The team had a good weekend.

Outscoring your 3 opponents 15-8 with a shootout win in there to start the weekend.

I'm sure there with areas of the weekend that the team would like to work on and there were areas that the team was happy about. Good to see George pick up his first career W in the league today, I'm sure he's happy to get those jitters off his back early on especially with Chenard not available for today game.

This team continues to impress me early on and hopefully they can get some much needed rest and reset before next week when they meet the Knights.

I thought the team played a little tighter in front of Votary last night. #10 in particular played a more solid game. He started off great but had been slipping lately. Hopefully his time sitting in the middle of the bench has woken him up. I didn't see much difference in Votary's game except for the help he got.
It has certainly been a tough stretch of games for Schweingruber but I thought he was solid against Guelph and was a stand out against Kingston. In the Kingston game he made a number of skill plays with some nice stretch passes tape to tape. Hopefully he can build off that as he had been trending in the wrong direction.

Fantino finally gets the monkey off his back with a couple of nice goals. Would be nice to get a little more consistent production from him as he certainly has the talent.

Goaltending is looking to be a strong suit for this team for years to come. I really like the strides Votary has made to quiet his game down to be in better positions. His puck handling is an asset as well. George looks like a stud. His lateral quickness was very impressive and rebound control seemed to be advanced for his age. Another good puck handler which I feel is a bit of an underrated quality with goalies. Certainly makes the Dman's job a little easier in certain situations.

Are you saying he is defying the coach and staying on to long?? Or is this what the coach wants?
I'm not claiming to know why it's happening, just really feel it shouldn't be. Powerplay is 0-4 in a 4-1 game and we get two pps in the last 5 mins of the game. Again the coaches threw a few different players out there for some experience, including the two rookie forwards but 9 stayed out out for the entire pps back to back. He almost played 5 of the last 6 minutes between his fwd shift and then both pps. From my view point it looked as though both Seed and Uens were standing ready to go at points of those last two pps but 9 just kept circling far away from the bench staying out.

I also won't claim to to know why but all I do know if Greg Walters is upset you will hear him loud and clear. I didn't hear him so I would have to guess it's the game plan. I have read and heard at the rink from a few people about #9's downfalls but what I see is a young man who when playing d is if not top pair top 4 and when playing forward is a top faceoff guy and a real good forward. He can move between the 2 positions
at will with no let down. If you talk to him his hockey sense is thru the roof. I'm pretty sure if he was disobeying G.W his ass would be planted on the bench.

Schweingruber had 2 very good games which is great to see.

Sam Sedley is like the team's Swiss Army knife ( no disrespect to LS)

I saw him at times on the weekend transition to D , while playing forward, and helping out when the team got hemmed in .

I guess he was really a forward taking care of the defensive side of his game .

What can't Sam do ?
Maybe strap on the goalie pads ? 😀

It's nice to have a guy like him who can spot anywhere in the lineup as required, AND do an admirable job .

Carter George picked up his second win. Tied with Corbin.
Good for him. He looks like he belongs in the O.

Heck of a debut week for George ends with Goalie of the week honors.

I feel kinda bad for Carter an awesome start but I'm pretty sure they stick with the original plan and he goes back to St Mary's which is I think the best for him. Hopefully the staff in St Marys was watching and see what they have. Maybe he gets a shot to be the go to guy there.

It's not the last we'll see of Carter this year. He's been practicing with the Attack once or twice a week and I would expect they'll get him around the team throughout the year whenever possible. It's a long season and injuries/illness happen. The team should stick to the plan with Chenard/Votary but I think George will get more opportunities throughout the year.

Sounds like Chenard's injury is fairly minor but having a solid, capable third string goalie like Carter means they don't need to rush him back.

CG is a good goalie and will be key piece in 2023-24 once NC ages out at the end of the season.

From what I've seen on a small sample size he looks good. When NC comes back to the line-up I would imagine that CG will be sent back down to St. Mary's for this season and then come back for 2023-24 to play backup to CV next season. At the end of the day anytime you get tending depth in the crease is a good problem to have as the team can have a variety of looks in the crease.

The future is bright in the blue-paint.

