No offence but Wright and his management team screwed up during covid. When other players were making deals in Europe to play, he stayed in Canada and did nothing to keep him in the sports eye or improve his game. That hurt him in the draft.

As to Ottawa getting him I am not sure it is the best deal to make. It is going to be expensive.
My question is if theytakee the Wright deal will they have enough in the tank to make other deals.

Also when will the Kraken pull the pin and announce that he is coming back to the OHL?

If he has a stand-out WJC and shows that he is one of the top centers in the tournament, the Kraken may pull thepin onn a trade of their own and make space for him in thelineupp on a regular basis.

Easy, he’s never done it. Until he has, he’s not.
The implication was that he is a 130 point player THIS season. You have no idea how many points he would have gotten in his 18 year old season since he was too busy ripping up the AHL and playing in the NHL. We know he got almost 100 as a 17 year old so it is not a stretch to think he could get 130 this year. But, to definitely say he wouldn’t seems like a really strong statement.

I think it would be a huge mistake for the kraken to keep him. Not this year but down the road when they have to pay him more (ELC expiring) and potentially lose him sooner (UFA). He isn’t adding anything to the 4th line and is sitting at 8 games played. I’d be blown away if they burn that year.

They will make sure it is announced to the teams that need to know well enough in advance of the deadline to make sure he gets dealt. It seems to be what Wright and the Kraken want so I’m sure they won’t let the opportunity slip. The Kraken seem to be pretty secretive and only announce things when they are absolutely needed to so it wouldn’t surprise me if we hear nothing until the end of the tourney.

I agree Wright should have played during his 16 year old season. The golfing did not help his game.

Not saying he would, only he hasn’t and that is good enough for me to conclude the price differential between he and Morrison does not justify an 06 1st round pick. If he outplays Morrison in the playoffs wherever they land, enough to warrant that, I’ll eat crow. Until then, my opinion remains.

That’s fair. I think that the difference would only be that large between them if you were losing a strong OA to make room for Morrison, which is not the case for Ottawa.

Players heading back to there teams from the break. we may start seeing some trades come in the nearing days

Sounding like Missy is selling. Rumblings on the Sarnia board that DelMaestro is going there and a Missy Centre going to Peterborough, probably DelBelBelluz.

Maybe Granderson is right. Wright to Ottawa. Missy is out of it. Petes would be out. NB is definitely done. Sarnia would have nothing left. Saggy wouldn’t make that deal. Kitchener has made many big deals so unlikely there. That leaves LDN, FLT and WSR. Flint and Windsor unlikely to trade their 1sts. That leaves Ottawa and London left for Wright?

If that is all true, why would Boyd trade for Wright and call it a day? I’m starting to think this may be an all in year.

I fully agree however I thought he would have been back sooner than this. With Francis I am not sure what he is doing.

I think the problem that the Kraken face is that they are in the hunt to make the playoffs so can not afford to baby Wright with minutes and remove a player and line that is working.

However, this is the NHL and anything can happen.

There is a rumor that he is not good in the dressing room and I worry about the ego that could come with him.

it will be interesting to see how he does and if he is a leader on this Junior Canada team. The other side of his head could be saying that this is just ice time until he can go back to the Kraken and play in the NHL again.

No one really knows and again Francis is not going to tip his hand until he has to in case of injuries or a trade deal that he can not refuse.

The interesting thing is that the same can be said for Morrison. So that leaves the teams in an interesting position.

We are back to the do you want wright or Morrison. I would expect that trade for either will be announced soon.

London has an opening for a Center the question for them though is are they playing for it all this year or would they try for it next year.

It is going to be an interesting 2 weeks.

JB is going to get a chance to see if Shane is the right fit for the dressing room watching him this week which will help decide.

If all the rumblings are true, the decision is already made. Time for evaluation is over. The WJHC is not going to make a difference in opinion on whether you like the player or not. It is a short tourney and the players are surrounded by other studs.

It is sounding like:
1- Wright to Ottawa
2- DelMaestro to Sarnia
3- DelBelBelluz to Peterborough

That leaves Mintyukov, Winterton, Harrison and potentially Owen Beck as the prize pieces left on the board. Plus, you can add some OAs to that equation as well as some second tier 19 year olds.

If Missy does follow though on the sell off, that sort of floods the market which means there may be a bit of a bargain at the end. Players like Harrison would have almost zero chance of returning an ‘06 1st.

