Marco Sturm's powerplay on full display, allowing 2 shorthanded goals on the same powerplay.

One a blatant giveaway by Grans in front of the goalie

2 SH goals against same PP.
1st on horrible Grans giveaway in front of own goal—Brent Sutter with the goal.
2nd on semi-breakaway that Villalta should have stopped.
Calgary 4-2. Andersson with both ONT goals.

Maybe it was a gift to commemorate Sutter’s 1000th AHL game

Didn't see the game but from the scoresheet Reign up 6-3 going into the third and lost 7-6 ouch. Looked like Turcotte had a decent game with a goal and an assist. Anything from Turcs is a positive for hm.

Petersen allowed only 7 goals today.

What a great goalie he is.
Was leading the entire AHL is sv% and GAA before this game. Not saying I disagree with you, but also shitty move to wait for a game like this when he has been doing what I wrote above over several games.

I have watched all his current AHL games.

He was ok in majority of them, but never was very good.

In last game he was simply terrible.

Apparently they gave up a ton of breakaways and he kept them in it (per Turcotte).

Didn’t watch the last game but I disagree, he’s been solid and has made big saves. He’s been less eventful and has moved back towards his solid positional technique. I still don’t know how he was allowed to get away from it in the first place because he was basically a better version of Copley at first. He was economical, filled the net and it seems we are now appreciating the value in that.

Is he ever going to be Elite? no. However if he can get back to his best he’d can provide solid goaltending behind a team playing with good structure. IF.

I believe that no team can win title without elite goaltending…

I don’t dispute (odd exceptions apart) that and we need it (certainly better goaltending) at some point but even if we had an elite goaltender now we aren’t a contender. Solid is enough currently as long as it’s consistently at that level, that way the focus can (or should be) development of the blue chip prospects until a goaltending opportunity emerges.

Something very noticeable from Cal is his body language. He look pissed after both goals but more importantly he wasn’t moping. He got right up and was ready to go, which is a very good sign. Maybe finishing the season in Ontario pending Copley’s play will be a blessing

Cal is toast man.

He is a 5 million dollar replacement-level AHL goalie at this point.
