Goal support is a very real thing for goalies.
George has played 2.5 games. While he has been in net, Attack have scored 14 goals, or ~ 5.60 goals per game.
Votary has played 6.5 games. While he has been in net, Attack have scored 14 goals, or ~ 2.15 goals per game.
George has also been the benefactor of poor team play prior to him coming in. He entered the Barrie game part way through, low pressure down 5-1, team turned it up responding to the message of the goalie change. Team played a brutal game against Kitchener and responded with a significantly improved performance against Sarnia with George in net.

George has been great when he's played but the team has played much better in front of him. I think it's more of a reflection of the pride in the dressing room to know they sucked the night prior and playing up to their capabilities than who's in net.

The goal support makes it clear that Votary's margin for error has been very slim when he's in net as they've not given him very much help.

I think its a bit hard to be patient when he is 19 and an import is all. If he was 17 it be a much different discussion.
I think that's fair. Expectations are certainly higher for him and they need him to be better. I still think there's potential there but to your point, how long can you wait for it to come? With Sawyer out for awhile he's got an opportunity to play a bit more and show what he can do. It's up to him to show he's better than the 7th D man.

Last night's win was #700 for the Attack.

8 more = 1000 in Owen Sound Platers/Attack franchise history .

Currently now he slots in as 6 or 7.
I think that's where the coach sees his role

That's some serious BS by the Erie guy on Steen. That was borderline assault. Even on the ice kept punching him. Hopefully he's ok.

That was an ugly play. He slammed his head into the ice face first and then started punching the back of his head. I can't imagine Steen plays tomorrow as they are pretty careful with head injuries and he was wobbly going off the ice.

Uens took a skate to the face earlier in the game but came back with a full shield. The blue line is pretty battered all of a sudden with Sawyer out and Rogers at U17. Likely be short handed tomorrow afternoon.

Hoping for the best for Madden Steen.

Some notable take aways for me over the weekend were some of the very noticeable improvements in several players. I watched Saturday on tv and attended Sunday afternoon. The pair of Deni Goure and Matthew Papais is dominant. What a treat to watch. Adding Barlow on to their wing is an interesting move and hopefully they can click because that line has so much potential. Goure is really impressive to me. He's all over the puck and noticeably improved in his own zone generating take aways and not backing down from contact.

Guindon has been getting double shifted with them only having 11F dressed and he seems to be able to seamlessly adapt to who ever he is on the ice with. His vision and puck control are so good right now. He's doing a good job of utilizing his line mates and is super dangerous.

Petrovsky got the monkey off his back in a big way, picking up 4 goals over the weekend set. He's been working hard and getting chances, nice to see them start going in for him. With him picking it up you can start to see the depth of the forward group overwhelm as we had several extended shifts in the Erie end.

Brennan is really growing on me. Seeing him in person yesterday was eye opening. He showed off his puck control and his shot is sneaky good. He skates well and works hard. I think the more he plays and the more comfortable he gets he's going to become a consistent threat. I can't see him remaining as part of the rookie rotation in and out of the line up. He's earned a regular turn.

Schweingruber picked up the extra minutes on D with Steen out on Sunday and looked solid. He made some nice soft touch passes exiting the zone right on the tape yesterday that impressed me. He spent some time on the PK as well and didn't look out of place. Hopefully something for him to build off of.

I kind of find it funny, and maybe thats just wwhat fans do regardless of what level the team is, but we've spend so much time talking about what goalie is good, what goalie is struggling, yet we have barely mentioned how well some of these guys are playing.

They way that guys like Cedric Guindon is playing, Deni Goure outplaying almost every other 03 in the league right now, how well Papais has fared, even Nolan Seed who I still have some questions about, is playing quite well.

I figured we would be a very good team, but they are right there as the best team in the West right now, its great to see and exiting for not only this year, but next year as well.

Well that was about as textbook of a week the team could have.

6 out of a possible 8 points on the weeek and a sweep of the Otters doubleheader at home, which is hard to argue that. Nice to see SP finally start to get his stick active and sink some of those chances the hasty was just the icing on the cake.

Good to see both Vots, and George get Ws over the weekend too they both had very good games in the back to back with the Otters in Ricky's absence.

Now the boys set there eyes on 2 eastern conference opponents next week in Gennies and Troops. With limited viewing of North Bay last season to just the pre-season and Oshawa we didn't see at all this will be a week where video will be key.

The bonus is that coac Wally will be back behind the bench and hopefully they can just continue this good mojo forward.

I to have been impressed with Brennan a solid player who is showing he can put the puck in the net given the right situation. Goures defensive play this season is lights out compared to last season. I love the pk combos of Colby,Ceddy and Deni and Matt 2 very dangerous threats on the ice. It was great to see the boys put some pucks in the net in support of Corbin yesterday. By my calculations we are 7-3 in the last 10 and 5-3 in the first 8 games of the season both pretty respectable #'s. Also a round of applause for Dale and the scouting staff. On top of the team we see on the ice we have 3 former prospects and a former roster d man all playing in the league now with various teams.

Some interesting tweaks were made on the PP that I picked up on over the weekend. They are still working the ladder entry but have three players in motion coming up ice with two players on the flanks at the blue line. The puck carrier crosses with the other players in motion which gives them options to move the puck to. Once they enter the zone the flanks are open to dump off the puck if needed. This has resulted in more consistent entries and maintaining puck possession. As an added effect, the movement coming up ice has created some confusion with the PK group and led to Petrovsky's PP goal on Saturday. They nearly sent Barlow in alone in a similar play. The PP is starting to look very dangerous all of a sudden. The two PP units are both very skilled as well.

The PK is noticeably more aggressive in the offensive and neutral zones chasing the puck carrier to the stacked blue line. This is helping squeeze the puck carrier on zone entries for a turn over or the puck carrier is forced to chip it in. This has created a bit of chaos leading to some short handed scoring opportunities which they have managed to capitalize on. This is one of the benefits from having dangerous offensive players able to take on PK responsibilities.

It's nice to see some adjustments that are working in a positive manner.

Hello all. I'd appreciate a little info on tickets.

I'll be doing an OHL trip this weekend and I'll be at your arena on Saturday. The website for tickets and I aren't cooperating very well. LOL. It's no big deal if the game isn't going to be a sellout-I'll just buy a ticket at the arena on Saturday.

Is there any chance that the game will sell out? Thanks in advance for your help!

The website will allow you to move around the seating map and select the seats you would like to watch the game from. You select how many seats you are looking for and any section, then go into the seating map and select the seats you want, then click the button "Change to Newly Selected Seats". The seats with a person in them are taken. You can select any of the seats with a grey square. Hopefully this helps.

You can also call the box office. 519.371.7452

Failing all of that , I'm sure you can secure a seat , in person, at the box office.
