Preds fan here. Poile helping out his old buddy Shero it looks like. It looks terrible on paper for the Preds here but it's a free agency move on our part and fortunately for you guys, you're the beneficiary. In a perfect world we're basically viewing this as PK for picks, prospects and Duchene.

Congrats on the move. PK is awesome. I'll wish him all the best.

Can you tell us more on what to expect from PK? I know he had a tough year but do you expect him to bounce back?

I think you guys might have something with Jeremy Davies. A lot of us are high on him. He's not far off from the NHL

Reasonable concerns.

Apparently few people think so, which makes me wonder how many people here watched any Predators games last year. There was a significant drop-off in Subban's play, and you really have to hope his injury was nagging him and that it was an acute back injury, and not a chronic back injury. Subban himself said he was at 100%, but it sure didnt look like it. Again, this isnt just me talking, if you listened to NHL Network on Sirius XM over the last 3 days, a possible trade of Subban was one of the hot topics, and pretty much everyone expressed concern about his future. So yes, I'm "concerned" about this.

It’s a risk but a decent one. Hard to get top D especially at that price. Let’s hope the injury bug doesn’t strike again this year.

He's a really fluid skater but his straight line speed isn't good. He's agile but slow so he relies on instincts and positioning which isn't a problem with him. (BTW his D partner here was Mattias Ekholm. There's a common misnomer that it was Josi.) Offensively he's basically a big shot with good vision. He doesn't do a lot of finessing(?) anymore and seemed to rely mainly on his slapper more than maybe he needed to, especially on the PP. Now, with all that said he didn't have a Hughes or Hall in Nashville so he may be able to get free far more easily than he could here.

One thing you'll immediately notice is how you'll just focus on him without even trying. He's so overanalyzed it's crazy. Habs fans told us that and I didn't believe it. Sure enough you'll see it too.

As long as he's not playing through nagging injuries I'd expect you to be pleased and for him to bounce back so to speak

I hear you, i really do. But it's an acceptable risk, and my eyes at best a medium one.

I hear you about a slow rebuild, but.... getting 2 first overall picks in the past 3 years has to push that forward. Plus - the team DOES need to sell tickets. This entices Hall to stick around, maybe. And if not - then you trade Hall for picks.

PK is still a valuable asset, that we have acquired. Our team is now both competitive and more fun to watch this year, and also still rebuilding for the future. PK's contract ends right when Hughes gets a raise.

sooner or later you have to make deals, we can't keep hoarding picks, prospects and cap space. besides, even if you're so inclined to believe he's declining a lot he only has 3 more years left on his contract, his big cap hit will be off the books before it really matters for us. we're getting a top pairing defenseman for basically nothing. if you want to be a pessimist and just look at the negatives go ahead, but this was 100% worth whatever risk there might be, and it shows Hall that we're committed to winning.

People are underestimating how much having a bomb from the point will dramatically change the whole dynamic of the powerplay.

Don't get me wrong, Subban play in his own end is often left to be desired, but I can cope with that if he produces a lot

As a Northeastern alumn I'm pretty disappointed at not having an NU prospect anymore, especially since I'm higher on Davies than most (think he's got Greene-level potential)...but this was still a great value trade.

Kind of really excited, kind of really bummed out.

50/50.

Full salary, (2) 2nd round picks and 2 prospects. That is a lot.

I think Ray should have overpaid for Trouba (23 years old) rather than Subban at 30.

On a positive note Subban is a real competitor and does not slack off too much. He should help the PP out. We now have some real talent.

Subban might also bring in some of the Newark locals as new NHL fans.

we got a legit top 4 DMan and gave up no roster players and no 1st round picks

I have no idea how anyone could be upset at this

Wow another Player I grew to hate. First Edwin Encarnación for the Yankees. Now PK for the Devils.

Just like Edwin hitting Home Runs PK Scoring Goals and causing havoc I'll get over both.
