I totally agree and thats what I meant with the price comment. I don't even this far into the season see having to pay big for my d man if Dale can find the right guys.
Might be a little too expensive, but if Barrie keeps sliding and decides to sell someone like Hunter Haight would be worth trying to pry away. Not off to the best start but certainly has high end upside.

Great move for this year and beyond....I would bet that there will be at least one more move before deadline, one of which will include our dmen....

I think Schweingruber is not long for the team. Some may think that he has upside, and they may be right, but I do not see it.

This is a bit of a head scratcher for me. That's actually a lot of picks for that player IMO and have to ask why would Flint be giving up on an 05 player? I would also like to see them split up Sedley and Seed but can't see them pairing lefties and righties together as your scenario suggests Stellar. Also, there is no way Petrovski automatically steps into top 2 pairing. He is not necessarily an upgrade to the current D. This has to be more about long term as we will likely lose three left D next year. Also don't like that this means another D will be scratched each night if/when all are healthy unless further deals are in the works. Now have 9 D rostered. If they were all healthy right now I would say this is how things should look;

Seed Sedley
Sawyer Uens
Petrovski Steen

Jordan Rogers
Schweingruber

Some thoughts/opinions and that's all they are... I don't feel Schweingruber is getting a fair shake for whatever reason and unfortunately feel that he and Rogers will often be the odd men out with this many D and don't like that for Roger's development. In the above scenario I could see them trying Petrovski and Steen as the "shut down" pair that people have been hollering for. Although I personally feel that Uens has been our most consistent D man in our own end this year. I feel most confident when he has the puck on his stick in our own end, so maybe pairing him with Petrovski on the third pairing would work.

Depth is a good thing but I really feel for kids when they are scratched. I get that it has to happen though and part of the OHL game. Again I feel this was more of a deal for next year as Seed, Sawyer, and Schweingruber are all likely gone next year. This was definitely not a "go for it this year deal" so either more deals are in the work or the focus will be to go all in next year. If that's the case I would not be opposed to moving Seed or Sedley if there are offers.

And lastly. If in fact DD feels we can go for it with this current roster, I would say the number one priority should be adding a tough guy. Too many teams taking liberties on our top fwds with nothing being done about it.

Safe travels to the team today!
Could this be a move that possibly maybe puts Sedley more often on Forward because he is actually quite good in either position and probably better then some of our 4th line options. He then when needed at certain points in the game could bounce back to the the D end of things maybe for the PPs or what not . Just kinda trying to come up with reasons why we might run with 9 d or if sawyer is out even more long term then thought. The deal does make sense long term he is a promising looking dman with good size, played good in the playoffs he has 18 games playoff experience but for the current lineup it doesn't totally make sense

That's fair criticism in my opinion. The players will ultimately determine how many minutes they get based on performance. It may seem like a lot to expect Petrovski to jump into the top 4 but I think he's capable. I really liked him in the Flint Owen Sound series in the post season. Uens is a favorite of mine. He's tough as nails and I think he's shown a lot of growth in his game this year. He's done a nice job on the PK.

I'm not sure there's a lot of "tough guy" types in the league that are decent players. I can understand wanting someone with some bite in their game but I want them to be able to contribute on a regular shift. If they can find that I'd jump at it.

Sawyer is out until the Christmas Break and Steen may be a week away. I think 8 is fine, Rogers has played way more then I thought he would and Jordan can be a 7 if need be. Injuries will happen, as we have seen this year.

If we're being brutally honest, with a fully healthy D core he's probably the 8th or arguably even the 9th guy now. Question is, do you try to upgrade the import slot? Or straight release him?

Rogers still hasn't turned 16 years old yet. He needs to add weight. I think patience with him is warranted. Really like his skill set but he's not in a place to take a regular turn on D yet. The time in practice and the weight room will be beneficial for him and he should be ready to take off next season.

100 percent, to be honest he's probably played more then they could have even anticiaoted this year. He could probabably play 1 ind 3 games and not be all that hurt by it.

I could definetly see them upgrading the Import, but Im not sure if you do it right away and if Luc is an 8, which he probably is, its probably the right thing to do to send him home once Madden Steen is clearned to play.

Good points and I actually love Noofgoofs suggestion about the move allowing Sedley to play up front more. I honestly feel he is more valuable to the team as a forward. Especially because you can't take three minute shifts or play tired when on fwd. He has great skills as a forward and adds even more scoring depth up front.

Maybe even 3 years. I hope James rips it up in OS. Sucks to see him go but he landed in a great spot and Flint needed the picks and to clear a little space on the blueline. He gained a lot of experience last season and has added a little more offensive confidence to his game this year.
Looking forward to seeing him in the Bears uniform .

I think he will love OS. It's a small town , hockey -centric community.

And his folks are an easy drive up hwy 10 to watch him play every Saturday night.

Welcome to the Bayshore, James !

I know we've beat the Isaac Howard thing to death but he's got a goal and assist for 2 points through 10 games played so far in the NCAA for whatever that's worth.

Wonder if we could trade his rights to recoop some picks for next seasons run..

As unlikely as it is to happen, I think best case is if he comes to the OHL he joins the Attack. As an 04 he could impact this season and next which perfectly aligns with the team's window of contention. It would be tough to trade his rights and then have him actually report to the OHL.

Our draft picks are pretty slim now after that trade. 3 seconds over the next 6 years none for this year or next. So acquiring a player now might have to send a quality player back the other way. Would you consider trading Chenard and ride out the rest of the year with George and Votary? Probably get a decent return for Chenard.

I dont really know if picks mattter, look at a guy like Brennan in the 9th, Chenard was a 6th, Sedley a 4th, Uens a 3rd. They seem to get players from all over the draft luckly.

Plus, how many holes are ther going to be next year really?

I think the have one additional 2nd this year, Dale mentinoed hey had 2 2nd at the town hall.

Do you guys expect Goure back next year, or do you think he signs a pro contract and is gone?

I think you just pointed out the key point. There isn't a lot of projected turn over on the roster for next year. Draft picks aren't as critical the way the team is structured. Still have some guys like Langdon and Letourneau that are pretty good prospects who may join at 17 which likely fits better with the team next season.

If he continues playing like he is I would think he will be offered a contract
I think it'll play out that he puts up a big 19 year old season, get drafted, returns for his OA season in the OHL. I think he'll be back and be a big piece in what will hopefully be a lengthy playoff run.

Not to us, but to Dale it does.

He is looking beyond November.

Why not just sign him for ourselves if he's coming to the CHL :)?
The price is likely very high.
