Miscellaneous NHL Discussion CX: That's A Lot.

I’d Tonya Harding these f***s.

@Magua didn't expect this. Wonder if he gets any NHL time this year.

Providence is a college I wouldn’t go to as a top prospect. They’re a good program for that level, but they really have no track record of developing more than an occasional depth guy. They skew old and defensive.

Connelly torched the USHL last year with no help; we know his skill level. I do believe he had something nagging. I’m not usually for moves like this — I think a transfer is better — but I get it. I could see a surprising AHL season.

Does he meet the AHL requirements to play there next season? Is it possible he goes to play juniors somewhere?

Vegas shoved Paul Cotter, a 4th rounder without 1/5 the track record, into the AHL as a D+2 (he surprisingly did poorly). Connelly is eligible for whatever.

His rights are owned by Spokane. If Catton goes back (he might not), it could make sense. Spokane is going all in this year though. Connelly was the best scorer in the USHL at 17, so I could see it going either way.

Is this good? Do we want this?

Sportsnet getting exclusive national TV rights in Canada for another 12 years is horrible.

Given what they're paying this time, I suspect the already ridiculous cost to watch out of market games will become even more expensive.

Boo-urns.
idk the energy i get from the NHL is that they're struggling... Basketball will probably surpass Hockey in Canada within those next 12 years. This isn't the move.

I do not give a single shit either. This is stat compiling at its worst. He’s been horrendous defensively for years at this point.

It’s also not the real record. Abolish Empty Net Goals.
Not the real record yet. Ovechkin only has 9 more empty net goals than Gretzky. Besides, this would be old news had it not been for a full season lockout, a half season lockout, and covid

Anything to knock Gretzky down a peg is fine with me. f*** that guy

They’ve played roughly the same number of RS games, so the missed time means nothing to me. And then we’re ignoring the Playoffs, where there’s a large gap.

I can’t stand either of these guys. I assure you it’s not a pro-Gretzky thing.

Oh I never assumed it was a pro Gretzky thing, don't worry.

That said, it's wildly anti-Gretzky for me

I've spent enough time on the History of Hockey board to know that if Ovechkin doesn't sit on the top of the list you'll get thousands of words of the worst reasoning anyone has ever committed to electron about how Ovechkin isn't the top all-time goalscorer and is in fact also behind Lemieux and somehow, Messier. All because Gretzky is above him.

So I am invested in removing that entire possibility.

Lemieux is an interesting case though. Some of his goal scoring seasons are for the ages. If he had stayed injury free you would think Gretzky's record would've been broken a long time ago.

I agree though. Ovechkin has earned it. He simply is the best goalscorer of all time.

Kuzmenko with a real nice goal and assist tonight, after a 3 point night their last game.

Remind me why DB bailed on him so quickly again, after talking how they had previously targeted him and gave up assets for him?
