Tampa and Florida series were a carbon copy, but I didnt think the Devils series was anything like it. Devils loss reeked of a lack of coaching adjustments and a checked out team losing to a worse one.

Florida and Tampa's experience helped carry them when things got dicey for them early in those series. They were also both just better than us.

Especially if Yzerbum is having buyers remorse and will send him away for nothing. I know he's not perfect but he was a net positive for the team last year and would be a nice, cheap insurance policy for next season as a veteran depth d-man.

I've seen enough times in sports, a team or a player struggle to figure it out in the playoffs, in tight games, or in big spots, and suddenly figure it out. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future success. I understand fans being pessimistic about the team's chances in a playoff series with a team like Florida, but they can figure it out. They'll have to in order to be champions. We have no control over it so we just have to wait and see.

The Rangers had Tampa dead to rights before Trouba took one of the dumbest penalties I’ve ever seen. Then came the unraveling.

I'm not sure I agree with all this. I think a lot of the changes that are going on or going to happen soon are internal changes. Players like Mancini and Edstrom this year bringing size and skating are one thing. I'm happy to see this. It beats filling holes with 30 year old free agents. We're seeing more responsibility and more minutes with Schneider. Chytil looks better than he ever has and Kakko and Cuylle may be breaking out a bit too. Organizationally Berard and Othmann are closer than they were last year. Rempe still developing but there are things he can bring too. The Rangers have a lot of younger players who are doing pretty well for themselves.

As far as the two UFA's we signed both so far have been solid additions.

The team who knocked us off the Panthers on the other hand were forced to move on from several players most notably Brandon Montour and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. They still carry a lot of self belief though something that comes naturally to teams that win championships. On paper they seem less formidable. On the ice because of that Cup means they're going to be a tough team to knock off.

That can be a tricky switch to turn on and off....I'd sooner take the season to figure out what we have in certain games and then run with the finished product towards the playoffs .

On an almost entirely unrelated note, the History of Hockey board is doing a Top 60 goalies of all time ranking. Hank placed 12th, highest of any post-lockout goalie.

We're 5th in series wins since the lockout (TBL, PIT, BOS and CHI have more), and sadly our 4 Conference Final loses are the most in the league
