Absolute joke tonight...I may get ripped for this but if you have #32 in net this game, we win. I am not just saying that because of last week, I have been watching him since training camp and he has skills. May well be the best we have had in awhile and on the level of a Binner or McNiv. The way he holds his pads ALWAYS on the ice and his positioning is unreal. All of those goals tonight were preventable. We could have won that game handily with #32 behind the skaters.

It all starts in net. The confidence level the team has is clearly on display when different tenders are on the ice. Totally deflates the boys when a suspect goal trickles in or half the net is left open and someone only has to tap it in.

Sadly, we will see the last of #32 when #31 is back. Here is a thought, why not have Chenard mentor George this year when we have Nick still here to guide him. If management thinks Votary is a #1 goalie for us next year, say goodbye to any hope of capitalizing on our stacked set of forwards. This is the year to make things happen and then I have full faith in George transitioning smoothly to #1.

We have a special team but there are a few minor adjustments to be made in my opinion.

What an embarrassing effort tonight in front of a sold out crowd, lone game this week and the boys laid an egg.. it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see #9 and #34 get traded for upgrades. Need to see a lot more from #18 also
I have been saying it loud and clear on here for awhile. The love affair this coaching staff has with #9 is unbelievable. His skating is atrocious and they continue to play him like he is Brandt Clarke, Jack Thompson, Nathan Staios. etc.... I dont get it. Watch the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They only dressed 6 D tonight and barely played #10 at all. # 9 and #6 both played 30 mins or more I would guess. They are 4th and 5th year players. Look at their stats. They are not elite as their ice time would suggest. People on here saying we need to upgrade the D with trades? I think the coaches need to figure out who the best D are. How is the pp working out? Oh we are #19 out of 20. What a joke. I would be giving #22 or even #2 a chance on pp when he is back over #9 or #6. Its a few years of not working now! At least try something different. OMG I really hope DD sees what we the fans see and gets on this staff.

The nice thing about these sites is the variety of opinions....some great reads and some that are away over the top and good for a belly laugh..lol...kinda starting to remind me of the Ranger and Knights boards

Funny how they only come out after a loss... and OHL Prophet finds a guy or two to rag on no matter what happens.

Folks there's some law in the universe that states we can only beat London so many times in a season. Everything is fine.

Let's not over react to one game. This team is still 9-5. It's not time to blow it up.

You don't win games in this league scoring 1 goal, regardless of who your goalie is. Demoting Votary does this team zero favors. Chenard graduates at the end of the season and Votary needs to be a part of this team next season. You don't help yourself by tearing him a part. George will play. Next season you let Votary and George determine who plays the starter's role with their play on the ice.

If the team follows the script this season, Votary will start Tuesday against Kitchener, George Wednesday against Sarnia. Votary will get Erie on Saturday and George gets the Sunday contest. Chenard is still a week or two away.

Personally, I don't love stapling Schweingruber to the bench for significant portions of the game when you're dressing 6 D. With Sawyer out until Christmas time they need to get him involved. Play him and work through the growing pains. You've got 4 games with 6 D to see what you have before Rogers is back from U17s.

No need to panic right now after last weekend.

Last weekend wasn't the best game, but it certainly wasn't are worst either. Take away the fact that we were missing bodies in the lineup for different reasons and the game really wasn't as bad a score showed.

We were missing 2 pretty key players in Nick and Teddy that you just can't replace that experience in your lineup with 1st and 2nd year guys. Not also add into the simple point that missing coach Wally was a big motivational loss to the Bench staff, yes Jordan and Teakle have their work cut out for them while Wally is away and they are both good coaches but you can't replace that experience that Coach Wally brings to this team.

Last but not least we played 1 game where the Knights were on there 2nd game in as many days, that's hard for guys to do especially when their rhythm wasn't there and after the Knights had already played one game before they got to the Bayshore while our guys were stone-cold from not playing all week. That's a big ask for kids to go from 0 to 100% effort in 1 game.

Now we turn are attention to the coming week with a 4 in 6 week including 3 games at home. Let's see how this week shakes out when the team has a chance to get into a rhythm and play more then just 1 game in a week.

PensFan101 I to find it funny. I remember many years ago when I used to ride the roller coaster of being a Jr hockey fan. Then I took time to study the game and talk to people with knowledge of the game GM's Coaches scouts and also learned to look at the game from a more neutral position. It's amazing how good the game is when you drop the homerism. A friend and I just discussed #9 yesterday and in both our opinions he is right now in the mix as an MVP candidate. As far as riding Carter George he is a 16 yr old that can't and won't happen. Is he 1 hell of a goalie sure is but it's about developing confidence not throwing him in a fire pit. Votary is also a very good goalie and it is his crease while Chenard is out. Right now we are in a logjam at the top of the standings and we have the second best winning %. As far as icetime there are many factors that determine that many of which we fans will never know and honestly have no right to know.

I’d rather play George over Nick right now, why not ride the hot goalie.. and for whatever reason the team has played better with George in net. I’m not hitting the panic button because Owen Sound always stinks against London on a packed Saturday night at the Bayshore. But if you have a good thing going with George why go against it?? It just makes no sense to me, and if they keep Sedley I’d rather see him play forward than D.

