Ya know
3 HR for Goldy, hopefully this will be the wake up the offense needs to start getting on a roll
yet our pitching staff still looks like crap with Knizner behind the plate…I guess Wilson has been calling pitches from the dugout.I don't follow the Cards, or baseball much if at all. So take this with a huge grain of salt. I did see an article a week or two back that was talking about how bad the Card's pitching is. It suggested part of the problem may be Contrearas. Apparently he isn't good at calling a game, ie which pitches to throw and where. The evidence was the fact that the Cards pitching has gotten worse while the Cubs pitching has gotten better. Beyond what any change in pitching personnel should cause.
Like I said, take it with a grain of salt. But it appears the Cards think its at least worth trying to get someone else calling the game, while still getting some value out of that contract with his bat,
I think there are some compelling arguments for it, especially if we are now in a logjam at DH and poor defensive OFs, but damn, talk about a blow that would be.Also - should we trade Goldschmidt at the TDL? I'm starting to lean towards yes.
I mean, we're last in the entire NL - and we have no pitching prospects to speak of. Liberatore looks good at Triple - A, but that's what we said last year and he got blown up when he arrived in the Show.
Goldy is amazing, I don't -want- to trade him....but at this point he's the reigning MVP and he's having another amazing start to the season - there's no time like the present to maximize on his value.
At this point any pitcher complaining about a catcher's calls needs to shut up. Every pitcher in baseball can call their own game with the current tech. If they don't like the game Contreras is calling then learn to use Pitchcomm and call your own damn game.
Also - should we trade Goldschmidt at the TDL? I'm starting to lean towards yes.
At this juncture I'd take just about any value back for Flaherty. I have no clue if it's all the injuries or he just went on a heater and wasn't really that guy back in 2021....but he hasn't shown he's even a middle rotation guy over the last three plus years.I would trade pretty much anybody on the roster right now excluding prospects, Gorman and Donovan. That includes Goldy, Arenado, Monty and Flaherty.
bowtie boy knows best.
2019 he was amazing, 2021 he was very good, and every other season he’s been bad, terrible, or injured. I don’t know. I don’t want to just toss him away because we have absolutely no pitching, but he’s got to get it going. Can’t keep relying on just a year or two.At this juncture I'd take just about any value back for Flaherty. he'll sign with LA for peanuts and win a cy young or two. hes always wanted to be a dodger.Flaherty is so cringey now when he pitches. Definitely pitching like a guy with chronic shoulder issues

Has Flaherty ever made any comments that would give fans the notion he wants to play in LA? Serious question. They need to move Flaherty out of that clubhouse yesterday. The guy's been having wet dreams about playing in LA since he got here. Who cares if he doesn't return anything? Send him home!
What has he ever said that would indicate he has enjoyed his time here? He had a nice bond with Gibby. That's about it. He's obviously annoyed with the media, not that I can necessarily fault any athlete for that. But he's playing in a town that eats, sleeps and breathes baseball. I see no benefit in holding out for a miniscule return when they finally decide to pull the trigger on moving him. If we're nowhere near even sniffing a wild card come June it's time to clean house.Has Flaherty ever made any comments that would give fans the notion he wants to play in LA? Serious question.
So there's never been anything specific that has linked him to LA or his desire to play for LA? You said that he's been having "wet dreams" about playing in LA, when there is zero proof of that aside from endless fan speculation. What has he ever said that would indicate he has enjoyed his time here?
