Someone parked in the post office yesterday.

I was behind the counter at one of my retail shops one day when someone got out of their car across the parking lot and started walking to our front door but he left the car in drive.

The car beat him to our front door and smashed right into the showroom right through the front floor to ceiling window.

Fun times.

We had the worst year I can remember for mosquitos out here as well.
I tried to take my dogs out for a walk in a little natural area near my place around 6PM yesterday - only lasted 15 minutes, the mosquitoes were absolutely ravenous. I've never seen them that bad before.

Its now half a drive thru. Just need another wingnut driver to total the back wall.

These drivers exist among us. "I'm just driving along and post office jumped out at me."

Just the other day I'm driving in a standard 60 zone in an area with traffic lights AND a well marked and lighted crosswalk. Some idiot in a pickup truck nearly barreled into me from behind while speeding and not even looking. I'd flashed my breaks several times before slowly coming to a stop as traffic had stopped for a pedestrian with pedestrian light flashing. Somehow the idiot stopped looking at his phone or whatever he was doing and slammed on the breaks. The only reason he didn't hit me is I stopped giving a 15 foot window from the next car and eased up at last moment giving him a dozen more feet to skid to a stop...

I routinely slow down when a stop is ahead because I'm looking ahead and at the idiots behind me. I often spot one that is not even paying attention to the act of driving. So I feel like I have to drive for them too.

A buddy of mine sent me this fun hockey trivia game called Puckdoku. It's kind of like Sudoku but you try to pick players most of the other people who okay don't pick to keep your uniqueness score low. You have to plot players from the NHL teams or indicator (sometimes it's a career point stat or something) shown in the top row to teams shown down the left side and plot a player in that square but the catch is, the player has to have played at least 1 career game for both teams (current and retired players) I'm not explaining it the best but this was mine from today, if that helps:

Kinda what happens when the City really doesn't spray like they use to.

I mean the City as a whole doesn't do a lot of stuff like they use to lol
You mean like mow and weed control the ditches on their major thoroughfares? I went to visit my 2 daughters 2-3 weeks ago and was not surprised but still appalled by the “natural” state these areas were in, and I know it’s not new it’s been going on for a decade plus now, but I had forgotten. It’s one thing to properly landscape them as natural from the get go, but having driven the route I did to work downtown for so many years, I know it was a budget cut/green (herbicide)commitment from previous councils that brought it to that state. It’s like saying I want to have a rustic farm house so you build something brand new and shiny, then let it go to shit for 30 years and do no maintenance or upkeep and then pat yourself on the back and say you accomplished what you set out to do.

Edmonton Council must be run by the same idiots that are on the Elks BoD.

In Germany & Canada a cyclist has no right of way in a crosswalk. I assume the stop sign is there to indicate the riders should dismount, then cross on foot (having the right of way).

A couple weeks ago I almost hit a guy riding a city-bike on the sidewalk thru a crosswalk ~3 meters before the intersection (where he SHOULD be riding any bike). It was after midnight, and I did look around for pedestrians. Bicycles come faster than a pedestrian which is why it's really dangerous for the softer vehicle (bike). I could stop, but within centimeters of him.

Buddy: waving his arms screaming
I pull over safely after turning: You have no right of way in a crosswalk
Buddy: You want to drive over me
me: you're lucky I'm so bad at driving then
Buddy: Drive Safely (Fahr Vorsichtig)
me: *eyroll* and drive off

What always gets me is how much the City spends on "beautifying and planting trees along new road constructions and revisions. So they plant a bunch of bushes and trees and water them for maybe a year and then 5 years from then they are all dead and the next work project is tearing everything up or just leaving the 5foot high weeds be the new bushes and greenery.

One of the modern dynamics of how people are now is that certain people are attracted to any positions of power. Not that they would be good at it.... Brighter minds tend to be more attracted to business and money now. So that we get what we get. People that are bright in their minds only.

This in a nutshell is Edmonton Council and the types of things believed in. The person on council that was foremost supporting this boodoggle tried to run for mayor.

if you had to explain how Edmonton is run as a city in one picture you just show this one.

Oh god I remember that. What a fiasco. “We used it 20 times, we consider it a success.” That’s not how you measure the effectiveness or overall performance of a plan!!! FFS.

To your post, yep, it just confirms that idiots run all levels of government while the best and brightest stay far away and go into business pursuits (except certain community owned, not for profit businesses, those seem to attract the same idiots that are on councils).

OMG I am laffing out loud at the “today’s”political incorrectness of that photo and the straight out hilarity at the same time. Anyone else notice that Hannibal’s cigar is full sized however?

I pity the fool.

Edit - it it just me or doesn’t the “mini” Dirk Benedict look a little like Connor McDavid with sunglasses?

I like how the article says "some people loved it" yeah, Krushell, the village idiot of the time. People looked at bewildered, puzzled, some would outright boo or laugh at the city. yeah it was popular in Calgary. They loved seeing that ugly float represent Edmonton. The only place the thing probably got a cheer. "look at that, lol, Edmonton"

Anyone ever go for brews at the Cromdale? My dad did.
It think the Beverly Crest was his hangout in the mid to late 60s.
Yes, and yes.

;)

I grew up working with Bricklayers. We went to all these places. These were considered fine establishments.

Dad had option on original part owner of the Cromdale hotel but declined. The other investors had more money and they had lawyers...figured he would get fleeced.

"Licensed beverage rooms for Ladies and Gentleman" If people read this now they figure it was like a sex room. Nah, not really, it was just in Social credit days here Men and Women in most bars were not allowed to drink together. There would be separate rooms. Believe it.

44 rooms, 20 with TV! lol Most of the rooms in that place nobody was thinking about watching TV.

Late 60's drinking in watering holes? your dad could've known my dad.
