I heard a chant, late in the game, for Carter Bickle to go in nets. Admittedly, the fifth Ottawa goal was weak, but Oster faced a lot of shots with zero support from his teammates. I thought he played well enough.

Also, any word on Tolnai? Is he injured?

Tolnai is in concussion protocol, as reported by JF Plante. Not sure when/how said concussion happened.

Nice little rink. Capacity 4,000 or so. A full house would be rocking. They actually sell Slushies. Not a big crowd tonight, may be better on Sunday. The traffic across the bridges to Gatineau can be daunting for a school night game.
Also, let's be honest - a 1 vs. 8 first round matchup does not make for compelling viewing. When 16 out of 20 teams make the playoffs it's hard to generate a lot of excitement for round one. This series looked like it could be a blowout, and it definitely shaping up as one. Attendance at first round games is usually low, and starts building in the second round. By the third round and the OHL Championship, the place will be full and the curtains will be pulled back at TD Place.

I listened to the game last night on CFRA when 67s PxP announcer Kenny Walls called the Gens a bunch of donkeys for trying to physically intimidate the 67s that resulted in a parade of Gens penalties and numerous PP chances for the 67s. He said that if the Gens want to play like a bunch of donkeys, thats fine because its not going to get them this far in the playoffs. Kenny doesn't seem to hold back when it comes to the rough play and officiating in the OHL.

Ah the Oshawa Generals. They got soft in recent years but I do remember the big bad Gens of the 70's and 80's. They played this rough and tumble style hockey and tried to beat you in the alley. And back then it sometimes worked but Paul Theriault was a goon so Killer and him would always be screaming at each other from across the ice. I think Oshawa hated us cause we beat them in 1972 and were the favorite back then and Ottawa was new in the league. That carried over to 81 and 82 were the 67's won in some long and fiercely contested battles. Oshawa did win in 83 but the very next year the 67's won in a sweep to eventually win the Memorial Cup. Ottawa won in 88 and 89 again to put some distance between them and the Generals. There has been a few more head to head battles between the two with the 67's winning the majority including a sweep a few years ago.

Ok so I thought Oshawa would grab a couple of games in this series but after last night that was truly pathetic. Could be short if they don't start playing hockey...

Just reported Mackenzie out with pulled groin muscle. Donoso is not cleared to play. 67's must go with emergency goalie for tonight's game

Just saw that Caton Ryan one of our pjcks last year has commited to Colgate. I know this doesn't mean he won't change his mind but I thought he was a good candidate to make the team next year as he's had a good year in the CCHL. He is a dual citizen so maybe he's attracted to the NCAA?

All you need to do is look at Shane Wright and it's clear why kids are choosing the NCAA. Because Shane was drafted by the NHL from the OHL (CHL) he is forced back to his Junior Team. He clearly belongs in the AHL this season developing his skills against superior competition. NCAA doesn't hinder these kids .... easy choice.

Buttsy you have confused me. The NCAA is more restrictive at least in the CHL you can play the 8 games plus at the end of the season they can do an ATO with NCAA they are stuck only playing with that team.

When a player is drafted by an NHL Team and they play for an NCAA Team they are free to leave the NCAA immediately and join the NHL Team or the AHL (minors) so effectively an 18 year old can play in the AHL or minors. If a player is drafted by an NHL Team from a CHL Team as an 18 year old they are restricted to the 8 games like you mention. But they either have to stay with the NHL Team after 8 games or return to the CHL. It's the only reason Shane Wright is in Windsor. Seattle had to keep him on an NHL roster or return him. He clearly belongs in the AHL where he is developing and earning a paycheck. IMO anyway ....

Shane Wright is in the AHL I thought he was playing for Windsor????????

Yes you may be correct but think about this how many 18 year old NCAA registered players make the NHL in their first year?
NCAA players do not have the ability to play any games with the NHL team so they have a hard time cracking a lineup.
NCAA players will not play in the AHL their first season never happened they will always go back to school. Just look at the past 2 years.

I am asked to back up my comments so I will ask you Can you name me a player that was playing in the NCAA drafted that went to the AHL. to start the season.

If what you are saying is true then Why did the Sens send Boucher to the 67 and not Belleville.

67s only lineup change is Smyth in for Ewles. Gens have Toms ('06) in for injured Petrou ('04) and now have Ertel (forward) on D for today in his 2nd career game on D (first was the last game of the season vs KGN)

It is very easy to get the 67s rattled and make mistakes. A better team will take advantage down the road....good thing for Ottawa is they probably won't see a great team until the OHL finals

Ok not overly impressed with the 67's game today. They were lucky to win this game TBH.
It looked like a different team out there today. Ottawa wasn't moving the puck like we've been customized to seeing. I thought Oster was a huge difference and McKenzie was sharp when he had to be..... Oshawa tried to bang the 67's around and give them credit it had Ottawa hurrying their passes but ultimately when the 67's decide to skate the floor is tilted in their favor...... Butler is a hard-nosed type of player that I'd have on my team any day as I like that kind of shit but after that hit near the benches the fans behind the penalty were really giving it to him. lol Butler acted like a ****wad yapping back with the fans in which someone should tell him this is not footfall! lol

Wow Hush that's quite the statement on the top defensive team in the league. Do they make mistakes...of course it's junior hockey but they've made less than any team in the league this year. You can't make a statement like this based on one game where they let their guard down after game 1.