Just looking for some general discussion. What do you feel the trade deadline strategy should be this year for the Attack? The team looks like a solid contender this season but most would say next season is their year. I have to imagine Dale will be looking to improve at the deadline so I'm thinking within the typical mold of avoiding the big fish so to speak. Adding a bottom six forward and an upgrade on D would make sense in my opinion.

You have forwards Burroughs, Goure and Lawrence along with defensemen Sedley and Sawyer projected to be OA candidates next season. Do you add a 19 year old with the understanding that it's a one year add? Do you think you can bring them in and then move them out in the off season to recoup some of the costs?

It may cost a little more but would it not make more sense to explore potential '04s that can play this year and next season without adding to the glut of potential OA candidates? Does this clog up the roster for next season with players like Cormier, Tersigni and Rogers looking for more opportunity and guys like Langdon and Letourneau potential options to crack the roster plus whatever the '07 draft class brings in? There's not a lot of natural roster turn over heading towards next season with so many players eligible to return.

Obviously it will be awhile before teams start making moves and maybe some one can step up and naturally fill a roll that changes the plans between now and then. It would be nice to get a full forward group healthy and available to get a look at what we truly have before trying to tinker. What can all of 6'2" and 211lbs Bonaiuto bring to the line up? Can Brennan work his way to becoming a regular on the third line? Can one of Rogers/Schweingruber/Jordan solidify the bottom D pair?

I think the real question will be IF the team needs to tweak the lineup with what they already have.

Could they add a piece to the lineup well I think there's a lot of teams that are in the same situation around the OHL this season that could and maybe they do when the time comes but until/when that time the decisions need to be made I don't think will see any big movement by the team for now.

They have this year and next year to make a couple serious runs at it, typically Degray isn’t a guy who tries to make a big splash bringing players into town. I’d love to see them get a solid shut down D man or an elite sniper, voit from Sarnia would be a player I’d like to get

That's exactly my thoughts. I feel any move needs to be balanced with how it impacts next year's team. It's clearly a very good two year window to chase a title and I think they need to take advantage of it. Voit would be a great add but I don't see Sarnia as sellers at this point.

Kind of taking a glance at the standings and seeing the bottom of the west is London, Kitchener and Guelph it doesn't look like any help would be coming with them as trade partners. I still would expect Kitchener to right the ship and move up in the standings. In the East I could see Niagara and Hamilton as potential trade partners.

I think a balance of cost/fit along the lines of a typical Attack trade might be a Zito from Niagara and maybe a Donovan from Hamilton. Both good players but wouldn't consider them to be top end. I think an '04 like Donovan on the back end could make sense as one of Sedley/Sawyer is likely gone next season along with Seed and Schweingruber so a two year fit may make more sense. A player like Donavan would help with bridging the gap in experience on the back end next year with some of your top 4 D graduating/leaving. Don't know if Hamilton sells how far they want to strip it down but that would be a player I'd have my eye on.

I think the real question will be IF the team needs to tweak the lineup with what they already have.

The team is clearly set in net. The forward group is pretty deep when healthy but health has been a bit of a concern so far. A depth forward would be a bit of an insurance add.

I think there's definitely room for improvement on D. It would be great if that happens internally, and there's definitely time for that to happen, but I would argue that's the one clear weakness right now.

I would love Voit but thats a bigger splash than Dale usually makes. I would #1 like a solid shutdown D man I said before the season we needed one and while our d is doing good I still feel that is a need. Sawyer has been a great add. Adepth fwd might also be a good add. Have to be careful not to disrupt chemistry though

It would be nice if we saw a full healthy lineup for a while.

You forgot Teddy Sawyer next season as a potential OA.

Agreed on the health front. Would be nice to piece together a string of games with a full roster to get a fair look at what you have.

Going to be some tough decisions made on the OA situation next season. If they don't add a D for next year I could see a scenario in which they go 1 F OA and 2 D OAs. I still think it will be 2 F OAs and 1 D OA but very good options to consider.

What an embarrassing effort tonight in front of a sold out crowd, lone game this week and the boys laid an egg.. it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to see #9 and #34 get traded for upgrades. Need to see a lot more from #18 also
