Did that happen tonight?
Kevlar neckguards may be the solution but they'll never be implemented until they're refined and improved. Right now they're cumbersome.Man, that's terrible. Maybe that' s my professional background but hockey world has to figure a way to prevent those accidents and fatalities. I'm in mining industry and our people started to be safer when we stopped calling major accidents "freak accidents". That's not freak, that's avoidable with better PPEs.
I'm not a specialist and I don't want to derive a debate from that tragedy but they'll never improve until it's mandatory. Hockey leagues, especially lower level, has to be proactive. "I feel more comfortable with my PPEs than without" is something I never heard someone said.Kevlar neckguards may be the solution but they'll never be implemented until they're refined and improved. Milanos is next level hand eye and puck control, jeebus.
Montreal should get their 1st round pick for helping the NHL out of that fiascoLooks like Ottawa will be punished for the poor communication with Vegas on the Dadonov trade....2 years later.
As a hockey fan the thought of this happening is always in the back of my mind.UK Ice Hockey is popular with familes with pre-teen kids....god knows how anyone unsees what happened to poor Adam Johnson :-( Apparently an 8k sell-out at Sheffield, as their opponents Nottingham are from just down the M1 and would have had a fair few of fans there too.
RIP :-(
So tragic. I wear an undershirt with a kevlar neck guard for this very reason. I had blade cut my jersey up high on my chest one time during a collision, scared the sh** out of me.
I was actually wearing it when my jersey got cut, I'd just read about it or someone told me about them. As an older guy I've learned to be a bit more cautious. It's one thing to learn from your mistakes, but it's even better when you can learn from others. I saw someone cut their own ankle with a skate and bought some kevlar socks. Time to buy an undershirt with a kevlar neck guard. So sad to see
Easy: wear the godddam collar like kids do or used to do. It was created for that specific purpose, after at least one death.Man, that's terrible.
