I'm not even sure why the Sharks needs to be punished for anything. They made a great trade to get Jumbo Joe and then dominated the league for a long while. Then Jumbo Joe and Marleau got too old and they tried to remain competitive with Meier and Hertl and acquired EK and it did not work. They were at a point where it was time to move on and start from scratch.
They're putting the most embarrasing product on the ice since the golden seals. That's enough for any serious hockey fan to wish pain on them.

Why would a hockey fan wish pain on hockey players? A NHL fan or a NHL team fan sure but a hockey fan??? I'm sorry but i played amateur hockey long enough to not wish anything bad to a guy playing this sports unless he is a dirty player.

I was actually mocking “punishing” the Hawks based off the latest news about them.
That said, this is pretty embarrassing from the Sharks. I know they suck but they’re not even competing.

The Leafs, Oilers, and Sens seem to be in a state of turmoil. The Sens are relatively young and get a pass from me but the Leafs and Oilers should be so much better. How would we feel about the Habs if we had that level of talent and were that bad?

The drafts are not rigged and you don't use evidence to affirm something that did not happen or can't happen....it is the other way around. There is zero evidence that the draft is rigged, by claiming the same for the assertion that it could be rigged does not make them equally viable propositions.
You are on the wrong side of the Flying Spaghetti Monster analogy with the end of your first sentence but to your credit you do at least acknowledge that tanking is very unlikely.
I agree that you can't get rid of tanking but you can make the reward for doing so less attractive and I personally love watching tanking teams losing out in the lottery. The NHL should adopt the NBA's lottery where the bottom three teams all have the same odds and the 1 OA seeded team can drop all the way to the 5th pick

For fun, the record at the same date last year vs today:
Oilers: 7-4-0 vs 2-7-1
Leafs: 5-4-2 vs 5-4-2
Sens: 4-6-0 vs 4-6-0
Habs: 5-5-1 vs 5-4-2
Only the Oilers are outlier so far, and if I was an Oil fan, I think I would still be fully aware that my team is trash tier without McDavid pumping out ±2 PPG over the rest of the season.
