Oshawa showed more bite today. The strategy is to use their bigger players to dominate the smaller 67s forwards and it worked well. As much as I understood why Smyth took on Butler, it cost us a power play.

Ok not overly impressed with the 67's game today. They were lucky to win this game TBH.
It looked like a different team out there today. Ottawa wasn't moving the puck like we've been customized to seeing. I thought Oster was a huge difference and McKenzie was sharp when he had to be..... Oshawa tried to bang the 67's around and give them credit it had Ottawa hurrying their passes but ultimately when the 67's decide to skate the floor is tilted in their favor...... Butler is a hard-nosed type of player that I'd have on my team any day as I like that kind of shit but after that hit near the benches the fans behind the penalty were really giving it to him. lol Butler acted like a ****wad yapping back with the fans in which someone should tell him this is not footfall! lol
Racedawg I guess you were never near the penalty box when Galbraith, David bell or a few of the others were on the team LOL

I swear Lance got more enjoyment in driving the fans crazy as he did getting the other team

That is a strategy that has worked for years in the OHL. You put the body to the other team and wear down their players and get the young guys worried about it.

The challenge I think for this team was the first game. It was too easy, and I think some of these guys got the feeling that it was going to be an easy cake walk.

The benefit we have is Dave Cameron. I am sure he had some not-for-primetime words for them after the game.

On a different but same note Boyd and the brain trust have a HUGE problem.

The way that the young guns on this team are playing has to have them wondering if next year is a retool or could they again be the power in the conference.

I am sure OMG will disagree but looking at this lineup we have almost all these guys back next year.

I remember he (RIP Lance) used to drive the Belleville fans bonkers in games that I saw there. Belleville fans were kind of douches TBH and I even hds an old man tell me to sit and shut up for cheering too loudly at the Yardman. He was about 80 lol. Kitchener used to be the worst as there was no glass behind the penalty box so when the 67's took a penalty there was a lot of conversation directed at the players. I think at the Ottawa Civic Centre as well they actually raised the glass higher because the Asylum was too busy chirping as the visiting players all game lol. Good times!

Looking forward to Tuesday's game. Hopefully a better effort from the 67's. If Ottawa ends up meeting Barrie I am less than an hour north so I will def go to a game or two....

A good team next year...yes. A power I really doubt it Beast. A small retool is the way to go imo and target 24/25 season.

I think Butler (1st line F) for Smyth (7th D) for 5 minutes is a trade-off that Ottawa would take in a heartbeat again, even if it cost us a PP (not to mention the necessity of sticking up for a teammate...though Pinelli seemed no worse for the wear after the hit). Smyth absolutely needs to be in the lineup for all games this series, without Boucher he's really the only capable fighter Ottawa has in the heavyweight class (yes, Sirman fights a lot but has he ever won one?)

The key for Ottawa is to get out to early leads against this Oshawa team and force them off their gameplan. They are exposed when they're forced to open things up when they're behind. Things spiral downward for them at that point with undisciplined play and getting caught deep when having to force things in the o-zone. Their physical, methodical style pays dividends when the games are close. One adjustment that Cameron made mid-way through yesterday's game is to pair up Mintyukov and Matier against the top Oshawa line; it'll be harder to execute that in Oshawa's barn with first change, but having their ability to move the puck quickly and crisply out of the d-zone will be critical. I'd like to see that matchup continue, and let Mayich/Constantini handle the 2nd line.

We'll need a little more out of Beck in the next couple of games. Gardiner and Foster too; I thought they looked very mediocre yesterday.

MacKenzie has looked really sharp and presumably has won the starting position.

I remember a couple of friends and I went to Belleville to watch a game and we also ran into an unusual situation. This sounds like the same man and he said I would like to take a broken hockey stick handle and stick right through Lance's gut. I said whoa that is a little drastic and he even got more irate. Even some teenage Belleville fans were giving him strange looks.

Be careful of the old guys. I was monitoring a House game here once and an old guy (with an oxygen bottle in tow) reared up and threw a water bottle at the ref. He was 4 rows up in the stands and didn't miss by much, considering the ref was behind the net. He asked me if I was proud of myself for throwing him out. I said yes.

Did anyone else notice how much the puck was bouncing in Gatineau? It seemed both teams were fighting keeping control of the puck.

Oshawa changed their approach on Sunday. They were keeping one man high in the defensive zone so Ottawa defense had to back off and were not involved as much as on Thursday. Oshawa had a number of chances by getting behind the Ottawa defense with long bomb passes.

Cameron also almost got burned by putting Mews out on the backend of the penalty in the last minutes of the game. Mews was stuck on the ice for the final 40 seconds of the game with extra Oshawa attacker. A number of chances, even last second, for Oshawa.

The Slush Puppie Centre (or Centre Slush Puppie...) sure is a nice facility. One can only hope for something similar in Lansdowne II.

The Slush Puppie Centre seems to have great sightlines. Angles seem steep so aesthetically they looking great on TV. I'd like to see one for Ottawa's Lansdowne but with 7.000 seats instead of 5K. 10,000 is too big presently however so bigger events can go to the CTC or Sens new arena....

My wife said, after the first game, that she thought the pucks were moving differently and sounded different. That could be acoustics, but maybe now we know where they get the slush from?

The old Oshawa rink was great for a fan experience. Fans sat right behind the bench with nothing between them and the players.

Killer used to have some interesting conversations.

I think every arena has that old man. They have been at the games so long that they think it s their team.

Just think in a few years ecraigs will be that old man LOL

Ottawa had a couple of fans that were super serious. Used to hate the raccoon because they said I interrupted their game.

In a few years??? Har, har, har. I remember the Cup in Brandon in 2010. Two old guys at the back, who had held those seats since before 1950. Super serious does not begin to describe them.

No goal... AKA the Leafs lol McKenzie maybe knocked net off moorings? Hard to tell could have been one of the Buckley of Oshawa. No goal...
