So is it the Rangers or Panthers that cut off kids arms and pile them up? I can't recall that part. I was too distracted by Brando constantly pouring water over his own head and mumbling all the lines.
The Panthers cut the kids arms off.

I don't know how well it reflects on me but I use that speech all the time when trying to explain things to people at work.

We can make fun all we want against the Rangers, but they won the President trophy and have made the conference finals. This series isn’t over until you win 4 games. Rangers aside, what worries me is watching Florida, what chance would we have. They’re a tough physical heavy team, while we’re still a small although skilled team. However, come playoff time our guys would get crushed. They built this team on small fast skilled players, but no toughness or size. We have a ways to go before we can challenge, goaltending being a major issue as well.

Just don't shave your head and sit in the dark pouring water over yourself and for heaven's sake don't mumble. Beyond that I'm sure that speech goes over perfectly fine in today's world in the workplace.

Interview? What interview? I see Emily though. :)
She forgot her hair dryer last night.
It is kind of crazy that Zib is the best center they've had in the 21st century.

Shesterkin is already on the verge of having done enough to have his number in the rafters, that's how absurd that franchise is.

Effectively can't draft or develop any skaters for shit, but they have had two of the best goalies of their time pushing them like Sisyphus.

I hear you, but we beat the tough and physical rangers last year due to our skill and speed.

The way I've seen them in recent years, the Rangers are built to thrive in the regular season: dominant goaltending and obscenely good special teams will help you rack up points, both because you're facing a lot of lesser competition but also because the really good teams won't get as much focused time to prepare for you. Get them in the playoffs, though, and they're more vulnerable; leaning so heavily on special teams and goaltending leads to them getting caved in on possession stats and whatnot. Doesn't mean they can't win it all, of course, their special teams and goaltending are that good, but playing it so you keep getting outchanced by better than 2:1 and barely control the puck for huge stretches of time is a dangerous game.

I kind of equate it to a baseball team that thrives on hitting tons of home runs and walking a lot to generate most of their offense; that style absolutely can win you a title (see: the Atlanta Braves), but if you're too one-dimensional and get into the postseason against legitimately good teams, you're less likely to get a bunch of pitchers willing to throw meatballs your way or who can't get the ball in the strike zone, so suddenly a powerhouse lineup seems like they're striking out 12 times a game and end up bowing out.

All of that said, I fully agree that the current Devils facing the current Panthers in an extended series would scare the crap out of me.

We are built this way because the two consensus (without rivals) number one overall picks we lucked (and sucked record wise) into were both smaller centers, in Jacks case with individual team altering speed, lateral agility and skill. Bratt too, whom we found out of nowhere. (Thankfully we didn’t draft the big heavy canadian guy who was talked about with Nico who got hurt and is maybe even out of the league now).

The make up of those draft pools skewed our roster in that direction.

But you are 100% right, we have to backfill the roster to compensate for this. Meier was a first step in that direction but only one step.

I just want good players.

We still have too many bad players (or mediocre players, which is a fine thing to have, playing like bad players).

Don’t really give a f*** about “playoff style players” or whatever. Teams that are good in the regular season statistically do well in the playoffs. So let’s just try and get guys that win games.

I think the style of player does matter a little bit.

We flat out need more board / blue paint acumen - guys who can make plays off the wall under contact and generate a track record of doing that - Maroon, J. Williams, Perry - they go far and often. If there’s one thing GMs do get right, it’s recognizing these kind of players.

Arguably the most important goal since Rico in ‘12 was created off Palat closing in tight on Fox along the boards. I just don’t see many guys on this team right now capable of making that same play. We have plenty of skill off the rush and in open ice. Not worried about that. But the net front 50-50 battle goals matter and we need more of it.

On the other hand more realistically we are looking at the next Hishier's deal.

Hischier will do better than that, you think he's only gonna get 1.5M raise with a booming cap? I can't really see

100%, we spent years with guys like Ryder, Havlat, JORDIN TOOTOO in our top 6. Just give me a good roster and let the coach figure it out, that's why they get paid the big bucks

It feels like every single 2-0/2 goal lead in this series has been blown, so I was fully expecting Dallas to tie it, until it became 3-0.

6 shots in 35 minutes? Edmonton is a good defensive team sometimes when they wanna be lol.

Still, I expect much more from Dallas than 6 shots this far into the game.

Is it possible that Dallas is starting to really feel it with a significant number of old legs they have in the lineup?

They looked pretty non-existent tonight, until quite a bit after the game was already 3-0.

The Oilers have stifled the offense from the opposition and their ability to get shots since late in the Vancouver series.
