The Rangers have been trying to trade him since the summer but he has a limited NMC. Drury is another of many incompetent GM's. They rebuilt rapidly and ascended well but I think he realizes they missed their window and now wants to rid the team of some vets. The problem is that Drury made it publicly known.

I would grab Trouba on waivers easily. He's basically what we want Reinbacher to be a better version of. He's popular in the locker room

Never have been. Even when they were contenders all their good players walked to free agency like Drury and Briere. The one who did stay in vanek but them in the ass cause the offer sheet would have given them four first rounders from Edmonton, I believe three of which ended up first overall and I don't really see vanek as that difference maker. At worst it's some high picks in some good drafts at some point between 2008-2012 or so I forgot exact timing.

They didn't take the picks from the OS and they ended up trading Vanek to MTL for Collberg and a 2nd.

Buffalo traded Vanek to the Islanders for Moulson, 1st and 2nd. Colberg and a 2nd were sent to the Islanders for Vanek

NYI traded Vanek to Montreal for a 2nd and Collberg, Buffalo traded Vanek to NYI for a 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and Matt Moulson.

Nobody wants to freeze their asses off in the extremely cold winds of Buffalo in the winter. They're the Winnipeg of the south.
No team rebuild with just two seasons at the bottom. Rangers threw Gorton's rebuild plan out of the window when they fired him in 2021 and opted for a retool via UFA/Trade...a retool that already need a new retool because almost half the line-up is over 30.
They said they were doing a rebuild, they sent letters to their season ticket holders and it helped that they landed Panarin and Fox early on.

Agreed, but..... just for a moment imagine him and Xhekaj on the same line......
It doesn't matter that they sent letters in 2018, the rebuild plan was abandonned in 2021 when they fired Gorton. Drury patched the line-up via trades and UFA signing and replaced the rebuild coach for "win now" coaches...and I doubt Laviolette isn't surviving this season.

But it will end up just being a bump. Especially with Drury force trading players with trade protection...
