Shows again that goalies have little to no value and how badly Jersey got fleeced on the Markstrom deal. Paid more for a 34 year old making 6m and rocking a .892 and
905 last two years.

Boston's defensive style will probably turn Korpisalo into a Vezina candidate. Unless Ottawa makes some major moves on defense, Ullmark will have Korpisalo like numbers next season. Most goaltenders are products of the team's defense.
Ullmark was just fine on buffalos team.

Senators were also 14th best out of 32 in xgaa and boston 18th

Bostons defense isnt that amazing and the sentators defense isnt as bad as everyone thinks. The difference is the goaltending.

Korp will have better stats than ullmark next year. Ullmark already did the weak lineup deal in Buffalo and was one of the worst starters in the league.

Sens will get burned again as Ullmark won't re-sign with them like their last few trade targets.

Yeah, Ullmark’s .912 save percentage for the Sabres was horrible.

One of the worst starters in the league.

OK

Ottawa got a good one. Phenomenal player and an even better person. Understand why he needed to go but he’ll be dearly missed. Hopefully getting to see him several times a year won’t end up being a bad thing…

Ullmark was just fine with buffalos defense. Hes not a product of boston

Goalies and team D go hand and hand. If the Sens have not learned this lesson yet, they never will. There are only 5 goalies (maybe 10) that are able to play to a top level and carry a team with flaws on D. The rest of them (like Ullmark) need to have a good team D to get the best results.

Remember when the Leafs blamed Anderson for "costing them the playoffs". Well, since he left, they have blamed others. Always a blame game and some of their smart fans know it was their team D.

Nah, it's all about the fact that Ullmark wouldn't sign. There was the much better return for Ullmark with an extension and the "rental" price.

Damn Boston really just gave this dude away to a divisional rival just like that for that price?

Bruins win this deal after a year shakes out . The killer might be if they hit on that 1st round pick. Korpi and kastelic might be very useful players. Korpi is 30 which isn't that bad in terms of age wise and has had flashes of elite goaltending in jacket days. Kastelic only 25 big bodied guy who finds his game might be a solid 3rd or 4th liner. If linus doesn't hit his elite level in Ottawa or he leaves after a year Bruins looking good here.
I would do this deal again and again and again and again. Even just to see what competent level goaltending looks like and where Ottawa is actually at.

You don't seem to grasp how bad Korpisalo was here. It was unholy.

Initial reaction was Bruins got fleeced but the trade is starting to grow on me. 3 mil is probably too much but not outrageous for a backup and Korp will be a better goalie on the Bruins team( will be interesting to see what Broissoit signs for as a very good backup goalie). 25th pick could turn out very good or bad. How Bussi ( appears to be a pretty decent goalie) fits into this is the confusing part as Bruins fans have stated , he could be lost as a waiver drop. Perhaps ,they go with 3 goalies to start and if Bussi shines ,they put Korp on waivers (if they can't make a trade happen) and if he goes , they have disposed of a too expensive contract for a backup goalie,

The risk is locking yourself into 4 years of salary retention, losing futures (even if you get them back later it's much more valuable to have them NOW), and ending up only getting a rental for it.
He was being bought out or heavily retained or traded with major sweetener anyway. He was not being kept because he's balls.

Donny betting on korpi playing like his Columbus days. With the system the bruins play and their excellent goaltending coaching I wouldn't be surprised he puts better numbers then linus. Linus is gonna get shelled with the way the sens play. Let's see.
Your statements are basically wishful thinking from a Leafs fan. . Korpisalo was mostly crappy in Columbus. Also I really doubt he puts up numbers close to Ullmark for Boston. And Ullmark will play well in Ottawa as he is a better tender than Korpi and the the team's D and coaching will be much better than previous years.

Let's see how this shakes out as it stands linus is gonna leave from Ottawa in a year. This is a decent haul for somome who isnt commiting.

Any way you slice it, this is an upgrade for Ottawa.
If he stays over a year otherwise bruins win.