So are you thinking that Hamilton is going to keep Morrison and see how they can do this year or what do you see them doing.

Hamilton, if they can p[ut together a competitive team next year would be an interesting bidder for the cup.

Kingston is going to need a lot of players to step up next year and hope that Ludwinski does not make depleted Chicago team.

I cannot say what will or won’t happen in Hamilton. All I can say is there are a handful of posters on these OHL boards that have a strong habit of “hearing things” that come true. The two Missy deals are ones that seem to be whispers by those people.

I am assuming it is DelBelBelluz going to Peterborough but it could be Beck. One or the other but DeBelBelluz makes more sense.

A handful of people have been saying Wright to Ottawa which would now make more sense if Missy is selling and the Petes are buying. Not many teams left that make sense for Wright other than Ottawa so it is sounding more true.

With respect to Morrison? Who knows? He’s a high value OA that will likely be traded. Where? I dunno. I was hoping Ottawa but if Ottawa is in on Wright, I’m not sure if Ottawa is in on Morrison.

No one seems to be saying anything about Wright.

Mintyukov to Ottawa makes sense. They have the assets and an open Import slot. But, as far as I can tell, only Granderson seems to have said it.

Granderson also said Harrison to Ottawa. Who knows?

Ottawa does have more than enough assets to make all three of those deals. So it could be true.

Is Boyd setting himself up for a move to an NHL staff and this is his opportunity to make a run at it after being the GM for Team Canada the last two seasons? If not now, when?

Latest rumblings

Doors have closed on Mintyukov I haven’t heard to much about this anymore

Wright to Ottawa, Foster & picks to Kingston
Del Mastro to Ottawa, Marrelli & picks to Miss
Harrison to Ottawa. laforme & picks to Oshawa

Also in on Morison but asking price is higher then anyone.

I may sound crazy but teams are in & out on players daily, example we could be out on Morrison right now but it takes a day & we could be back in. I don’t believe Ottawa will get all of theses deals done but I do believe this is what is being worked on right now. & I expect two of them to get done.

This is the latest rumblings I have heard we will see what happens over the next few days

Not what I have heard
He is the name that popped up as ”gone” when talking about Wright - perhaps it’s a separate move?

That’s probably it then.

Adding Wright, Harrison & Del Mastro we would look something like this. What is everyone’s opinion on this type of lineup when healthy. I have heard a rumour that Smyth could be out for 1-2 more months

Brady Stonehouse- Cameron Tolnai- Jack Beck
Luca Pinelli- Shane Wright- Tyler Boucher
Will Gerrior- Brett Harrison- Vinzenz Rohrer
Chris Barlas- Brad Gardiner-Jack Dever

Matthew Mayich - Jack Matier
Ethan Del Mastro-Anthony Costantini
Thomas Sirman- Henry Mews

Scratched
Ethan Quick
Caden Kelly
Derek Smyth (out long term)

Cooper Foster + Picks for Shane Wright

Frankie Marrelli + Picks for Ethan Del Mastro

Steven Laforme/Gavin Ewles + Picks for Brett Harrison

Up front, I’d keep Rohrer and Pinelli together, and Tolnai and Stonehouse, and work from there. So:

Beck - Wright - Boucher
Pinelli - Harrison - Rohrer
Gerrior - Tolnai - Stonehouse
Barlas - Gardiner - Dever (or Quick or Kelly)

Would also result in Rohrer moving back to his natural wing position.

I’d be surprised if anyone took Laforme off our hands, he has little to no trade value.

I think all three is probably overkill. Like you said, two of three is more likely. I think they strategically use their OA spot for the 3rd player.

At that point, I don’t think lines matter. If the 67s were to get Wright and Harrison plus an impact OA or Import D-Man, I think they would be very formidable.

With Missy selling, it sort of floods the market. There could end up being a Suzuki type deal available right at the deadline if there’re is a team holding out too long.

Rohrer i have not seen him playing any games for Austria so far, the 2 exhibitions and their first game against Sweden. Did he get injured?

It would be more to give a body back and give the kid a chance to play to finish his OHL career. He'd be a throw in essentially.

Del Maestro for Marelli seems like a crap deal.

There is no way that he is worth Marelli and picks

Ewle and picks would be a better deal

I also think that Laforme would probably nix a deal out of Ottawa. He has played enough to guarantee the extra year on his scholastics

How would he nix a deal? He shouldn't have a no trade clause. Would he rather get waived out of the league if Ottawa doesn't have space for him?
