GDT: PDSF: (2) Los Angeles Kings vs. (3) San Jose Sharks

I was watching clips from the 2014 series with the Sharks and Voynov was on the ice for nearly all goals against. The Kings defense was also pretty suspect in all series and couldn't hold a lead.

Quite amazing that they won 4 games in that case!

This was pretty much our blue line for the entire ducks series.

What id like to see. I think Gravel is solid especially with his stick and Doughty would carry him. I think he is better than Mcnabb currently. Swap Scuderi and Mcnabb game to game .

Honestly, that's at least as good as our current blueline, if not better. I have zero faith in all three of Mcnabb, Schenn, and Scuderi.

Funny how people see things differently. My recollection was that Kings got beat pretty good the first two games, outplayed the Sharks in game 3 only to lose by a flukey OT goal, and then put the beatdown the next 4 games.

The two that are killing the lineup are Scuderi and Schenn. To me it will prove to be the mistakes of the year, along with Ehrhoff around. Should have groomed both Forbort and Gravel all year long. They'd both be ready for the playoffs by now.

Is it too much of a leap of faith to put Gravel in your top pair? The fact we do not have a definitive top pair locked in scars the crap out of me.

IIRC McClellan said as much, that even though it went 7 games it wasn't even close.

That's how I saw it as well. The Sharks putting out there top power play unit when it was already 6-2 in the 2nd game changed that series. That was a slap in the face of the Kings and woke them up. As well as ****ed them off.

Hard to believe, the canucks were the top team in the West and coming off a stanley cup appearance in 2012..not sure what San Jose has to be cocky about.

Then again I think the Sharks players get up to play LA more than any other team. So their fans should be confident that the players will be leaving it all on the line.

Agreed about Gravel, who should have stayed up when he was called up. But its probably too late to throw him in there, and we're stuck with Scuderi/Schenn (who hopefully won't be paired together). Gravel could at least be paired with Doughty. The coaches mishandled a young player that was ready in favor of dilapidated vets, ****ing pisses me off.

They kind of shot themselves in the foot this year with another change they made. They are requiring many season ticket holders to pay for the whole playoffs up front, not just by round.

Actually, there are choices. Personally, I do not have to pay a penny until a given round is over. Then I pay for the games played. Good luck but Go Sharks.

Just because he looks better than Scuderi doesn't mean he should be in a playoff lineup over him. Give me the battle-tested guy who knows that he might have to take some pretty nasty hits and endure punishment to make the right play. I don't think it would be fair to Gravel to ask him to play 20+ minutes in a pressure cooker series, either. That's how you potentially screw up an inexperienced players development, not by letting him watch.

He might get a shot anyways, I doubt the D stays healthy.
