Great game...except when I saw Turcotte down and then slowly go to the bench and then down the tunnel.
I missed the puck hitting him in the face, I was looking at my phone, as I was constantly rcording :30 t0 :60 second clips. I looked up and saw him down and the people next to me didn't see it...I was so elated, when he came out for the 3rd.
I got a good recording of him getting the puck and dropping it to Chromiak. The 2 best players on the ice tonight were Turcotte and Spence. Fagemo right there, too. But right, that shorty with Ward that Turcotte scored was killer. I was cheering all night for the Reign and Eagles fans were mildly annoyed at me...but I was not standing for any Reign goals, until those last 3...Turcotte to Chromiak, Ward to Turcotte and Lias' snipe.
I was in a direct line from the angle Lias shot that, from goalie to Lias to where I was sitting. Lias is good too,
but just is lacking a bit of jam, or urgency, to make it.,,and top speed. But he's got the skill, finish, shot, and decent playmaking. I think some team should have claimed him, as he should be a 3rd line NHL player....he's not made to be a 4th liner.
Spence just oozes ability and confidence. Not as much flash as Durzi or Clarke can show, but overall skill and ability, with great skating, to do most anything he wants, at this level. Very smart. Poised. Top speed good, but not elite. He's added strength, too. Good battling, good one on one. Never really see him fall. Can run a PP. I wished he would 1 time his shots...several times, stopped puck first and then shot or passed. 2nd pairing RHD for sure.
Grans...don't really see it. Madden is ok. Helenius is ok, but has a ways to go. Tobias? I want to see more from him. He looked okay, but he needs to play with a little more force. He has ability, good reads, good skating.
He can be a good third pairing, but he's got to raise his intensity.
Cal? Looked okay, but didn't like that rebound goal. I don't have a ticket for tomorrow, but now going to get one and go again...snowing here pretty good and may be tougher to travel....brushed 6 inches of snow off my car...and will snow continually until 11 AM tomorrow. So, maybe there will be a lot of no shows, but I want to make it.
Don't give up on Turcotte. He's a helluva player. He's the same player that helped lead Team USA to Gold. The Gold medal game he was a beast the last part of it. Don't trade him or Spence. Chromiak is going to keep rising...he looks about 5'11" 175 and surely lost so much weight. Once he gets stronger, is going to be a good one.
