1. The first part is an undisputable fact, he is in terrible shape. He ended last season on the IR, a remote chance that could be behind it, but not something I would bet on.

2. I also wonder how long it will take for him to get going. It’s not like years have passed between his last game in 20/21 and this season.

3. Many of his turnover are classic signs of being gassed. But knock on wood, at least he isn’t getting run over. Because that is also a risk when you are that gassed.

4. Any talk about Gallant holding Panarin back is ridiculous in light of the above.

5. I mentioned it at the time, when Gallant during like the 2-3 first interviews into camp underlined that ‘everyone’ had showed up in fantastic shape, not one exception, I immediately posted about how it seemed like he was covering for someone, indirect giving a message to the players that externally he got their backs.

No matter what, I do like for sure that these things are kept in the locker room. I mean it de facto comes back to haunt the coach. Vince, Brooks and co can’t tell if a player is gassed on the ice, they will ask questions what Gallant is doing to hold back Panarin so much. But the alternative is worse. It sticks out when you throw a player under the bus like the former regime was so keen on.

I'm a huge fan of Panarin, but if I knew he was a smoker I would have never signed him.

Our schedule has been horrible

The back end of the schedule is beautiful. In the month of April, their furthest travel for a game is Boston, maybe Philly. They've banged out the Western Canada trip already, which is traditionally a struggle for them. January is the California trip with Arizona and Vegas in there.

While they may not have some long homestands, there are some nice stretches with limited travel. From November 21 through December 4th, they travel only to Boston for a game. All the others are at home or they go to UBS Arena, so there is basically no travel there. So far their travel has been rough. Multiple trips into Canada, and the trip from Toronto to Nashville and then to Ottawa was strange.

Let's hope this is part of the issue. This was the first game back after a long trip. Usually that is an issue for teams. Rest up and get back to it on the weekend.

He’s smokin in between periods, sometimes in between shifts he walks into the tunnel to spark one up. LOL he meant it was a fact that he’s out of shape right now, not that it’s a fact that he smokes

I always love this work by vally but there is something telling here

yes the panthers had 45 shots. But 24 of them are low danger as we were saying they threw a lot at the net with no traffic. We just don’t take those shots very often. We look to make a play instead. 24 low danger chances. That’s crazy.

So yes 11 high danger chances to our 7 but when you’re up 4-0 that’s going to happen. Just like football when teams put up a ton of yards in garbage time losing big.

I thought there were swings in that game were we played very well and coming off a long trip that’s always tough to do. I mean out of our measly 4 home games 2 are off long road trips where there is always a let down. The two legit home games we played we dominated mostly.

I mean wasn't the first FLA goal Hornqvist punching Igor down? Even if he was pushed it was a minor push and the contact clearly set FLA up to score. I get not wanting to risk a PK but if it's obvious then you make the call to review it. I do like GG yelling at the refs that they needed to call it on their own instead of requiring a review.

It was a long game and physically taxing for Igor, took a lot of bumps and hits (seems to happen too much to him), delayed whistles, also seemed stretched his leg out a bit causing discomfort while he was covering the puck at the post while doing full out splits in the 3rd- it's not ideal but it is understandable he lost a little focus at the very end on the 2 goals. Ziba really needs to make sure he gets the puck off the faceoff right before the 3rd FLA goal too, unacceptable. It caused Igor to 'relax' for a split second and ZIP the puck went 5 hole.

I'm really surprised at some of your reactions. Especially people who I have known here for 12-15 years. It is almost as if you completely forgot the first 5-7 years of the Lundqvist era. This is it. Team plays like poo poo -> Lundqvist wins us a game we shouldn't win -> makes some mistakes in the process but is still otherwise a god -> we play like dookie all year -> still make the playoffs and somehow make noise -> fall short -> call for the coach to be fired in the off season -> rinse repeat.

I was certainly hoping to do things a little differently this go round. Silly me.

Just came here to say that 45 shots against doesn't bother me nearly as much as 18 shots for. This team has had good and bad games with keeping shots against reasonable and low. They have yet to have a good game generating shots. They miss the net from six feet in, they refuse to shoot unless it's directly off a pass.

I wish these guys weren't all the type to be happy with 2 points. Even some of the teams that are 'worse' than us play with a more pride. They should try to win every game 7-0, not 2-1. They should take every check against them personally, to a man. They should keep their feet moving and their sticks down on the forecheck. The Rangers more than any team I watch--except maybe Vancouver--are so in the clouds. A little arrogance would be nice, a chip on the shoulder. It's not just compete or working hard, it's being spiteful, making teams pay for every inch they dare to try to take... IDK, just my thoughts this morning from that game.

My opinion: not a bad game from the Rangers this year. But we are missing that feeling that we have something to prove and we show teams waaay too much respect all over the ice.

Our schedule sucks all year honestly we don’t even have a legit homestand this year. Most we have are a couple 3 game blocks at home.

we’ve still got another 4 game road trip and a 5 game trip on the calendar. But not one home stand of 4 or more games.

I just moved into a rental house with a nice man-cave basement where I hung a new 4k TV and put my old couch. Want to invite over a friend who is a Rangers fan on game nights throughout the season. He's actually like a Rangers fan from a while back and hasn't been into it much the last decade or so, trying to get him back into it and he can be my Rangers buddy in town. Was thinking I'd invite him over for the next Friday or Saturday night home game, cause home games are such better atmosphere to watch then when they are playing on the road against, like, Calgary or Edmonton.

I just noticed that the Rangers have very few Friday or Saturday night home games. Is that normal? Cause it seems awfully shitty. Pouring through the schedule, I'm like, damn, the next fricking Rangers weekend-evening home game is like late December or some shit? WTF?

Edit: oh, they have Friday and Saturday at home Dec 3-4, but I'm away. Not again till Dec 17 home vs Vegas.... then not again till ONCE on Sat Jan 22nd against.... whooopeee... Arizona.

Why are there no damn weekend evening home games?

We’re opportunistic.

that’s part of the problem though… we’re one and done in the offensive zone. We have no zone time therefore we have minimal lower percentage scoring chances. Opposite is true for our opponents

Well...Bossy was a huge smoker....Lafleur a big smoker....so there is that . Plus Zubov ...all 3 in the HOF . They have a few cups in their resumes .

A time and a place...this was not either .You know that.

Actually, I don't know that.

The premise for bringing in Reaves, Tinordi et al was to address these things when they happen, not in some nebulous make-believe future.

When Wilson pulled his shit last season, many here were appalled that it wasn't addressed when it happened.

It's what caused everyone to get fired.

The difference was acquiring Panarin at a much later stage in his career.

I said it last night. Shesty had a lot of shenanigans pulled on him. We all saw it was more than one play too. Him being dog piled on, ran over and that time when he was covering the puck in a full split( it was like each ball found a new home with the ankle) and the ref refusing to kill the play.

Meanwhile the only goalie interference called was against Knight. Although to be fair even that was missed prior to replay.

I get saying this after the Nashville or Seattle games, but they went up 4-0 and it was 4-1 with like 90 seconds to go. The score ended up 4-3. How did they try to win 2-1?

So in addition to this being the first game back from a long road trip, this was also a third game in four nights and the other two games were in Western Canada. We played the best team in the NHL. The result was borderline miraculous.

They were on their heels from the start... maybe the better way to put it is trying to win by 7 rather than by 1. I don't really care about the last minute flurry from the Panthers--and frankly, I thought the game in Nashville along with Columbus were the only two games I've seen the Rangers play with the kind of attitude I'm describing.

There is always a time and place.

A close game that you have the lead in, you take a number and circle back another game.

Been that way for 100 years
