Pastrnak 5 Min Major & Game Misconduct for Hit on Lindgren

Couple things:
  1. Bad hit by pasta, another game or 2 is probably warranted
  2. I suspect he expected Lindgren to turn off the boards with the puck and his plan was to blow him up shoulder to shoulder but that didn't happen (doesn't change what he actually did)
  3. Lindgren should look into Rogaine before things get worse

That Boston legal weed must hit different
It does. If I could travel back 20 years and tell my high school self that not only would weed be legal but it would be better than the headiest of headies we used to seek out... well, I wouldn't have done anything since I was a lazy pot head. But I'd be pretty psyched for the future.

"Targeting". Whiny homer.

Two minute minor hit. Lindgren bailed on taking a hit and Pastrnak drove through the arm.

This title needs to be changed. Embarrassing.
Your avatar is embarrassing. That was 12 years ago. Get the net!

Pastranak basically made a bee line from the blue line straight into Lindgren's spine. Throw the book at him. 😉

Based on the angle he took, swinging it wide, it seemed to me he was trying to come in from the side and get the left shoulder. Lindgren turns to the right when Pastrnak is leaning in for contact and gets pasted into the boards.

Dont like the hit. Dirty and the player in a very dangerous position. Saw the numbers all the way and didnt let up. Should be a couple of games.
The premeditated part got removed from my title but there’s important context missing here, this was the second massive run Pasta took at Lindgren tonight; and they had a history from last game. So it was very much intentional

It’s a bad hit, but what exactly is he supposed to do when Lindgren coasts laterally with his back to the play?

A lot of threads on this board get inundated with “keep your head up” bullshit, but this is an example of a play where the hit-ee actively lines himself up for a dangerous hit. This is the NHL, if you are in the corner with the puck a guy is coming. This thing about deliberately showing numbers needs to be coached out of the game from mites on up.

That you, Torts?

I don’t disagree with your assessment of the league in general, but i think Lindgren turns later than you’ve described.

On top of spaghetti
All covered with cheese
I lost my poor Pasta
When Bergy cap squeezed.
He retired off of the table
and into the bush
and now Dave's whole psyche
is nothing but mush.

There are opportunities all game to injure opponents in all sports. Usually they’re not taken. Not sure what you expect. There’s such a thing as checking a guy without blowing him up.

Pastrnak has problems. People call Tom Wilson a sociopath and they’ll even level it against Pastrnak’s teammate Marchand, but that’s exactly what Pastrnak is.

He cheapshotted Lindgren to injure him last season and was trying to injure him again in this game.

He’s one of those few players in the league I have no respect for.

What the f*** are you talking about?

If he's "coasting with his back to the play" he's not making a sudden move and not eligible to be hit like that. "What are you supposed to do?" Well... pin him. Do, like, anything but launch through his upper body.

I love how you're all over the technicality of the rules in every other sense and like to play referee but suddenly now you're "if you have the puck you need 360 radar"... your back still has to be towards someone eventually. It's almost kind of like that's why there are rules to protect it while also protecting against the abuse of it. Here there's no change of position, no swift and sudden reason for Pastrnak to get confused, he just races from the slot to tee off on a guy who never did anything but show numbers.

Seriously, what?!

It was a bad hit, fine, we get it.

Holy overreaction

There's a simple measuring stick for a case like this - would Pasta do the same if this was a Cup game?
Well, unless he's suddenly gone completely braindead and would for some reason like to piss off the fans, the teammates and coaches that is.

PS he's been targeting Lindy the whole game, including pushing him into a zebra in one episode.
