Hard to believe that's true but, if so, that is another reason for the fan base to be unhappy.

Wait...WHAT? :amazed:

All this playoff talk is really hurting my stomach.. like badly.. I swear thinking about playoffs is the best laxative EVER! All this anxiety is gut wrenching haha

I have a bet with an infamous Ducks poster for $1K based on who will have the better five year period with 2014 being the first year. I've got the silver bullet right now with the Cup win but I became worried once it was evident they would roll Calgary. I wanted to hedge my bet since I knew Chicago was coming to town and I could make decent money on those seats so, if they went on to win the Cup, I'd make my $1K back in the event I lost the bet.

Long story short, selling tickets this season has been painful for the most part but I was able to come out ahead by $30 due to the Hawks series (Yay for 4 home games), even with donating a pair of tickets this season and then flat out forgetting to sell one game. Also went to two Kings games and benefited from concessions credit of $60 for one of the Kings games (free beer and junk food) plus ~$85 credit at Amazon from the credit card points used to buy them.

Would I do it again? No haha. Unless you can get a series against the Kings or Hawks, you won't be able to make up the loss in the regular season. Since I had the option of still getting discounted playoff tickets for this season without having to commit to the work of selling an entire season next year, I jumped on it in anticipation of an ANA/LA Round 2.

Gave it serious thought for next year with two Hawks games and three regular season Kings games in Anaheim as the loss wouldn't be as bad but the work isn't worth it in the long run.

Also feel bad that I've now supported the Ducks franchise via my wallet more so than many of the Ducks posters here at HF.

I'd rather play the Predators, but it's over and the good thing is travel is going to be much better. The Kings just have to be careful with the Sharks. They can't take anything for granted and we can't have a repeat of the last meeting. The Sharks are going to have a vendetta this series and no lead is safe against them. We need to play some of our best lockdown hockey yet. GO KINGS!

I was watching clips from the 2014 series with the Sharks and Voynov was on the ice for nearly all goals against. The Kings defense was also pretty suspect in all series and couldn't hold a lead.
