Islands in the stream.
England scrapes by Columbia 2-1

Australia wins 7-6 in a penalty shoot out. Both Australia and France had a lot of chances to score in regulation time.

Good games!

I believe these two teams play to see who goes to the final.

It's been a brilliant tournament all around so far.
I dunno. Still wondering why the France goal in Extra time was called back. Seems sometimes like the result wants to be scripted and the home side winning. Albeit winning a 0-0 game requiring around 25 penalty kicks to decide a match wasn't that great.

I just got the 30min version of highlights of the game so it wasn't completely explained why France goal was called back. Seemed real emphatic as well by the official. I saw nothing wrong with the play. Other than it being a perfectly taken own goal. hehe

Penalty kicks were odd too. On the winning goal seems like the goalie didn't even move on what wasn't a well taken shot. She didn't even have to guess right on that one, just watched it go in.

I agree about the France goal, they called it back becasue the Aussie defender took a face plant and it looked like she was shoved by the French girl but on closer look it really did not look like it.

I'm a bike rider and i use bike paths and like to ride. I will say that bike riders in Edmonton are a THOUSAND times worse than cars at actually following the rules of the road. It is dangerous sand embarrassing.

Good grief, the mosquitos are just atrocious right now. I had to cut my walk short today and this is a city walk, not a nature walk. I have to do some yard work today so I'll be sweltering in a hoodie and long pants.

Kinda what happens when the City really doesn't spray like they use to.

I mean the City as a whole doesn't do a lot of stuff like they use to lol

True, it is kind of funny when they interview city politicians an then are trying their best to defend the undefendable.

Despite being a poor club in the standings the Riverhawks go out and put up fabulous attendance numbers this year. Seems there is another club not far away that maybe should be reaching out to the Riverhawks for advice

The organization has seen success with a jam-packed promo schedule, with special events each night and themes dedicated to a wide range of communities in Edmonton.

"On a micro scale, it's fan first, fun first. And on a macro scale, it's all about building community," Hogle said. "This has been a gathering ground for thousands of years, dating back to the Indigenous People who came before us, that's what it is today.

Heartbreak for Sweden once again as they lose to Spain 2-1 in Auckland.

Wild game, was scoreless up until about the 80th minute. Spain scored, then Sweden tied it with about 3 minutes left.

Then Spain scored with just a minute left to win it from a corner kick where they caught Sweden napping in their alignment.

England vs Australia next up tomorrow with the winner going to the final.

England 3 - Australia 1 so England moves on to the final vs Spain.

Australia had plenty of chances to win the game though, lots of scoring chances. I think the England goalkeeper was a bit better.

A little surprised there was not some controversy over the 2nd England goal as to me it looked like the goal scorer grabbed the defender and dragged her off balance.

Really good world cup. I've been impressed.

Thanks for the updates. The start times have made watching difficult. After the manner in which Australia beat France I'm OK with them going out on controversy. They had the fortune of the winning France goal being taken back.

One of the things I'm wondering is if theyNA slide in Womens football is fairly inevitable. Spain and England facing off in Womens final seems interesting in lieu of initial US domination in Womens football, which is now over. Seems like top Football nations are starting to take over.

I think the Aussies were just buoyed by playing at home. I don't know they are better than Canada, they weren't ranked higher. But they were better obviously at this tournament.

Beautiful goal by Sam Kerr. She's just a great player.

It's been a really enjoyable World Cup to watch. Women's soccer isn't always that enjoyable but this tournament has been great. Very positive for the women's game.

Australia was definitely the feel good story, but England was the better team today.

Spain has definitely had a tougher road to the final. They've beaten two really good teams in both the Netherlands and Sweden. England's best opponent so far has been Australia.

Should be a good final. I'm really looking forward to it.

I always preferred the women international tourneys. They seem to have a different compete level. Unfortunately I just been a weekend warrior this time around.
