That remains to be seen. But my point is, there isn't a better centre on the team. Neither Zacha nor Coyle, or even Krejci if he returns, are better centres. You don't put your best centre on the third line. I get the idea: yes, it would be great let Bergeron age into a support role (if he chooses to keep playing). He'd be possibly the best 3C in the game. But we don't have the young stud centres at 1C or 2C to allow him to do that.
I think if you give the best wingers (Marchand, Hall, Debrusk, Pasta, Bert if he returns) to Zacha and Coyle and have Bergeron anchor the 3rd line, it could work.

You really think that Krejci is better than Savard or Thornton? They both played with Bergy too.
What about Esposito and Sanderson?
Talking of winning it all!!! .. what did Savard and Thornton won as premier of their respective team!

I love Bergy. He’s one of my all time favorite players, but it’s time to move on.

The guy is pushing 40. If he comes back, it will be more of the same….He’ll play well the first half of the season, but as we get closer to spring, his body will break down and he’ll limp into and through the playoffs and we will all wonder what happened…..

That isn‘t his fault, and it’s not a knock on him. It’s just the effect of age on the human body. Mentally, you think you can still do it, and might WANT to still do it. Physically, you just can’t anymore.

Anybody over the age of 35 knows exactly what I’m talking about…

Maybe they didn't have as good teams than Bergy and Krejci. And now we didn't talk about winning it all. In my mind if we are talking about best two centers then maybe Savard or Thornton with Bergy we're better centers than Bergy and Krejci. And when people are talking about Pasta nothing else matter than points so Savard had three full season with Boston. 96, 78 and 88 points. Krejci has played 15 seasons and his best seasons are 73, 73 and 69 points

When the Bruins won in 2011, I thought for sure they were off and running. They were going to be the new kings of the NHL and essentially do what the Blackhawks did. 2009 and 2010 were learning experiences and now (2011) they're going to win the Cups we never got in the Bourque-Neely Era.

How absurd that all seems now...

It stings man and its bittersweet. Much to appreciate without a doubt. Much to be disappointed in with what has been left behind on the table..ughh

Yup.

I didn't appreciate 2011 enough because I was so shocked that the Bruins actually won. It never really sank in. Sometimes I wonder if they actually did it.

The Bruins are the 90's Braves, that's all. Had a lot of talent, could've won more, had to settle for one.

The Big Smoke (unfortunately)
Fans are lucky to have been able to watch Bergy play all these years. Guy put his heart and soul into the Bruins. I hope he makes the right decisions for his health and family. Still a young guy with years ahead of him. Might even show up there in the rafters beside the pigeons and Neely. :)
Might?

Maybe. Loved his game.
or if they kept Seguin.
I think that's a reach.

His paltry 4 assists against Chicago in 2013 didn't make the difference.

And he's a slimy little rodent. If he was on my team, I would have beaten him within an inch of his miserable life. He was THE reason one of the most clutch playoff goal-scorers in Bruins history wanted to leave. Seguin might have COST the Bruins a Cup or two.

Don't believe everything you read, especially here of all places. Also Horton signed w Columbus the day after.

Funny how Seguin is the scape goat with "only" 4 assists but Brad Marchand, the real culprit goes pointless in all 6.

What was Horton's problem with Seguin?

Are we doing another summer of Bergeron Amateur Hour

Dude had 27 goals will win 10th or whatever Selke

He played with a herniated freakin disk in the playoffs

How anyone with an ounce of hockey knowledge not want him back is beyond me

The real reason is clear to me - you don’t want him back because the Bruins hurt you and you know he’s such a big component in their success if he goes the demise will start- and then you can complain and wallow in misery

Absolutely want him back

Oh, buuuuuh he played game 82 and he ruined my life ……get over it

I think he comes back for next year.

If he does come back, this needs to be a wakeup call for the Bruins if they're hoping to compete. They can't expect Bergeron to be the warhorse for them and do all the heavy lifting. Come spring, his body is broken. They need to save Bergeron from himself and Marchand too to an extent; Monty needs to coach accordingly - a healthy Bergeron is a difference maker and would have tilted this series and needs his minutes and on-ice role limited.

Also doesn’t include Seguin gift wrapping a goal for Kaspars Daugavins only for him to miss an open net

All because Daugevens F’d up

They won 2 games in Florida without him convincingly

They can run up 115 point team easily and trade deadline go all in again

They can run back almost all pre trade deadline group

Last summer it’s a no playoff team and here we are again same premise lol

I think the Bruins are still strong enough without Bergeron/Krejci to be a playoff team. But tweaks need to be made if we're going to get over on some of these other playoff teams.
