Looking at the scores across the OHL this pas week, it shows that it is not easy winning on the road.

I think we all know the lineup when everyone comes back, I can roll a lineup that will only be a player or two off. D men will go in & out for the 6th spot Marelli, Sirman, Ewles, Horner will take turns on the bottom pair. Dever will play more than Kelly but Kelly will draw in the odd time down the stretch.

Best lineup

Cooper Foster~Logan Morrison~Jack Beck
Luca Pinelli~Vinzenz Rohrer~Will Gerrior
Brady Stonehouse~Cameron Tolnai~Tyler Boucher
Chris Barlas~Brad Gardiner~Jack Dever

Matthew Mayich ~Jack Matier
Pavel Mintyukov ~Anthony Costantini
Frankie Marelli~Henry Mews

Thomas Sirman
Gavin Ewles
Bradly Horner
Caden Kelly
Derek Smyth (Mono)
I agree with this. Couple slight changes though.

Imo, Gerrior cannot play top 6 minutes. He has flashes and had some pretty goals this season but he is a head-down chip & chase player. Unless you view Rohrer, Pinelli as our 3rd liners and want to move Tolnai's line to #2, he's gotta move.

I'd have:

Foster-Morrison-Beck
Pinelli-Rohrer-Boucher
Stonehouse-Tolnai-Gerrior
Barlas-Gardiner-Dever

Mayich-Matier
Mintyukov-Constantini
Sirman-Mews

I'll give Sirman the 6th spot as two 16-year olds come playoff time could get nerve-wracking despite how good they are/shown they will be. Marrelli leads the charge of first to get in if lineup changes are to be made.

In tight games/playing from behind, I'm sure we'll see combos with the likes of: Beck-Morrison-Boucher, Stonehouse/Pinelli-Tolnai-Rohrer & Mintyukov-Matier, Constantini-Mews.

I agree with your lines as much as I like Gerrior he doesn't quite have the finishing ability to be top 6. I'm hoping next year if his hands catch up to his feet that he'll be a bigger offensive contributor. As for the D don't forget Smyth. If healthy he imo could be a big factor in certain match ups particularly North Bay where his size could be useful. As much as I like Mews/Marelli I don't think they are ready for the last 2-3 rounds of the playoffs. If Smyth isn't ready I'd actually play Ewles as the 6th guy...he's been sneaky good imo and a safer D right now. Besides with the addition of Minty and as Matier/Costantini/ to a lesser degre Sirman can provide offense and puck movement Mews is not a priority to get in the lineup.

I'd like to see Foster and Stonehouse switched. I like Foster, and he's been a good goal scorer for us this season, but Stonehouse would be able to add a stronger forechecking and puck retrieval element to that line that is missing with Morrison and Beck (and that Foster doesn't really have either), while of course Stonehouse would be able to hold his own offensively with those two offensive players.

The Tolnai line already has that forechecking element with Gerrior, and the Morrison line already has the scoring element with Beck (and Morrison). Both Foster and Stonehouse are (imo) kind of redundant on their current lines. We'd lose the Stonehouse/Tolnai chemistry with the switch, but really optimize that top Morrison line. The Rohrer line is really strong as is (assuming Boucher and Rohrer eventually come back at full health).

I have full confidence in Cameron, but that is one switch I'd make if I were to armchair QB this lineup.

Ok folks now that the trade deadline is done I'm curious what people think we'll do in the playoffs. I know we haven't iced our full team yet but for fun what do you think? Firstround, second, semis, finals or champion! I'll give my opinion a bit later.

I need to see the team at full capacity, with everyone back in the lineup against strong competition, before I make an assessment personally. With the current lineup (sans Rohrer, Morrison and Boucher) I think they'd go down fighting in the 2nd round, but that's almost certainly unfair to them so I'll wait and see.

I strongly suspect we'll see Morrison and Rohrer back in the lineup this evening.
I heard during last Sunday's broadcast that they should be back this weekend. I hope that Smyth and Boucher will be ready to go for the playoffs as they are basically the only true grit we have on the team.

I heard 6 weeks for Boucher, but honestly I'm not sure if that's from the day he was injured in the game against Canada at the World Juniors, or from when I heard it (two weeks ago). So, maybe he's back on the ice mid-Feb(?)
