From The Athletic:

Pacioretty also shared that he had a different surgical technique done than the other players who had the same injury.

“I actually had a minimally invasive technique which is a little bit newer and different,” he said. The idea is that there’s less scar tissue with this particular procedure. Which may or may not lead to a quicker healing process. “Everyone says it’s a four to six months recovery,” Pacioretty said. “Two months is a big difference.”

Pacioretty was skating last week, wasn't he? Wondering if he'll be available in january or even December?

You guys realize this is a severed achilles tendon in a guy in his mid 30's, right? Who has a history of injuries? As a guy who who has been busted up from here to Sunday and has a whole lot of friends the same- he may not come back from this. It's a BFD. Yeah- Raleigh Ortho is great and all, but...

Just put some duct tape on him and make sure he can play in the playoffs. That's all we need.

He doesnt need the burst from his feet like he would in another sport. its very conceivable that he returns no worse for wear from this.

What happens when Andersen comes back? Is Pyotr getting sent down to the minors? Or do they move Raanta?

Asking for fantasy hockey purposes lol

Best guess is Pyotr goes back to the AHL but I think no one will know for sure until it happens. And even if he does get sent down odds are Freddie or Raanta gets hurt again... There is a small chance Pyotr's play earns him a spot with the Canes this year even if we're fully healthy but I think that's much less likely

The shitty thing about it is that he’s played better than Andersen and Raanta when they were both deemed “healthy”.
