Post-Game Talk: Panthers at Rangers

Torts is not going to be fired when while we're contending for the playoffs. I agree, a coaching change would be nice and trading Torts and Sullivan for someone like Lindy Ruff would give us a boost, but it won't happen during the season.

What can and will happen during the season is player trading. Players I would like to see gone:

Gaborik
Richards
Boyle
Del Zotto
Gilroy
Bickel

Nash lost my respect after that hit. Not only is he floating half the game, playing no defense, he gets frustrated when things don't go his way and he makes a dirty hit. Sad thing is, now that he's the whole team ( making Gaborik and Richards expendable), these fans are clinging on tot he thought of him being some kind of international "superstar" oh please.

Look at Columbus's identity. Looks kind of like we switched identity's right? I wonder why?

Do you post after wins?

Nash is far from this team's problem, so just stop dude.

We didn't switch identities. Torts is employing the same system he was last year with a completely different team. You seem to be anti-Torts, you should get this.

Wrong. The coach is supposed to put them in a position to succeed. There were plenty of chances, they just can't finish. Put a couple of decent scorers from other teams in those situations and we score 5+ tonight.

Gaborik, Richards, Nash, Stepan, Callahan, Hagelin.

Those are "decent scorers".

I should rephrase. Richards and Gaborik have not played up to their standard at all. Gaborik, IMO, has been playing well as of late, with tonight being his best game.

Still, the offensive zone strategy, if there even is any, is mind boggling. There's hardly anyone ever in the slot, they never use the point men or take shots from the point. If they do take shots from the point, they hesitate long enough to take away the lane. It's just simple and stupid mistakes they're making. Tortorella says "he doesn't coach offense". Well, if this team is going to succeed, he better damn well start.

How many of those 45 shots were quality chances? I'll venture to guess that the Panthers actually had more scoring chances.

You'd be off the mark. They weren't all great but we had more quality chances than Florida.

I'm mostly just disinterested right now. Occasionally I decide to muster up some care, and I'm just constantly rewarded with a game like tonight. It's too hard to actively follow. I'll still cheer for the team, NYC's in my blood, but I'm not gonna continue to support this group right now. I hope they make the playoffs, and I hope they do some damage, but I don't believe in it and I'm unwilling to watch the journey.

Same here.

Actually started following the Hawks before this season started, which makes the above decision much easier to follow.

And the current trade talk. Just complete disinterest with whats going on with this team.

Next 4 games may seal this team's fate as the outside looking in. Have to start Lundqvist again. If they make the playoffs, he'll be completely gassed.

I will be surprised if we win a single game out of our next 4.

Will people stop complaining about effort? The effort is there. They are what they are. 4 scorers and the rest grinders and penalty killers...yay!! Halpern, Powe, Boyle, Pyatt, Miller, Kreider literally have 6 goals...maybe 1 since February?

Believe me, I'm all for Tortorella getting his walking papers, and never having to see his rat face ever again. But I hate the idea of Ruff as a replacement. I see him as basically the same guy.

Agreed.

They actually started to get good scoring chances when they *gasp* went to the net.

Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan and Kreider-Boyle-Miller were our best two lines. Kreider had his best game of the season tonight, I thought. He was hustling, moving his feet, and that line was generating chances more often than not.

Nailed it here. How many times tonight did we see a Rangers play controlling the puck behind the Florida net, looking to make a pass, with no one set up in the crease waiting for it? Let me tell you, lots. It's because the system has the other two forwards along the boards waiting for the pass, instead of in a high scoring position. It's cycle-cycle-cycle, tire yourself out instead of the dmen, lose the puck, odd man rush the other way. It's a dumb system with the wrong players playing it.

And don't get me started on our defensemen. We have some pretty offensively talented defensemen who are being underutilized. They all pull the same move, a little shoulder juke to move the forward coming to te point, and then fire a weak wrister that gets blocked. Yawn.

That might have been the worst collective 40 shots on goal I've ever witnessed. Honestly, I think I could have stopped 39 of them.

Callahan happy with the number of shots.

********.

No chances. Markstrom should have laid down in the crease and taken a nap. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Can't wait to see Torts canned. He can go back to TSN.

Need a new coach to inspire this group. No-one on the team seems to care.

I am sick of Richards already. This guy is the new Drury
