Buffalo Bills Onto Week 3 at Miami

We'll see. I think game-manager types like Tua and Mac Jones still have a place in this league, especially with elite-quick guys at WR (ie, Hill and Waddle).
I think Miami could be the dark horse of this season. I think the Bills are rightly solid favourites for the division - but some people are acting like it's already a done deal.

Tua has supposedly been lights-out in camp this summer. You wonder if that is just media hype or if it's for real... But only a fool would completely discount them before a single play has been made.

For all the talk about how the Bills have the best safety duo in the NFL, Miami probably has the best CB duo in the league and certainly top 3 when going to top 3 CBs.

The big question facing Miami isn't Tua -- it's that rebuilt O-line. If that O-line gives Tua time to throw...........look out. Hill, Waddle and Wilson don't need much time to get separation, and when they do......they can fly.

I have a hard time picking the Bills when LA is getting 2.5 point at home. Does anyone else have a confident take, one way or the other on this game with teh spread incorporated?
Could go eitherway. Week 1 is unpredictable in general. The fact we're playing a good team makes it more of a crap shoot.

I like our odds, though, especially if Stafford isnt 100%.

Who's w me here and clue me in if I don't get it. . I like von miller but Odell Beckham acting like he's the beach prize to the winner of this prison fight..What a tool playing coy.. maybe I don't get the joke but let's win w who we have fook everyone else and fook Odell. .

OK, I'm sorry but what are you even trying to say with this?

And as for the "win it with who we have a f everyone else"... I say win any ethical way possible. If we need to add a piece to put us over the edge and we can do so, you do it.

Does LA really have the home-field advantage though? It's not like Buffalo or Seattle or Green Bay or Pittsburgh or KC where the crowd can REALLY have an effect on things. LA's crowd are a little more subdued and highbrow (kinda like going to a Leafs game in Toronto).
I agree it’s not a huge home field advantage like some other places you mentioned. But it’s still a home field advantage. And they’re doing their banner raising ceremony so I’d imagine that will have the players pretty charged up/motivated.

I’m not saying that the Bills will lose. Just that I expect it to be a tough game/matchup for opening day.

It’s cool that the Bills got picked to play the first game of the year against the SB champs though.

I don't believe you have ever done time before lol.

He is basically saying he will be the bitch to whoever wins the game, which is an incredibly hot take.

I think it was just a funny way of referencing the two teams he’s been linked to who happen to play each other in the first game of the year.

I don’t know why that would make anyone angry with him.

I took it as he thought OBJ is acting like he's the bell of the ball, per se. Which I have noticed and which is annoying since we don't even know what he'll be like coming back from that injury, not to mention a super-crowded WR room.

But I don't know Cockney English so who knows?

I mean, plays have been made for two years now that would indicate that he is incapable of winning a game in Buffalo (or in harsh elements in general).

I'm not putting any eggs in the basket of a guy who will never steal a cold-weather game late in the season because he has the arm strength of a dragonfly.

And if he somehow still managed to squeak them in as a WC team, he will inevitably have to play at Cincy, Buffalo, KC, Baltimore, etc. He's not winning in those environments.

Angry. No. Amused and in a mocking way as he illuciits attention .. .. wow .

He's not playing. Who cares .. He's like a girl courting two suitors. You let that girl pass by til she knows what she wants .

I like the team the way it is .. maybe if he begs. I'll consider it .. hilarious

Well said . I should read more and talk less..

I'm not comparing the two stylistically - but I'm guessing you were one of the people who wrote Allen off after his early career performances?

Damn- this team is being hyped up a lot. I never really buy into any preseason hype, though I am incredibly excited about this year. How would people feel if the Bills lost in the AFC championship game? Failure of a season or a solid season that didn't end in glory?

I'm not comfortable with this uber-favourite tag in any way, shape or form. Especially not in a league with so much apparent parity as the NFL.

As you're alluding to - i think it's creating unrealistic expectation among the fanbase - which isn't healthy. The GOAL should always be to win the superbowl - not the expectation.

One thing i will say that i find extremely impressive about this current Bills group - is the overall stability of the roster. It was similar last season too.

Even at this stage - you see many other teams still tinkering with their roster, making waiver claims, trying guys out, chopping/changing their P-squad with a bunch of unfamiliar guys, so on.

But not the Bills. They got down to 53, majority of the P-squad are also 'their' guys, the only new guys they bought in were direct replacements for PS waiver losses. Even the punter situation was dealt with clinically - after cutting Araiza they immediately added one of the best FAs available with no fuss.

Looking at the 53 - many are well established with the team. They probably have one of the highest percentages of home grown drafted players, even the P-squad is filled with guys they know well & can depend on.

I love to see it.

I hear stuff like that, but then I see another Tua 'hype' video like this one

I almost feel like someone in NFL/team social media are messing with him when I see these...

Man I haven't been this hyped for a season, probly ever. Only thing that comes remotely close could be 2006 Sabres. I think I need to step away from the hype videos.

Imagine how the players are right now. I bet they barely sleep tonight.

I seriously doubt too many experienced Buffalo sports fans are expecting a Super Bowl win. Too many things have happened over the years. I do think it's more a general acknowledgement that this is a very good team with a lot of potential.

I go back and forth on Tua. I like somethings about him- his quick release and accuracy are the two things I notice the most. He also has been hindered by injuries and terrible personnel + a coach who didn't believe in him. He's also done well in camp by most accounts.

I do have some issues with him, though. Kurt warner pointed one out after his long completion to Hill in the preseason. The mechanics on that throw were UGLY. Warner did a great job highlighting everything wrong with the throw. Now, it was still a completion, but it was way off the mark, so Hill had to make a crazy good play to make the catch. It was also against an Eagles secondary that had no starters and a bunch of injuries. Finally, Tua put EVERYTHING into that throw. It wasnt a flick of the wrist like we see from Allen or Mahomes.

The highlight was shown around the league as Tua proving he can throw deep, but it was an ugly throw that will likely get him into more trouble than good against a starting defense that's not playing vanilla.

On top of that- i have questions on his durability, his ability to keep his composure when the pressure is in his face, and his ability to make throws on the run. He had some really ugly throws on the run last year, but he also may have had his hip injury lingering.

But there is potential for him to become a top-10 guy. The more I think about it- the more I think he'll end up like Jimmy G. But the universe works in weird ways, so maybe he'll become the next Drew Brees, and we're battling Miami for the division every year.
