Yoga stretches videos is the new porn. Obviously won't direct link any but ummm, ummmm. ;)

Youtube filters are completely out of whack. lol why even have the filters if this stuff is legit. Not that I'm particularly complaining. just saying.

I mean techically its yoga in the skimpiest of outfits, I get it. It is yoga. But watch the most viewed segments on any of the videos. Lets just say viewers aren't looking for Yoga instruction..

Hey folks, the Mrs and I are taking a few days to come up to Edmonton and take the kids to the WEM waterpark and do all the other stuff over a couple of days. I was mapping the best way to get to entrance 50 but according to Google Maps, 87th Ave was under major construction as of April 2023. Is it still under major construction? Looks like a pretty big project so I have my doubts it's anywhere near completion. Thanks in advance!!

Anyway to get to WEM from out of town to me would involve Henday as best bet. Its a short skip from Henday to WEM. If 87AVE is construction blocked Whitemud or even Callingwood road options are good as well. 178st or 170st also connect directly to the mall.

Egress to and out of WEM is about the best traffic engineering I've seen designed anywhere. It was good before the Henday, now its great.

Any reason it needs to be Entrance 50?

I can't say what the construction is like right now as I haven't been down that way in last couple months. Some others in West end may know more.

I haven't been to the mall in years, so I'm not an expert. But be forewarned, 170 Street is under some heavy construction right now, near the south part of the mall, and dependent on time of day it could be a bit of a nightmare for you to get there and then get out.

When we lived in Whitecourt several years worth of moons ago and before the kids, we'd go every now and again and I remember it being quite easy to get in and out of as well. Thanks for the tips, I'll have a peek at that as well.

That's the one closest to the waterpark entrance so to not have to lug bags of clean clothes and whatever else through the mall to get there and back to the vehicle later, I thought it'd be best to park as near as we can to that entrance. Thanks for the response!

Awesome, thank you so much for the tip!!! I was going to loop around on 90th to 170th from 178th and come up that side on 87th but I'll look at what Drive said and you got options. Maybe I'll just stick to 178th and turn onto 87th since the construction is more on the east and SE side of the mall and 178th is quite near to where we're staying.

You still live up north right? I'd hit up North Henday definitely and go due west to hit the mall. Henday is the Edmonton ring road if you're not familiar. Far faster. Whatever you do though do not take Henday south, congested and construction on bridge area right now. But Henday North is super fast and takes you to West end in minutes. Then you probably exit St Plain road to get to your hotel, I think you said around 178st. If staying there I would definitely just zip up 178st to the mall then.

I think they have all kinds of lockers at the waterpark. My advice though is don't leave valuables in car or those lockers. A safe is often provided in room at hotels now or available upon request. West End around Stony Plain road will be different from when you remember. Some sketch areas around there east of 170st. Jasper Place is pretty much a zoo now. Sad whats happened to the area. You should be fine the area you're staying around.

PM me if you want what time you're coming out to Edmonton, that way I could advise other events going on or such during your stay. Have fun with the family!

That sounds like a good plan to me.

I was just in Edmonton doing the same thing and i thought the best way was coming up 178th NW via the Whitemud and turning right into the entrance to the movie theater. With construction it changes all the time so maybe this isn't the best route as of today but from my experence from about 10 days ago this route was relatively painless all things considered.

87 Ave eastbound is one lane each way for a good section which makes it pretty bad during rush hour, but I prefer it to the 170 St/87 Ave intersection, which is a bit of a mess due to the pedestrian bridge and LRT projects.

No, we're in the Hat now. Been there since 2014. Almost got wiped out by a semi trying to pass about 6-8 cars and campers on highway 21 north of Strathmore. Seen him coming at me from a ways away but looking at the train of vehicles he needed to pass, I realised he had nowhere to go. Had to take the shoulder and come to a complete stop with wheels on the grass to avoid getting us all wiped out. But we got here safe and sound. Took a trip to the mall tonight after getting checked in just to plan things out and 178th to 87th worked perfectly from where we are. We're not venturing much farther than the WEM this time as the wife saved money throughout the year and had enough for passes to the WEM stuff so we'll do that for our short stay.

Thanks for responding as well you two! We took the Henday all the way to SPR, then to our hotel. 178th to 87th was perfect...heavy construction as you said but getting into where we wanted by the water park was easy in and out. The doggy day care the friend-beast is going sandwiched between the two so I think we're set up.:)

Holy smokes, that sounded like a close call with the semi! I bet that woke the kids up if they were sleeping.

I seen it coming a ways away so I gave myself an out because I knew there was no way he was getting back into his lane in time. After doing highway enforcement on commercial and passenger vehicles for over 20 years, you get used to the idiots out there and see trouble unfolding to avoid a crash. A similar thing happened to summers ago when I was working only it was a black 1/2 ton, which turned out to be stolen. Long story with that one lol.

But, this is the one of the biggest problems with gravel haul contractors/drivers being paid by the load instead of hourly. When it's by the load, it's a race to the pit, race to the site to unload and race back to the pit. Time is literally money and is why you have idiots like this guy who think they can go 130 when they're 50-ish feet long trying to pass a bunch of vehicles.

Oh, and the kids were on their phones. Didn't even notice.:skeptic:

Agree on the agreements with loads instead of hourly. Couriers are also an issue with that in the cities.

Here's my latest "some weirdo came at me on the LRT" story to add to the bundle on here.

Went to the Taste of Edmonton with another couple on Tuesday eve, and we were waiting at the Southgate station. Gals were sitting on a bench and we were standing in front of them, conversing. Some lanky sketchy dude with a back pack comes walking right towards us, and looked like he expected us to part the seas for him to walk right in between us. I never moved and just watched him. When he saw I wasn't going to give up my personal space and let him push through, he went round and muttered something to the effect, "I'm an asshole and will kill you." As soon as he got past us, he was accosted by a couple security officers, who then asked us what he said. After that, they searched him (must have found something as well) and then cuffed him and took him away.

So, two things. Great that there was security there to handle the situation immediately and no one got stabbed, knocked down, or pushed onto the tracks, etc, but still unnerving that first time taking the LRT in about 6 months, and didn't take long to run into conflict and potential violence and threats.
