For someone like me who saw him play about 50 times in Shawinigan, I can't say he is ahead of schedule. Always been a beast and so complete player. You're lucky to have him, I still wish Habs would have taken him instead of Juulsen :banghead:

Glad to hear this. I meant in terms of making the NHL, we weren't expecting him so soon if he does make it.

Surprised by this, but the silver lining is that this organization feels our bluechip prospect kiddies are ready to play immediately. Lot of people are saying Ho-Sang will make the team, but my guess is that Barzy and Beau (or "Tito" I guess is his new nickname) both make the team, with Barzal starting the year as JT's right winger.

The problem with PAP is that he's a top-6 or bust player. Other guys are defensively responsible to play 3rd or 4th line minutes when they get kicked outta the top 2, but there are other guys in the league who look absolutely lost when asked to switch to a more defensive line.

As has been said before in this thread and is 100% true, let your prospects earn their spots over veterans. If they earn it, let them have it. Rushing a prospect to the pro stage is dangerous, but so is holding a ready-to-go prospect in the minors for financial reasons.

Actually wouldn't mind Calgaey claiming him and trying him with JG and Monahan... That #1 line is still begging for some kind of RW

I thought they were really lacking in right wingers. He must have had a really bad camp.

Depends on the team.

Take the Blackhawks for example. Their 3rd line isnt a grinding or checking line. Theyre a bum-slaying 3rd offensive line, given the softest starts against weak competition. Parenteau could thrive in such a bottom6/top9 role.

He probably wouldnt work on the Toews or Kruger line, since they get the tougher QoC and zone starts.

We already had a go-around with this guy. No thanks.

Lol, he played 5 games on a dog**** Blackhawks team as a raw kid.

You easily take a 20 goal, strong possession player like Parenteau on this team over the likes of Mashinter, Tootoo, Hartman, etc.

PaP is a totally different player now than he was when he first got here (the first time around). He was raw as hell, and had no idea where to be on the ice (used to bump into his line mates constantly). By the end of that first season, he was absolutely a serviceable top 6 forward.

Glad to hear this. I meant in terms of making the NHL, we weren't expecting him so soon if he does make it.

Beauvillier has been the most impressive out of all the kids this training camp. His skating has seemed to improve and he's almost right there with Barzal/Ho-Sang in how they can motor. His versatility is a huge plus, he is able to play in the bottom-6 unlike the other guys.

When he was drafted, the analysts were high on him and said he could play any of the forward position aside from #1C. From what I've seen, he looks like the best bet to stick all season.

Really? They didn't even give him a chance after what he had previously did with Tavares. Wow. I mean I get it he's not a world beater but he had performed extremely well with Tavares not that long ago.

I'm surprised by this considering I thought he was pretty much locked in on Tavares' wing to open the season.

So... Isles are going with three kids in their opening night lineup with Barzal, Beauvillier and Ho-Sang?

those are the teams that i see that could potentially claim him since they have a spot open (on a quick glance)

Can't stand these nicknames that nobody knows the hell they are. Is it really so difficult to type out the whole damn name?

(Not directed at you)

Ya, this "tito" thing made me irrationally angry when I read it.

How the **** is a neutral fan (this is the trade board) supposed to know that Tito is Anthony Beauvillier??? Are we expected to know the nickname of junior players now as well as NHL players??

On topic, this is a short-sighted move be Isles management. Its bad form to waive a ufa before the season even starts. Guys who are looking for 1-year "comeback" deals are probably gonna avoid the Islanders if they can

Apparently, the 'Tito' thing is Beauvillier's twitter handle and has been a nickname for him for a little while. Isles fans had nothing to do with it. We call him 'Tony B', 'Beau', etc... things that make some freaking sense.

This move is completely out of left field, but it's really not when you consider the bizarre moves this organization routinely makes.

All of the best playoff teams roll a top 9. For example (not directed at you Jaeg, obviously you know all about it), Phil Kessel wrecks people from the third line.

Brian Strait is on waivers... Capuano is begging Snow to claim him right now.

We all knew this day would come.
Waive PAP ( gets claimed )
Claim Strait ( directs fans over from the Lirr station on game nights)
Waive Seidenberg ( gets claimed)

Pap and Seidenberg are both really slow skaters.
I had PAP having a big year with JT. Yep I was mistaken.

Here's the thing though Kev, Capuano is terrible at handling kids. This is the clown who routinely will play a talentless grinder over a more talented kid. Brian F-ing Strait, Bernier, CMac, etc. Who sat? Strome, Lee, de Haan, etc.

While I'm happy they're going with the more talented players, I'm not happy that Capuano is playing them. Remember how he'll bench a kid for 1 mistake for a week, a month, or even longer?

Dual edged sword with Flintstone behind the bench.

Sure but now they are going kids over vets. And it's all learning. Yeah he sat Strome over Bernier soemtimes but Strome needs a motor, and look at him now. Preseason game 1 he has fire, makes plays and even stands up for Pelech in a fight vs Cousins. Two games later it's the motions for him in a lackluster preseason game against Wash. He doesn't get it. I will not be surprised if Barzal centers line 3 behind Nelson with Strome in the stands. Maybe with PArenteau waived Strome takes the top line RW spot but that means Strome still lost his spot and his battle in the lineup.

Gonna wait and see on this one. I think if a team wants him, he's theirs. If not, we have no report yet that Parenteau will go to the A. I don't think we know until tomorrow what the roster decision is.
