Agreed with the sentiment that oilers will pick him up. It allows us to start pulj in the ahl for 40 games. If pulj shows he is ready, then there will be a trade market for a scorer in February.

I'd like the Oilers to put in a claim. But I'll actually be pretty stunned if it does happen. I think the Oilers have their heart set on starting Puljujarvi in the NHL even though he's not ready.

If anything, Chiarelli and McLellan are assuring us that they won't put young players in tough spots. Signing Russell and thus pushing down Davidson- who actually played very well in a top-4 role last season- is exhibit A of that strategy.

Something MacTavish and Tambellini never did...

Ya, this "tito" thing made me irrationally angry when I read it.

How the **** is a neutral fan (this is the trade board) supposed to know that Tito is Anthony Beauvillier??? Are we expected to know the nickname of junior players now as well as NHL players??

On topic, this is a short-sighted move be Isles management. Its bad form to waive a ufa before the season even starts. Guys who are looking for 1-year "comeback" deals are probably gonna avoid the Islanders if they can

Nah, they just better come to play. Isles roster is deep and I said to a friend last night that PAP looked lazy. That was my only comment on the players.

This is sort of weird in the sense the Islanders are extremely thin at RW. Other then Clutterbuck, they basically have Ho Sang on the farm and will have to move either a LW or Center to play RW. You think they would have kept PAP just as depth if they had no use for him on the first line

I'm shocked so many people want their teams to claim him...

stay away. Small, slow, poor defensively. Can he kill penalties?
He's not putting up 20 goals, and he only put up more assists with Tavares 5 years ago. There's a reason he can't stay with a team.

Dude just scored 20 in 77 with Bozak and Matthais as his most common linemates. Led all Leafs in pts/60, led all Leafs in 5x5 points. 5x5 points comparable to Giroux, Mackinnon, Getzlaf, Vorachek

To add to that his possession stats, including shot supression, are very good

Yeah and most Leaf fans were hoping to get him back on the same type of deal he signed with the Isles.

I thought he acquitted himself very well last year

I wonder if Babs will go for him. Seemed like a great fit.

Maybe Pulk tho as he knows him from Red Wings and younger to fit in with youth movement

This hurts Snow's GM rep. He might even lose a phone at the draft :shakehead

Last year was sort of magic in a bottle for him, he managed to stay healthy and was given top offensive minutes by default on a dead last team, and still only managed 41 points. Decent, but not great.

Trying to get those minutes when he's a year older and on a better team was always going to be an uphill battle, plus chances are he'd struggle to stay as healthy as he did last year. Not overly surprised to see him waived.

Id wouldnt classify be saddled with Bozak and Matthias as "top offensive minutes". Was Leafs best 5x5 producer. 4 less points that Kadri (2nd on Leafs in overall scoring). 20 goals is his career average too
