Hagg is nowhere near as dynamic offensively as Gostisbehere, even if he reaches his ceiling.

I think has the ability to be a better two way d man then Ghost.
I agree with Metzlers comparison to a more physical Kim Johnsson.

People are under estimating his skating.

I think it's a pretty reasonable statement to make that Ghost's ceiling is higher than Hagg's. That doesn't mean Hagg can't or won't be better, but that if both players reach their potential, Ghost will be a more valuable piece.

I like Hagg, but I don't see it in him to be more than a strong #3 (eg, Hjalmarsson). I think realistically, he ends up as a solid #4 guy which is perfectly fine. I just don't see the complete package with him, and I expect to watch him and get the same feeling we get with Coburn-- the one where you know he has all the tools to be an impact player but never hits that level with regularity.

In regard to Fleury (where this discussion started), I would easily take Morin and Ghost ahead of him. Fleury isn't dominant enough in any one area to have quite the potential that those two have.

Also, I believe McKenzie's list comes out tomorrow. His is a consensus list compiled from various NHL scouts. His is the best indicator of the prevailing opinion of the pros who are ultimately judging these players. With so much parity this year, it may not resemble the final results in the draft, but it's still interesting to see where guys who have wild swings in rankings like Milano, Vrana, Fiala, Kapanen, DeAngelo, etc. stack up.

EDIT: Nice call lancer, Muzzin is pretty much what I see out of Hagg.

It does, tweet from Bob McKenzie earlier today:
TSN Top 60 rankings will be released simultaneously at 7:30 pm ET on tsn.ca. Crazy draft year. More difficult than ever to get consensus.

gonna be real interesting to see how this draft plays out...i think the flyers wont be able to control themselves and trade up.

one of the dmen i thought we could get easily if we wanted him, sanheim, looks like he might go top 10. wow, just climbing up the board.

in a perfect world who are your top three choices of those likely available at 17?

This draft doesn't seem like the one to really gain by moving up. All the players are so close.

what do you guys think is the worst case scenario for this draft?

WHen looking at our needs vs what is available , the two match up. We need a top 6 forward prospect and this is a forward heavy draft. But I must say there is a chance we could be picking from a small assortment of players at 17.

There is a chance that the top forwards on board could be Fiala, barbashev, kempe, larkin, and Ho sang. I think this would be our worst case scenario. Though i do like Ho sang i don't see the flyers going for him.

The worst case scenario would be taking a goalie in round 1. I don't know why the scenario you lay out would be a bad one, the Flyers will still end up with a prospect that should hopefully project to be a top 4 defenseman or top 6 forward.

No way they take a goalie in round one, very slim chance they take a defender, so I'd be shocked if they don't take a forward. What I'm worried about is that they take a forward who's big and tough instead of one with 1st line potential. I want someone skilled.

I would be shocked if the Flyers selected Ho Sang. I've never seen the Flyers make a pick like that

What is going to be interesting is to see if their drafting ways change under Hexy. I know Homer is still with the team but it is technically Hexy calling the shots.

I'm actually starting to like Brendan Lemieux, I don't like his value at #17 but if the board doesn't shake out that great wouldn't mind trading back into the late first taking him & scooping up an extra second.

i would love it if we could grab Perlini, Milano or Tuch in the 1st, and then maybe trade up to a high 2nd and grab either Marcus Pettersson or Anton Karlsson.

Soooo people here are obviously gonna disagree but there has been some debate that some scouts see Ekblad's upside as going to be like Luke Schenn. The scouts that dont like Ek think that at 18 he wont be much better at 24.

For those who want a source look up Gare Joyce.

I know alot of people here LOVE Ek so.... Time to freak out ;)

That's absolutely ridiculous. He plays a more poised and rounded game NOW than Schenn ever has or ever will. He's an infinitely better skater and his rookie year point total is Schenns high in juniors. It's not even close. Probably the worst possible comparison for Ekblad. He's literally a complete opposite player.
