Finally someone who makes sense.
I think you just pointed out the key point. There isn't a lot of projected turn over on the roster for next year. Draft picks aren't as critical the way the team is structured. Still have some guys like Langdon and Letourneau that are pretty good prospects who may join at 17 which likely fits better with the team next season.
But you need draft picks to make trades??? If they are planning on loading up for the next two years guys like Rogers and Cormier but expendable then.. usually teams who decide to go for it will acquire that player that will put them over the top.

Not to us, but to Dale it does.

He is looking beyond November.

The price is likely very high.
If he comes its probably with a pro-contact, or a contact will be coming. I think the risk is worth it, most 1st round NHL picks get an NHL contact eventually.

Looking at the roster next year, how many trades do you realistically think they need to make?

You will add an import to this group as well

Forward
Petrovsky - Goure - Barlow
Brennan - Guindon - Lawrence
Chafe - Bryant - Fantino
Tersigni - Cormier
Bonaiuto (If healthy)

Plus a player or two like Langdon or Leterneau, plus an 07

Defence
Sedley - Steen
Petrovsky - Uens
Jordan - Rogers
Plus an 06/07

Corbin Votary
Carter George

You'll be able to trade Ethan Burroughs and Teddy Sawyer, lets just say for a 2nd, 3rd and 3rd to be conservative.

This group is basically the same group as now that is 12-6, but they will be all a year older and better, plus hopefully a more impact import.

Do you anticipate alot of high end trades? I dont see it. If you want one big swing, you have an 07 and 4/5 picks to do it.

100 percent, to be honest he's probably played more then they could have even anticiaoted this year. He could probabably play 1 ind 3 games and not be all that hurt by it.

I could definetly see them upgrading the Import, but Im not sure if you do it right away and if Luc is an 8, which he probably is, its probably the right thing to do to send him home once Madden Steen is clearned to

If he comes its probably with a pro-contact, or a contact will be coming. I think the risk is worth it, most 1st round NHL picks get an NHL contact eventually.
If you asked Digger, he'd say something like, 'absolutely, if the Howard boy wants to come, we will make room for him'.

I'd almost bet that they keep in regular contact with him/his agent.

The Attack isn't shy about taking these high end picks. (see Moritz Seider).

Enticing them to report is a challenge.

Second line left wing could be an upgrade, chafes spot could be upgraded. I’m not expecting lots of trades but maybe one or two upgrade the top 9. If you are planning on going for it all you try and get that player that will put you over top of everyone else. And I’m not sold on votary being a starter next year.

Oh i agree, enticing them to report 100 percent is very very low, but I don't see them just handing him off to another team just for the hell of it.

If Brennan continues to be almost a point a game, I don't think you really need to worry about second line left wing. Even if you do, you have the import draft. And if you have the import draft, Brennan replaces Chafe, who then probably is moved for more picks.

The one thing you can say about this team now and in the future, they have significant depth.

You also were not sold on Guzda, Chenard, probably McNiven, maybe Binnington, perhaps Storr ;)

It's a strong foundation returning next season, no doubt. Could see a top 6 forward possibly being brought in. Have to see what the import draft brings and what kind of growth players like Cormier, Tersigni and Brennan show throughout the rest of this season. D looks fairly solid and I think the goaltending will be an internal battle between Votary and George. Most of your key PP and PK pieces are returning as well. I wouldn't expect a whole lot of tinkering being required.

Well maybe not the prettiest win we've had this season, but sometimes you need a lunchbox type one goal game win every so often. And tonight was that night.

The boys may not have started off on the right foot against the Gennies but to find a way to dig themselves out of a (0-1) deficit and claw our way to a (3-2 W) is just the type of gmae you need to be able to play in the post-season come spring time.

Now on to the next one against the though Battalion squad.

