What’s the first thing you think of when you hear this classic Cars tune? (Instrumental version on purpose ;)

That is a killer track.

Many will say Phoebe Cates or Fast Times at RH, I simply think about how I wish I had seen the Cars before Benjamin Orr passed away.

Saw them in 1979, great concert. Unfortunately I have no black face photos to prove it to you.
Haha, took me a second to figure out that ”black face” reference but I eventually did.

Man, I’m envious that you got the chance. I’ve seen a high percentage of the classic bands of the 70/80 rock era but I missed out on them. Never saw Springsteen neither but I’m correcting that in November when I’m back in Phoenix.

Bill Burr at the Great Outdoor Comedy Festival was pretty fun last night. Weather stayed cool. Worst part about the event would have been the smoke if not for the seagulls flying over head.

On topic from the morning convo: Birr joked that he wanted to be a legal gun owner because he is old; if he couldn’t win fair fights in his 20’s, how could he protect his home against an armed home invader with his mini bat?

I don't know sometimes about our mayor and city council. On one hand we have Sohi crying for more money from the higher levels of government for crime. On the others we have each Calgary and Edmonton spending 1mil with the province spending 2mil just to explore a bid for the Commonwealth Games that no other country is looking at.

They continue to do shit like this. I don't even want the Provincial or Federal government giving anymore extra money to this City until they smarten up.

I agree. That money could be used to redo brand new LRT lines.

Or more continued road work for a few more decades on the west side. I swear every time I go the west side, there's still road construction from when I was 5 years old still going on.

They do messed up shit in this city with road construction. Go and reconstruct a road, then 5 years later come back to redo the underground.

At the end of the day the different city ran divisions aren't exactly the best at spending their money properly, but when you have dumb city councils why should we expect it to be any different.

Also not a fan of this ban on single use plastics. The whole price jumping in 2024 is ridiculous. Leave it up to the stores themselves to come up with the pricing. Fine with the initial costs, but why is there a mandate to increase it next year?

Now Sohi is whining about the Feds needing to tighten up the catch and release of violent criminals, as our city's violence has yet another eruption over the last few days. Talk about a hypocrite. He was with the Trudeau liberals and voted with his hero's troops back in 2018 for Bill C-75, which actually loosened restrictions for criminals. He is getting what he asked for, and unfortunately, so are we.

Great stuff! We are going to see the Doobie Brothers late October. Last time I saw them was during their heyday in the mid seventies at the old Coliseum. Tom Johnson wasn't with them as he was sick and that really sucked, so this time, it's going to be a correction and fulfillment for me.
Nice. They’re awesome. Saw them in 2016 in NYC (Citi Field) at the Classics East show. That was a fun 2 days concert and 10 days in NYC.

It’s funny how often they resurface a road and then dig it up less than 5 years later whether for infrastructure maintenance, poor expansionary planning or just poor work the first time around.

Very in efficient but that’s pretty much anything that any level of government touches. Not to mention Canada is dealing with a severe lack of quality professionals in everything from civil engineering to Healthcare. Then take into consideration that workforce productivity in Canada has been nosediving and it’s no surprise that everything takes twice as long and cost three times as much.

The make it last work crews of today is also a part of the problem. From top down crews that want the present project last as long as it possibly can so that the crew can just get paid endlessly is endemic and nothing being done about it. Takes 20 people to hold up a shovel now and half of them wouldn't be able to use it if they wanted to.

Work crews are motivated by finishing job only if on completion pay scale, and not hourly pay scale. Its why any roofing crew works harder and faster to get a job done. Or any crew that is getting paid specifically on project completion.

The City particularly aren't getting quality people on crews. They are getting people that know how to milk jobs to perpetuity.

Even with exterior contracted management its still the same COE getting duped and not caring.

I thought Fleetwood Mac were retiring after Chrissie McVie passed away. RIP.
