I think this was done as a favour to Petan and to potentially grease the wheels with KO more than choosing which player will eat popcorn in the pressbox.

I've always liked Petan: I hope he gets a chance in the Leafs system, but that remains to be seen.
It probably was, but we shouldn't put ourselves in situations where we have to do players favours like this. If they have talent, they should play.

Sure: as a Petan fan, I agree. It wasn't happening though, so in this case, giving him an opportunity to play elsewhere rather than sit in the pressbox was probably worth it as a gesture of goodwill.

Also: if you want to have any luck attracting FAs in the future, moves like this are mandatory.

Either that, or give them a chance on the ice.

you mean giving a player 110 games to prove himself is not enough.

Whether you're a Petan advocate or not, both sides have done it to death and there's nothing further anyone could possibly add to the conversation.

Prefer to chat more about Lindholm in this thread.

He hasn't missed a game for the Leafs, appearing in all 61. Left shooting centre, played 4th most minutes on the PK among Leaf's forwards.

Would appear he'd be immediately pencilled into the lineup. Has played more centre than wing, but I would doubt he plays centre with Hayes on the roster.
With so much opportunity, I'd expect better stats. If he makes our roster, we must be in serious injury trouble.

And Nathan Beaulieu scouting report comparables were Keith Yandle and Mike Green. What a steal by Chevy. Except a lot happens over the 5-6 from draft day. If every player became the draft day scouting report comparable there would be 31 all star teams in the NHL. Most don't come close.
Can't say it's a steal at this point. Sabre fans are giggling. I hope that you're right.

I can't say he's ever caught my attention (Lindholm) . Guessing this will be his last kick at the can in the NHL. I just hope Petan is happy, and Im guessing he is.

Nic Petan is a talented player that didn't find a fit here.

In his first couple of years, his work ethic and attitude did not endear him to the organization. They have tried for the past 2 seasons to trade him, but there was little to no interest despite his draft pedigree (offers of 5th round picks), so they decided to keep him as talented depth. They gave him a chance yesterday to move on for a fresh start. Best of luck to the player