If I'm OS I'm looking to trade Cormier for Kyrou. The OS forward group is legit but man did the D struggle to transition the puck tonight. Cormier didn't look very comfortable out there. I'm sure he'll get better but seems like a trade that would make sense for OS

I think we should use the set play that got Barlow's winning goal as our PP entry. PP dead last in the league. Who's the coach responsible for this mess. Can we get Keith to make a sign "Ban the Ladder" for tonights game.

Cormier is a 16 yr old forward who's played 8 OHL games.
He will be fine .

The blue line is missing 2 veterans, and added Petrovski to the blueline yesterday.

He joined the team just before gametime and won't practice with them until Monday .

Not one of their better performances, but they still managed to win and only surrendered 2 goals.

Mike:
If you get a chance drop down to practice some afternoon.

They spend a lot of time on special teams .

It's a work in progress. That's the fun in watching the team develop from year to year .

Ya don’t bother Gens updates people on this teams thread don’t like trading young guys for better players to try and win a championship..

Don’t know a ton about Steen but Sawyer is a really reliable defensive Dman but isn’t a great puck mover. Steen’s point totals would suggest he’s similar. If OS wants to make a run this year, which they could, that’s the big area to do it imo

Mike Futa once told a buddy of mine if he made any trades my buddy suggested he would get beat up by the rest of the G.M's. If Kyrou were available he would command more than Cormier right now. If you can pull some strings and make that happen I'm sure D.D might be interested though.

This is a bit of a head scratcher for me. That's actually a lot of picks for that player IMO and have to ask why would Flint be giving up on an 05 player? I would also like to see them split up Sedley and Seed but can't see them pairing lefties and righties together as your scenario suggests Stellar. Also, there is no way Petrovski automatically steps into top 2 pairing. He is not necessarily an upgrade to the current D. This has to be more about long term as we will likely lose three left D next year. Also don't like that this means another D will be scratched each night if/when all are healthy unless further deals are in the works. Now have 9 D rostered. If they were all healthy right now I would say this is how things should look;

Seed Sedley
Sawyer Uens
Petrovski Steen

Jordan Rogers
Schweingruber

Some thoughts/opinions and that's all they are... I don't feel Schweingruber is getting a fair shake for whatever reason and unfortunately feel that he and Rogers will often be the odd men out with this many D and don't like that for Roger's development. In the above scenario I could see them trying Petrovski and Steen as the "shut down" pair that people have been hollering for. Although I personally feel that Uens has been our most consistent D man in our own end this year. I feel most confident when he has the puck on his stick in our own end, so maybe pairing him with Petrovski on the third pairing would work.

Depth is a good thing but I really feel for kids when they are scratched. I get that it has to happen though and part of the OHL game. Again I feel this was more of a deal for next year as Seed, Sawyer, and Schweingruber are all likely gone next year. This was definitely not a "go for it this year deal" so either more deals are in the work or the focus will be to go all in next year. If that's the case I would not be opposed to moving Seed or Sedley if there are offers.

And lastly. If in fact DD feels we can go for it with this current roster, I would say the number one priority should be adding a tough guy. Too many teams taking liberties on our top fwds with nothing being done about it.

Safe travels to the team today!
I don't feel it was to much for Petrovski yes it was enough but I would rather pay a little more for a 17 yr old who should be a stud for a couple years. He was expendable because Flint got Guriev in the Othman deal and they may want the assets to try and replace Othman at forward.

I think Cormier+picks could definitely get you Kyrou. Some of the good teams (SAR with Martone, WSR with Cristoforo, etc) seem unwilling to move their 06 so if OS did offer that, they’d at least be in the top 2/3 teams in the running for him

Rough game against North Bay. Didn't play a particularly good opening 20 minutes but finished the game playing better. Still need to figure out how to play a full 60 minutes with regularity.

Schweingruber played his best hockey of the season over the weekend. Earned a regular shift and made the most out of it. Hopefully some positive momentum for him.

North Bay first goal terrible
Second goal absolutely terrible
3 goal bad d
4th goal bad bounce
5th goal it’s like watching a turtle move side to side.

Team played like ass but at some point you need your OA goalie to make some saves. That game should’ve been 3-3.
