matz was a headcase with the mets and Mo rewarded him with a massive contract. Guy is a fringe #5 starter at best.

If they don't turn this around in the next few games, this season may be over before it even really began. Can't keep digging yourself a hole like this and expect to get out of it.

At the rate that our pitchers have been giving up hits and walks, it doesn't really matter IMO. Now, some of those hits could be inflated due to his defense, but while the pitching is shit, I don't really care about any individual defensively. The only chance we have at winning is offense.

Then move Gorman to 2nd and have Burleson DH, Donovan and Gorman are much closer defensively than Carlson or O'Neill vs Burleson; Donovan hasn't been very good at the plate or the field so far this year

every extra hit that falls in has a negative cascading effect on the pitching, more pitches, more pitches under stress, more pitches in a single inning, shorter outings, more pitches from the relievers, all of this early in the season when arms aren't quite built up yet

Monty is the only Pitcher that has his shit together this year.
Flaherty has no control whatsoever, dude is lucky to have a below 5ERA.
Matz is annoying as hell.
Mikolas has good underlying numbers, especially his strikeouts, but he's getting hit hard.

Cards need to find a way to jettison Matz and find at least a solid #2 pitcher.

Oh, and f*** Jordan Hicks. f***ing useless.

We could definitely see Thompson and Liberatore at some point making starts. Liberatore had a nice spring and 2 very good starts in Memphis so far.

The Cards season sure does seem primed to fall off the rails doesn't it? I know "it's early," and all that, but Goldy and Arenado are both hitting 350+ for the last 10 days and we're 3-7. That's pretty freaking concerning.
