And now instead of the Devils getting Bobby Brink, he's going directly to one of the biggest rivals, the Flyers. Add that "cost" to the Subban trade too.

What’s the added cost? We already knew the Devils gave up that pick. Is this cost that the Flyers traded up for that pick? I couldn’t care less

And we got Jack Hughes... calm down. Forum needs thumbs down button to go with like button

PK Subban has been my favorite non-Devil for eight years. I always hoped we'd find a way to get him.

PK Subban is a New Jersey Devil.
PK is my favorite player but I hope this doesn’t bite us in the ass.
The value was great but I think we needed a defenseman who was more of a defensive specialist. If the other two way D can now focus more on defense then it may work.
I hope it does.

Lol ‘added cost’. Pick #34 was Nashvilles and Nashville could do whatever they want with it and the Flyers decided to trade future picks for #34.

It's a great day for the Devils. Adding to Hughes a player the caliber of PK Subban is just insane. The Devils are certainly a playoff threat this season, and the chances of resigning Taylor Hall just went through the roof.
This was really a two-prong trade because not only did it deliver us an elite defensemen we sorely needed but it will keep for us an elite forward we desperately couldn't afford to lose. If anyone has issues with this trade then they're missing the bigger picture here.

no, thats not how hockey works.

There is no "add" to the cost of the trade. What nonsense.

Well, apparently there is. My point is, there was no point in that, Nashville HAD to get rid of Subban, and there were few potential suitors for two reasons:

1) Only a few teams can absorb Subban's $9M per for 3 seasons
2) Some believe P.K. Subban is not P.K. Subban anymore

Point being, I highly doubt Nashville walks if you give them #55 instead of #34. Just an unnecessary addition of a more valuable asset. At #34 you're still in the "almost sure thing NHL players" in this draft, whereas in the #50'ish area there's more doubt. Which is precisely why you're seeing numerous trades down into the #30s right now.

Excuse me for a sec, if I'm a bit un-PC but it needs to be said.

Subban is AMAZING not just for our team, but for our state and immediate community.

Being real, there's quite a few poorer communities in NJ, some being predominately black. So to have a sports star for NJ's ONLY team who is larger than life playing in Newark of all places? Kids in these communities growing up are going to have someone to really look up to and aspire to be. And we KNOW Subban will be active in the community. He's got a great track record of doing so.

For a supposed top 10 dman, getting traded twice before the age of 30 isn’t a great look.

And one thing we badly needed was a bomb from the point. This will open up the PP a lot

This deal was a steal IMO, but PK is not a great PP player. Preds had league worst PP last year, and PK has struggled to get his shot through for years.

Still, great player and deal
