If McDavid turned Maroon into a 27 goal scorer what can he do with this guy

Remember on our team McDavid is also a middle six centerman

If Fredric signs with us that is great and the value of the trade is good. If he does not we traded two of our better prospects including LaChance who is a surefire NHL player, the compensation we got for Broberg, and a 4th for Petr Hauser and Max Jones. To top it off...worst case scenario is Fredric signs in St. Louis and we have the Blues pilllaging us again.....taking Broberg, Holloway, Fredric for basically nothing (except Fischer) because we gave away what we got for brobergI don't understand the fretting over acquisition cost. He's probably the only guy available that has size/physicality and a scoring touch. It is what it is, and these aren't assets that are meaningfully relevant.
We could have just added a bunch of Max Jone's and hoped for the best, but I'd prefer we pay a little more to get a physical player that actually has a chance to contribute on the scoresheet too.
As always, I think its silly to speculate on "oh they have no assets left they're done now" or "he's injured until playoffs!" until we actually know that either are true. If he's the only guy we get, its a f*** up. Just don't see the value in catastrophizing that now.
Bowman is gonna have to restock it. Gonna have to use that NCAA pipeline he apparently has as well as looking at Europe. To go along with this new fancy pro scouting department we have and hopefully start identifying players that our system can use.No matter what the next few days bring--I hope that the trio of Savoie, O'Reilly and Akey will remain with the Oilers so there is some regard to younger, (possible star) players stepping into the lineup over the next few seasons. Especially with such an older group of players in their twilight years.
I understand the "win now" philosophy but wow the pipeline looks like it has lost a lot of pressure.

That (not moving their feet) is a common complaint for most big players.
Sounds like a Patrick Maroon type player.
If so he might see some time in the top 6...that should get his feet moving.![]()
Bruins fan here.
Frederic is having the season where he can be a world beater for a week stretch then can disappear for several weeks. He's very much a middle 6 power forward. Mainly gets most of his goals around the net.
When he's on, he plays very physical and he excels in puck retrieval deep in the opposing zone. He really excels when he has a creative linemate that can create offense for him. He's not going to dangle through anyone. His best portion of his Bruins career was when he was on a line with Taylor Hall and Charlie Coyle. Hall and Coyle would mainly drive the offense and Frederic would clean up a lot of their offense. Frederic also has a very under rated shot and can sometimes have a knack for finding open ice in the offensive zone.
When he's not on, I'm not going to lie.. He will drive you crazy. Maybe a bit drastic, but he played with the Milan Lucic trends of playing tough for a game or two, then you really only notice him except for a hit or two the next couple weeks. Maybe the occasional fight. The past couple of playoffs, Florida really beat him down and he disappeared when the Bruins really needed him to drive physicality.
Personally, I think if he can play with a skilled center on your team.. He will do very well. If he's expected to drive a line in your bottom 6, he will be in St. Louis next October. He may be there anyway.
Cheers guys. Hoping you guys can finish the job this year. I love McDavid. So exciting to watch.
Actually, it is best if you look at more than one year with NHL edge. This is especially true for guys who play down the line-up. His top speed in 2023-24 was 77th percentile and in 2022-23 it was 81 percentile. 2021-22 was also 78 percentile. Not that tough, the NHL tracks it.

He's got below average top speed, but above average acceleration.

Interesting but I doubt that Fredric has anything close to Foegles speed.Maroon was a limited player with one outstanding skill set: soft hands, amazing handeye, and impossible to move. Dude is a god in front of the net and along the wall, but really limited in every other situation.
Frederic is smaller (near everyone is), and more of a swiss army knife. He can do a little of everything, but shouldn't be you go-to option at anything. A bigger Foegele would be a better comparison.
It really is jaw dropping how much the Oil needed a player like this. (and Frederic is no world beater). But that's what happens when you're 32nd in hits.
Finally they have someone that can spell Hyman as a net front presence to give him a rest, and actually open up ice for the near countless 6 ft nothing, 190lb players the Oil have throughout the top 9.
I also think Max Jones is getting looked over a little here. He wasn't needed at all in Boston, where their bottom 6 is nothing but size, but I do see a fit here. A lot like Kostin, he's not a system player that can play within structure, but someone that needs to run around to be effective and allowed to be a sparkplug.
Frederic goes a long way to opening up ice for the smaller skilled players here, but Jones has the ability to generate that spark/pulse that they're often missing.
Really? News to you? Captain of his team in his freshman year. Point of game player in college as a 6'5" player without Celebrini this year. If you look at the comparables he will be an NHLer.The bold is news to me.
What the Blues do or don't do isn't relevant to this.

So. Still 4 reasaonably valuable assets gone for a guy that might not even play a game for the team, an AHL player and a prospect that has 1 goal in his last 3 seasons? This is a ridiculous overpay.
You're obviously not familiar with this org. They paid Arvidsson 8M guaranteed, NMC straight off two back surgeries.
They obtained injured Connor Brown on blanket statement from Brown himself that he would be good to go. 1.5yrs later he's still f***ing useless. They also obtained Stecher last year who was injured and couldn't even go. They paid Jack Campbell 5M times years to do his best Robin Lehner impression. These are just recents. Historically the Oilers have lacked due diligence.
Another injured player who is a UFA after this season
Someone may need to explain this to me.
If we were trading a 2nd 4th and lechance I thought we would get more
At minimum the fact he's injured should have led them to putting some kind of condition on the deal either reducing the 2nd round pick to a third or removing the 4th pick if Fredric plays less than 10 total games (regular season and playoffs combined).I am confused by this deal. They did know he was injured right?
That's what they said about AndreychukHis skating is a problem.
He’s no guarantee.
