I'm not one to load up on Bills either.....but holy cow did I:

JA17, Diggs, Bills D/ST, Bass
As someone who considers themselves a good NFL fantasy player... This strategy is a mistake. No team is that dominant. I get grabbing Bass / DST since these were likely at the back of your draft. But the Allen/Diggs combo plus guys like Davis/Knox/Singletary on top... That's a no-no. Diversity is key. So is zagging when the rest of your league is zigging. Make sure you have one of Allen/Diggs by all means but don't put all the eggs in the same basket!

That said - a couple of years ago i grabbed both John Brown & Cole Beasley when they went on to have good years - but both were late picks in what was a deep league.

I agree. I had to restrain myself from pickin gup additional bills. I have Diggs in one league, and I held back and 'only' picked up Cook as a depth piece.

Another league I have Allen and Davis. Plus Bills D. Most I could really get myself too.

Oh, it's just those 4 I had. And the value was absolutely right for where I picked (#9 out of 10).

Snagged Kamara with 9, Diggs on the wrap......then Evans in the 3rd with Allen on the wrap.

Bills D and Bass were indeed late picks (hell, Bass was my 2nd-to-last pick).

I don't usually stock up on one team like that..................but the value I got absolutely made sense to me.

I wasn’t planning on loading up on Bills players in fantasy, but Josh fell in my lap in the 4th round, Gabe in the 7th, and Knox in the 10th. So here we are haha

That’s right! I remember when they didn’t call it on Diggs I tweeted that I guaranteed a PI call would go the other way and cost us. Because that is always the way.
One of the cardinal rules of playing Brady: defensive holding, PI, and offensive holding almost don't exist as penalties that can be called against his team

For us it’s more like….hey you know you don’t always have to play Mahomes in the playoffs right? Manning finally got past Brady and won a SuperBowl by…not having to play Brady that year. I’m fine with a scenario like this. More than fine.
FWIW the Colts did beat the Patriots in the AFC championship game the year they won the Super Bowl. They did it at home though instead of in Foxboro where they had been losing.

If this GM-coach tandem knows anything, it’s defensive backs. Not worried at all.
Yeah I’m not worried long term. I’ve been following McDermott since his 2012 Carolina defense really started to take off the 2nd half of the season and a couple young, no-name (at the time) DBs were a big part of that success. I’ve seen him do it a couple times in Carolina and here in Buffalo as well. But both times he had to transition to young DBs in Carolina (2012 and when Josh Norman left in free agency in 2015 or whenever it was) there were growing pains early in the season.

I don’t want to sound like I’m overly worried or anything. I actually think we could be in much better shape long term once Elam gets more comfortable in zone coverage. I’m hopeful we could have 2 elite CBs with Elam and White. I think Elam could end up being a big upgrade on Wallace. But Wallace was pretty reliable and that might be missed a bit early on in the season (hopefully not…).
I’m sure they’ll get it figured out and I’m sure McDermott and Frazier will provide them help on the field as needed. But I won’t be surprised if there are mistakes, especially early in the season before Tre is back and in game shape. We saw some great plays in the preseason but also some coverage lapses/mistakes. And they’ll get tested right off the bat with LA’s wide receiver corps (and they added Robinson this offseason). Having Tre back will take a lot of pressure off the other CBS once he’s taking the #1 Cb snaps again.

I’m sure the coaches will game plan to provide both guys help from our excellent safeties though, and (hopefully) an improved pass rush will also take more pressure off the DBs this season.

I dont think there's anything wrong with picking up an elite QB and an elite WR from the same team. I actually think that's a good strategy if it falls that way, but Im not a very good fantasy football player, so...

More on Elam vs Benford:

Good news on the injury front, too:

I've won two leagues that way: Manning/Harrison and Ryan/Julio.

The only issue is when one of them flops or gets hurt (like when I kept both Ryan and Julio the year after I won.....Julio got injured and I got screwed).

I'm in a 2 quarterback league, and had the third pick. Allen was the first player chosen. Diggs was then chosen in the third round, 1 pick before I was about to take him. I did end up with Knox, Bass, and Poyer. It's also an 8 team league, so I have people on my bench I would normally be starting.

The other issue as everyone knows is the bye week. Load up on one team and you're begging for 1 guaranteed loss on the season.

I have a hard time picking the Bills when LA is getting 2.5 point at home. Does anyone else have a confident take, one way or the other on this game with teh spread incorporated?

First game for our offensive coordinator, rookie CBs playing for the first time, on the road…

it’s not an ideal setup to face the defending champions tbh.

But Allen is the better QB and that can cover so so so many problems in a game.

Id lay off the bet this week

LA has new starters on D at all three levels and two new OL starters, including a new LT who is replacing a HOFer.

Both teams have new players to integrate into the lineup.

I won't be surprised if Cook and McKenzie have good games.

It’s not like I’m saying to bet against them. But it isn’t hard to find the reasons this game isn’t one to put money on them to win

Missing Tre won’t feel as important the next few weeks when they play Tannehill, Tua and Lamar. But this is a good passing offense this week

I'm not saying that this is a good week to put money on the Bills. I am worried about the offense getting off to a slow start to the season on top of the potential issues at CB.

On the up side, I do think Von will have the team ready to go.

You saw what Tyreek did to us without Tre, right? Am I worried about Tua? No. Am I worried about Tyreek and Waddle getting open to the point where Tua literally can't miss them? Yes, yes I am.

Going to Thursday's game -- there is really no odds you could give me that would want to bet on the game, as I can literally see every scenario at play. I could see the Rams blowing us out because our corners can't cover anyone. I can see us blowing out the Rams because Stafford spends all his time on his ass and Allen does Allen things. I have absolutely no feel for what will happen Thursday.

I have no idea how this game will go. I’m obviously hoping the Bills win but I wouldn’t be confident enough to place a bet on either team winning.

It’s going to be a tough game I think.

Sean McVay has been excellent on opening day as a head coach. He has a perfect record in the first game of the season since he was hired by LA. He’s 5-0.

Plus the super bowl champs have historically done very well on opening day.
Overall the opening day record is 38-16-1 in favor of the defending champs.
It’s 19-3 since 2000 and 7-1 in the last 8 years.

Plus LA is at home.

i can’t think of much that worries me less than Tua who can’t extend plays or throw down the field. He won’t have time to do anything but throw underneath. That’s a lot different than watching Levi trail five yards behind Hill after Mahomes gives him time.

Tua is bad guys. For the modern NFL he’s bad. He’s very very bad.

Does LA really have the home-field advantage though? It's not like Buffalo or Seattle or Green Bay or Pittsburgh or KC where the crowd can REALLY have an effect on things. LA's crowd are a little more subdued and highbrow (kinda like going to a Leafs game in Toronto).
This. Plus I hear there are a ton of tickets sold to people with Buffalo/WNY billing addresses and Buffalo fans always travel well so should be a pretty big Buffalo fan representation at the game.