Let's not forget how much Gavin Bryant means to this team as well. He's the guy that can sometimes lift the energy level with one shift in a game like Saturday.

George is going to be a stud goaltender but agree with how they are handling the goaltending duties right now. Goalies are fragile. You need to bring them along slowly.

Yes I ranted Saturday night late after the game, but I stick to my opinions, especially after watching the highlights. Your killing me here "Stevey." We usually have a lot of similar opinions, but MVP candidate?????

Following the conclusion of all weekend games. The powerplay is now dead last in the league. #20 at 14.8 percent. Gave up a shorty and Barkey just missed another shorty. Go to the OHL Scores sight and watch the game summary and particularly the play that lead to Barkey's shorthanded chance.

I feel like they are missing Stepan Machacek this season. He seemed to be able to recognize when the team was flat and go out on a high energy shift, bang some bodies and stir it up a bit, pulling the team into the game. I'm not sure they have that player on the roster this season.

The PP is an enigma at this point. The zone entries are tough to watch and then once they gain the zone I feel they become too static with the puck and result in settling for a shot from the outside. There's too much skill on this roster to be operating at the conversion rate they have now.

I agree with the "drop the homerism" remark, but if you are truly standing by that notion, you should not be including Sedley and MVP in any sentence together. I like his skill and I will give him credit, he has improved on his seemingly nightly gaffes and is the man that runs the play usually, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Also, I am pretty sure I have watched as much or more hockey (live) than yourself and I can say without question, Votary is NOT a "very good goalie". He also has shown massive improvement this season but is an average OHL goalie at best. Put it this way, do you feel comfortable with a three goal lead when he is in net? Personally, I do not. I actually hold my breath watching him at times. Meanwhile, when someone like Chenard or George are in net, I feel the team and again me personally (watching), don't have to be worrying about letting in one or two because they know when it matters the goalie will come through with that key save or two. Its all about confidence, especially in junior hockey with boys this age.

Let's take at least six of eight points this week and get back to it!

Be well...

goalies are never any good in the ohl until they are 19, there will be 2/3 outliers, but its an older league for a reason.

I'm not sure if we are misunderstanding each other but with your Sedley and homerism comment I'm not saying he's a league MVP but I stand by he is in the mix of players to be considered for Attack MVP. As for Votary if your comparing with all OHL goalies I can't disagree but without looking up stats if you compare with goalies with 25-30 appearances I think he's pretty decent. I was actually talking with a friend yesterday and we both feel with the experience George is getting right now he very likely could claim the starting position as his next season. I will agree let's take six of eight this week. I do enjoy reading your posts and you are a poster that I mostly agree with what you have to say and even when I don't agree totally I can see the points you make.

As a former goalie, I'll preface to say I never played above Midget AA, I'll offer my perspective on the three goalies on the roster:

Chenard - High floor, Low ceiling. Chenard is very good positionally and takes advantage of his size to get in front of pucks. I find at times he struggles to track pucks and can be late to react but is very good at stopping first shot opportunities with above average rebound control. He lacks the athleticism in his lateral movement and can be exposed with quick passes or wrap around attempts. He compensates by playing deeper in his net to limit the range of movement required to get to pucks. He's very calm in the net and rarely gets caught out of position. Puck handling is not a strong suit in his game. He's a very solid OHL goalie.

Votary - High Ceiling, Low Floor. Votary has elite athleticism but can be both a strength and a weakness for him. He's very quick and has the ability to get to shots that most can't. He has a tendency to get overly aggressive attacking pucks instead letting them come to him which can pull him out of position. He has greatly improved in this aspect from last season but remains a work in progress. He's another large goalie at 6'3" which he uses adequately to get in front of pucks. I think he tends to make himself small in his stance at times in an effort to close the gaps around the arms and five hole but can leave portions of the net more exposed for good shooters to target. His rebound control needs to continue to improve, which is where older goalies typically do better at with the experience, as he can at time leave pucks in front of the net that lead to scramble plays. He at times loses pucks within those scrambles and results in the swim move in front of the crease which leaves him in a poor spot to react. Corbin is a good puck handler. I still think there's a lot of potential with Votary due to the athleticism he possesses.

George - High Ceiling, High Floor. We have a very small sample to look at he's only played about 5 periods of OHL hockey so this is definitely subject to change. George shows a very high end skill set as a goalie. From what I've seen he has high level athleticism and tracks pucks extremely well. While not the biggest goalie I feel he does a good job of playing big as he stands a little more upright in his stance taking away more of the net and putting him in a better stance to move side to side. His rebound control(again, small sample size) has looked advanced for his age as he puts pucks to good places. He does a good job staying up right after the initial shot to be in better position for second or third chance opportunities. He's a very good puck handler. He's shown to be a confident player and it will be interesting to see how he reacts on a night when it's not going well. He's been up to the challenge so far but like all goalies he'll have a night eventually when the pucks go in behind him. Definitely like what we've seen from him so far.

Very good assessment of all 3 tenders. Certainly can't add anything to that or disagree with it. Very solid assessment.

Bullcrap offside call.

Right back with a shortie that counts!:hockey:
That was a horrendous call no way it was off side not sure what they were looking at but the replay easily shows his foot staying on the line until the puck has crossed. Total game changer. The goal right after was a nice bounce back but then giving up the one seconds later didnt help
