Do we have to take them?
Maybe they can merge the two teams together and become a .500 team.
Bad move by Spanish, but he and the league weren't going to pay for a stadium in SD - so his options were limited.
not sure how to put it on here but those of you with twitter should look at the lightening's post about how the la dodgers and the tampa lightening are just friends.
the Charger move is going to be a flat out disaster. Who exactly is going to go to their games, other than fans of the other team? They have no significant fan base up here and no one from San Diego will come up here.
I am one of the few Charger fans who live in LA and and have no plans to support the team up here. They are the San Diego Chargers. Spanos can die in a fire.
Even so, I expect the transplants in the LA/OC area to be able to fill up Stub Hub Center no problem. As echoed earlier, resale for the Raiders game is going to be insane.
No one is going to buy a freaking PSL for that team (or the Rams for that matter).
The league gave him $300M and his relocation fee will be as much as $650M. So that is a large chunk of the cash needed for a stadium. He could have stayed but couldn't spend his own money to do so.
It's moves like this that make people hate the owners of sports teams.
