When it comes to Minty I think it's also a question of the team getting used to him. He's the most dynamic weapon on D we've had in ages. The guy and coaches need a bit of time to learn how to use him. Once they do...watch out. Some "experts " have said he may be the most talented player in the O.
Mintyukov is a very forward thinking and moving player, it will take the team a little time to adjust to his style of play. The forwards need to be aware when he is on the ice, when he jumps the rush he will stay deep in the zone much longer than the others and a forward needs to cover his position defensively.

I agree, Minty can really skate, gets his shot off very quickly and will contribute a lot on offense. People on the ice with him have to be prepared to cover his position when he takes off into the offensive zone.

I think he will become a very valuable asset when he gets acclimated in his new surroundings.

This morning on TSN 1200, they referred to the 67's playing at the Slush Puppie Centre in Gatineau this Spring during the playoffs. I had completely forgotten that the World Curling Championships are on at TD Place from April 1-9. Oh well - at least it is Round 1, a Round that we should win even if it gets played on an outdoor rink...

In 1994, we played game 7 of the first round in Guertin due to the Home Show. Washburn scored with 2.4 seconds left to tie it and Simpson won it in OT. In 1984, Ottawa played the first two games of the Finals against a very strong Kitchener club in Ottawa, and then left for up to 5 games in Kitchener, due to a conflict in dates in the Civic Centre. After a close game one, Ottawa blew the Rangers out in game 2, then won 2 of 3 in Kitchener.

The problem is that the team is in unfamiliar dressing rooms, playing on unfamiliar ice. It can be a big logistical issue. Not to mention, fans getting there for the game(s).

In 1994, it was Kilrea's last season (Part A) before he left to go to the Islanders as assistant coach. I was at the game in Hull, the row behind the Ottawa bench, and was thinking how awful it would be if this was Killer's last game for the 67's.

The 67's were always scrambling for the first round of the playoffs due to the perennial Home Show being booked at the Civic Centre.

And the Slush Puppie Centre in Gatineau is no 'outdoor rink'. It is a fantastic complex.

From the TSM 1200 interview with Dave Cameron:

Morrisson is day-to-day
Rohrer has no concussion symptoms after phase 1 concussion protocol; called it a "miracle"
Boucher is week-to -week
Pinnelli did have the flu this past Sunday
Smyth is still a month away from contact

It sure would be nice to get all players back for the last month of the schedule. Give them time to form some chemistry and make adjustments to the lineup as required by the coaching staff. We could then at least have a true picture of what we really have. Smyth will have to be excluded due to his situation and it will take time to get up to speed.

Kilrea went to NYI after the 1984 Cup and returned two years later. He "retired" in 1994 in favour of Peter Lee. But your point is well-taken. My son was 8 and couldn't see the late goal ('cause he was short) and started crying because he thought the game was over. It is nice to know that, even with the changes at Lansdowne, Ottawa's status as primary tenant has not changed (still sucks.)

The big challenge for fans was the seating season ticket holders did not know where to sit. Hopefully, the team is able to get a good seating chart out to the season ticket holders. How many seats are there in the slush puppy? At least this time, people will be used to beer in the seats. Players will get an idea of the dressing room and stuff with the game against the Olympique.

Did OMG get in trouble with the gods again?????

Seats about 4,000 for hockey. Brand new building.

Tough weekend on the road, hopefully we get a few bodies back. Pretty sure Pinelli will be back. Hope Mo is there. The rest are likely out. 4/6 pts would be ok given the circumstances.

If we can beat Barrie then I think it is possible for us to alk away with 6 pts and sweep. Sag and Kit are playing crap right now
