Well you know, they don't need Newhook though as they got two guys who are better fits to replace him in Tatar and Drouin.

Their scouting has been generally very good, but they have a few 1st round duds too

2021- Tyler Boucher (10th overall)-
2019- Lassi Thompson (19th overall)
2018- Jacob Bernard Docker (26th overall)
2017- Shane Bowers (28th overall)
2016- Logan Brown (11th overall)

They are money with their high draft picks though

Brady Tkachuk
Tim Stutzle
Jake Sanderson

They also absolutely killed that 2020 draft.

They aren't perfect, but it would be a nice upgrade to ours. Would be nice to have some confidence to hit on a top 5 pick for the first time since Carey Price.

They hit on Tkachuk, Stutzle and Sanderson but they were all picked inside the top 5.

Their record otherwise isn't very good.

And to think there were people here that wanted to resign Tatar to a 4 year 4 million per year contract

As for Drouin, he simply is/was not physically or mentally strong enough for the NHL grind - simple as that

Drouin is just getting close to the NHL retirement (the average retire at ~29 years old).

He oversaw like two of our worst drafts ever and the drafts under him sucked except one where he had 2 top 5 picks.

Ya the Sens should get scolded for hitting on their top 5 picks, something the Habs haven't done since 2005.

Not to mention that Greig, Pinto, Formenton, and Batherson are all good players too. We got Guhle, Caufield...?
